- The plaintiff rented an apartment from the defendant. She had surgery the day she was supposed to move in, and she claims the defendant changed the rent terms behind her back. She’s suing for a rent refund. The defendant argues he was in the middle of renovations when the plaintiff was supposed to move in. He says he won’t give her money back because he offered her a different apartment.

i dont believe he owns that building . people who own property dont look like that and dont present themselves like that or speak like that . he is a common street con that is collecting deposits for a building he does not own .

And the defendant should NOT be a landlord. Personally, I think she should have got the Ramada Inn bill, at least for bit, IF the lease would have had a date, because the only reason she had to move into a hotel, is because he breached the contract.
The defendant came to court looking like he just woke up from a nap and threw on yesterday’s clothes. That told me everything I needed to know.

My thoughts exactly. Whether he admits it or not, he decided to pull a bait and switch and expected the plaintiff to be satisfied with that. That's not what she put down a deposit for, period.

My sister is a teacher and she gets paid in the summer cause she volunteers to teach summer school. A lot of teachers do summer school or do tutoring gigs in the summer

Does he really not realize that when a person is signing a lease, they're making the agreement with the landlord?? He said, "She signed the lease, not me!" That's why the landlord is supposed to also sign the lease, otherwise the tenant could later write her own lease, sign it, and then come to court and sue the landlord for whatever it says on her newly written lease.

Women are not so quick to send naked pics like men are. We have to beg and buy them gifts for one with their heads blocked.
In this day and age, there's just no excuse not to use the camera built into your phone to take a picture of a contract whenever possible. We can even scan copies of documents on programs like Adobe Acrobat and have them available to attach to email. Ultimately, we can use our phones for more than random pictures and videos.

There’s this thing called due diligence! If he claims he didn’t think she could afford the place, then it was his responsibility to do his due diligence before signing a lease and taking her money! What happened is he probably discussed with someone how much he was gonna rent it for and they told him he could make more, so he thought he was gonna be slick by pushing her into another location and renting that space to someone else for a higher amount. It was never about her being able to afford the space.
