Nice bro! I was there 2001 and in that time it was almost no tourist there. Me and my friend was there for 1 week and we took a bus trip 16h north to Inner Lake (I think). We arrived around 3.30 am and it was pitch black and we didn’t know where to go and then a guy told us to wait until 7-8 o’clock am to get a pickup taxi to the place we were going to.
I also felt like u did with the people and though they would rob o kill us 😂😂 We found out that the people only were curious when they saw tourists.
The temple Shwedagon Pagoda was amazing!
