Roman you were very kind to the rep. In your own words please describe this truck. nice exhaust and black tires..and...oh sport bar. You looked like you wanted to laugh at him.
+GMC Jae Yeah it's called the ZR2 and it's coming out in 2016/2017. It has a lift, locking rear and front diff, and all terrain tires. It might even get a diesel too. Gas or diesel I will buy 1 if its a crew cab. If not ill just get a Tacoma TRD off road.
I noticed something here at 4:25 that I'm not sure if it is different or upgraded from before, but the headlight and 4wd switches I noticed have a different colour light ring around them, which would make it easier to determine one from the other - this is something many reviewers have pointed out has been a nuisance. If this is new, I'd be interested to see how practically this improves the issue in real world driving.
I currently drive a 14 all terrain with a corsa exhaust. Hard to see any difference between mine and this for 5g more. Tires and headlights? GM should just come out and say they aren't going to play with the raptor and the power wagon. I think I'd respect that stance a little more.
Coming soon to a mall near you. "Appliques"? Stickers? Really? in a 50k truck? Why isn't the trim something real like aluminum or some other metal? This is just a lame appearance package with some exhaust. Maximum profit margin.
+Mike Cav Nice ad hominem bro. I don't have anything against Chevy. If I was going out tomorrow to buy a full size truck I'd probably get a Silverado. No turbos or diesel and air suspension to take away from reliability.
+headcas620 Couldn't agree more. I'm a GM fan but this is a joke. Don't get me wrong i like the aesthetics but the price is ridiculous for some aesthetic appeal and no real improvement in off road prowess. Makes you wonder what they would charge if they actually came out with a raptor competitor with a long travel kit on it. My guess would be upwards of 65K
kristian arafat did you get the crew cab? how's the space for passengers? thinking of getting a Sierra or Silverado crew cab 2500hd on both and Duramax diesel
I honestly didnt need the extra room so i went for the double cab which was more than enough for me and i assume the crew cab is extremely spacious and can accommodate adults with no problem
A lot of you are shitting on this truck, saying that it's a poor attempt at competing against the raptor. Seems you're too stunned to realize that GMC had no intention in doing that with this truck. Raptor is for gnarly off roading. This would be just right for hitting the wood roads to go moose hunting. Of coarse you're not gunna do any true off roading in this truck, but it would be a hell of a lot better taking this on an old wood road to get a load of wood or get your moose than a typical pickup. Besides, I have the feeling GM's working on something that'll blow the raptor away. Mark my words, in 5 years from now they will have a true off road truck.
Just a joke... " we added tires, some black rims and a gay light bar". How about you add a Baja kits mid travel kit, 35's, different front bumper....boom. There you go. It'd outsell raptor
+Gage Davis yeah really not sure why for the price they charge for these "offroad trucks" all you get is some shit tires and a few accessories. Pretty steep price tag for that. For an extra 10-12 grand over a stock GMC I'd have that thing locked up, bumpered/whinched and possibly blown with 35's. These (minus the raptor) "offroad trucks" are just simple cash grabs for these companies and "deals" for the suckers. edit: The toyota just posted, and the dodge rebel (1500) are also crap. The power wagon on the other hand is a beast. Just need that equipment on the 1500!
I usually hate pick-ups. I usually think they are unnecessary. I usually think I'd rather have a Tesla, and be as environmentally-friendly as possible... But *FUUUUCK* this truck looks sexy...
+Aaronaitor yes and no they are competing in the same market place so one cannibalizing the other still means reduced profits for someone even if it isn't GM directly kinda like how the Dodge Dakota killed off the Jeep Comanche so long ago
+TexasDragon3907 but it doesnt really matter whether they compete against themselves or not. GMC is to Chevy what Lexus is to Toyota. and all the money goes to the same place.
