    I own a dojo and invite my brother to help me test advanced students. He says "Bro, your students have turned into quite the lil grapplers." I think I owe much of that to you Stephan. Keep up the great work.

    It's the little details like starting with the knee that helps everyday people learn the setups for basic submissions, good work!

    I love it Stephan. The knee's a nice touch, and I haven't seen the ankle get hooked quite like that before. Very neat.

    @wrxbungle I don't actually have an academy. I teach once in a while at friend's schools, as well as teaching online and via my DVDs. That allows me to concentrate on my own training. Not the traditional 'solution' I know, but it works for me...

    @tp0721 This was from a three day seminar I taught last year. I fillmed the whole thing and put it out onto DVD as the Advanced Techniques and Tactics series

    @ConicalRamirez It's not so much the specific entry as it is the concept of
    leading with the knee rather than the foot. You can apply this concept to ANY omo plata entry

    stephan kesting you're the outstanding bjj master I have ever watched...Thanks for your tututorials. I wish I were one of your pupils. I'd train in your academy if you were in my country. I like taekwondo, but BJJ became my beloved sport...I wish I could learn BJJ.

    All these dudes talking trash about bjj, using saying its "gay", in all reality if you in your mind find it gay, your probably questioning your sexuality. Bjj is a martial art, and from taking muay boran, boxing, and little bit of wrestling. I can tell you straight up Bjj is the most complex, its a extremely fast paced chest game, which not only do you need to knw the physics of the body, also you have to take into account every one of your and your opponents limbs.

    is it better to hook the nearest leg with your foot or the outiside leg?? it looks at though it might be harder for him to push your foot of with his free hand ( for the outside leg)

    Hi Stephan
    As i saw in your vid, you did a omo plata counter to the double-underhook pass. I rly liked that move, cauz i'm working on my omo plata game (i'm a withe belt with more or less 2 years of experience). So i'd adore to see the move with some set-ups/ variations. Could you please make a detailed vid about it?

    If he stretch or kick his right leg ( 6:11) then he can do somersault and he can escape from Omo plata
    Thank you Sir

    Stephan, I think "Omoplata" it's written in one word. Just like the bone. The one wich breaks in the technique. I know there are variations, like Baratoplata, but the original name from this technique came from the bone. Just hoping to help.

    Hey man! How's it going?
    I've been checking out your videos on UA-cam and I've been benefiting a lot from them. However, I'm facing a problem I come from a striking background in martial arts so I have no problem in striking but I'm a bit confused regarding what style of grappling and locking martial art I should choose.
    Here's the problem, I did for the past 3 summers traditional jujitsu and found it real fun I'm good on the ground in passing and submitting people. However, now I'm doing MMA so we don't use a GI and we start on our knees in BJJ which I found very awkward and difficult to start a fight. Do you have any tips or videos on how to start a BJJ fight from when we are on our knees rather than to do a take-down from the standing position.
    Speaking of take-downs, If i aim at improving my take-down skills which is better Judo or Wrestling ?? Should I practice with or without a GI for more practical results in MMA and in a real situation??
    Thank you for your time,
    Regards Elias!!!

      Elias Semaan Wrestling is higher percentage than judo, for example, consider the majority of judo throws are very legal in wrestling, however they really only rarely seen. Not to bash judo, throws and trips are effective, but if you want help taking the fight to the ground freestyle/folkstyle wrestling is unmatched

    Stephen I know from other videos that you're "anti" Rubber Guard for people that can't do circus leg bending. The movements in this video seem safe enough. Thoughts on the safety of each move shown here?

    Stephan dont like to make short and objective videos. He does these long and boring videos where he explains few details that could be said in much less time.

    • @azraelexlibris4663
      @azraelexlibris4663 11 років тому

      Maybe because its unscripted? And as it is a video you can skip things? Thinking about things is a helpful thing, can make things less boring.
      *doesn't btw.

    • @mccasky6998
      @mccasky6998 11 років тому +3

      Well I enjoy the fact that they are long drawn out. I can rewind and re watch the technical details.As a beginer in BJJ I've been told I try to do things too fast, so this helps a little.