No it isn't Chevy is to GMC what scion is to Lexus, Chevy does NOT own GMC General Motors owns both brands. I don't work at GM so I can't tell you exactly how the money is distributed but considering how it's worked in the past I can give it a good guess. Mercury, there not around anymore why? Look at what they had to offer in there final days. Nothing but boring re-branded Fords that sold worse than a normal Ford or Lincolns. Or how about Olds? Oldsmobile in it's finale days sold nothing that stuck out from its siblings sales where down and someone had to end up on the chopping block. Back in the muscle car days they were at least using different engines per brand but after they streamlined it to everyone using the same thing it didn't make sense to take up valuable space on a production line that could have been used for something that made a higher profit margin or at least's that's my two cents Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Hummer, Mercury, Scion, and Saturn are all gone and all had something in common. None of them brought anything new to the table that you couldn't have gotten a better deal at with a different brand. You don't want one brand cannibalize another because nobody wants to have to lay off an entire brands worth of workers
This video is all well and good, but why hasn't there been a no actual review for this truck? I know it's not as popular as the Rebel or Raptor but with that locking diff and 4WD/AWD system in conjunction with the hill descent control it can't be all bad? This truck model is in its second year of production and nobody has driven it for a review.
the only serious off road oriented thing I've seen on this is the good years. the ram rebel, ram power wagon, or the ford raptor would leave this thing in the dust off road.
GMC should have included the sport bar LED lights with the package! I bought this truck and I cant talk myself to buy the $1000 OEM lights for the sport bar!
Plastic fantastic!! All show and no go. Love the roll bar lights. What are you gonna light? The roof of your truck? Little bitty tires, no ground clearance, leather seats, no lockers, independent suspension, no live axle, and loads of plastic trim. This thing will barely get over a speed bump. Mall Crawler.
It's not a bad looking truck. What I want to know is why has GM come out with, what, 5, 6 special editions in the last 2 years? Why so many? They don't really offer anything that you couldn't already get in their regular trucks. Most even have the same features as the other special editions.
Raptor is still the best "off road" truck from factory. All I see is a same slt Sierra with off road tires and black wheels. The sports bar only looks good on the Colorado period.
Would anyone really take their $50k luxury truck off road though? I know I wouldn't. I thought Chevy sold that black out package that was off road based , isn't that cheaper
well what GM tried to do is a capable pickup truck that you can do most of what you want but like a Truck not an offroad truck .. you can tow up to 10,000 pound with that pickup and the ford raptor is 8000 pound max tow. so gm did a diffrent move and maybe they gonna do!more this is the Real!(chevy Z-71)
No offense to GM, or any manufacturer for that matter, but I'm not about to take a 50k truck with an appearance package and stock suspension height offroad. I'd take a more reasonably priced truck then lift it, wheels & tires, winch, light bar(s), possibly heavier duty depending on the base vehicle. Sure you'd put a pretty penny into it, but it will be offroad worthy when you're done with it.
I think the base truck is terrific looking, I've really been enamored with these new GMC's lately. But as an "offroad" package, this is pretty lame. The tires are really the only thing of value (I ran these GY's on my old Grand Cherokee and LOVED them), though they are a few sizes too small. Once you add a leveling kit or mild lift you'd have to go bigger anyway. And the sport bar and lights look cheap and tacky, like something from JC Whitney. If the bar didn't have the side panels it might look just "ok", but IMO they cheapen the look. Also, while the lights are LED and probably function well, they just look tiny and cheap. I'd either like to see two larger rectangular lights per side, or just a full width LED lightbar. A matching spare might be a nice touch as well, maybe with a pre-runner sty;e bed mount. IMO a base version of this truck with a few K in mods would be a much better investment than this package. Kudos to GM though, as they've found another way to separate people from their money. I'm sure they'll sell plenty. The prices of trucks these days boggle my mind though...low 50's and it's not even loaded. Yikes!
They've went downhill IMO. I had a '10 Sierra Offroad and it at least had locking hubs and a manual transfer case. This is cheeze. Mall crawler indeed.
Don't get me wrong. It's a beautiful truck, but it looks like they spent more time making it "look" off road ready than actually making off road worthy. Yeah they put VERY good tires on it and rancho shocks on it, but reguardless they didn't lift it that much, they didn't put any kind of decent skid plates on it, theres no lockers, the ground clearance isn't any better (At least it looks like), etc. Its a very nice truck, but if you're seriously looking into going off road with a brand new stock vehicle, for the money you'd be better in a Jeep Wrangler or a Raptor. NO HATE PLEASE, IT'S JUST MY OPINION.
Roman, I just love the belly hanging over the jeans look you're currently running. There aren't many men of your age and physique who would have the courage to be seen in public looking like that. Kudos. 😍👍🏼👏🏻
I feel like this is kind of a half assed raptor competitor but with a fancy interior... And what ever happened to making very off-road worthy vehicles minus the premium interiors/features? There's gotta be a sizable market for vehicles with quality engine/tranny/suspension components but arent done up so fancy to the point where they're $50k plus...for many its whats under the body, not what you sit inside that matters most...
What is with all these "off road" gimmick trucks from all the manufacturers today? They put some trash shocks and a thin skid pate on a production truck with some decals hoping some sad sack with low self esteem wants to sign a 7 year note to drive around like a poser.
it has the face of a canyon and the body of a sierra... great work
Should have a 6.2
+jacob bennett Why? The 365hp 5.3 is more than capable.
+Nick Motsarsky because a 6.2 has more power making it more than, more than capable.
+Geoffrey Hunt I hate that the 6.2 requires premium fuel. The 6.2 acceleration is ridiculous compared to the 5.3, though.
Roman you were very kind to the rep. In your own words please describe this truck. nice exhaust and black tires..and...oh sport bar. You looked like you wanted to laugh at him.
make the Canyon more like this . it'll be dope
+GMC Jae Yeah, the smaller truck would be better for off roading
I thought the Colorado & canyon were available with a package just like this?
+02to06TUNDRAFAN haven't seen the Canyon with this package
+GMC Jae
Yeah it's called the ZR2 and it's coming out in 2016/2017. It has a lift, locking rear and front diff, and all terrain tires. It might even get a diesel too. Gas or diesel I will buy 1 if its a crew cab. If not ill just get a Tacoma TRD off road.
+leadnsteel it will ONLY have a diesel.
I noticed something here at 4:25 that I'm not sure if it is different or upgraded from before, but the headlight and 4wd switches I noticed have a different colour light ring around them, which would make it easier to determine one from the other - this is something many reviewers have pointed out has been a nuisance. sooooooo fucken true
+Mike Cav Nice ad hominem bro. I don't have anything against Chevy. If I was going out tomorrow to buy a full size truck I'd probably get a Silverado. No turbos or diesel and air suspension to take away from reliability.
+headcas620 if you look at the price of the GM Truck for 15 to 20 K more you could make it this Troy or after for the same price!
What . . . You don't want to buy the Poser Package?
+headcas620 Couldn't agree more. I'm a GM fan but this is a joke. Don't get me wrong i like the aesthetics but the price is ridiculous for some aesthetic appeal and no real improvement in off road prowess. Makes you wonder what they would charge if they actually came out with a raptor competitor with a long travel kit on it. My guess would be upwards of 65K
Did they put a 6.6 in it for the 2018 model?
"Cant start it up at the show." (*Hemi roars in the background*)
Lol he said the tires were the most important part of the package
+publicwhore Exactly! GM has the lamest "packages" of any automaker out there.
+publicwhore The tires are the most important part of off-roading besides 4-wheel drive. So he isn't wrong.
+publicwhore The duratacs are legitimately great offroad tires too
hunger993 I got em on my 02 Sierra. They're great in the snow, mud, and rain!
+jdubz170ify Truck first, then tires amigo. You won't go anywhere without the truck.
This is commonsense.
When are the 2017 duramaxs coming out.?
i just leased this car today and im going to pick it up tomorrow the exhaust sounds amazing
The car is so nice very luxury oriented on the inside but looks bad ass on the outside oh and they exhaust is literally the best part
kristian arafat did you get the crew cab? how's the space for passengers? thinking of getting a Sierra or Silverado crew cab 2500hd on both and Duramax diesel
I honestly didnt need the extra room so i went for the double cab which was more than enough for me and i assume the crew cab is extremely spacious and can accommodate adults with no problem

How long is the bed on the all terrain x gmc?
is there a upgraded off-road suspension?
Any rear or font locker?
Rear a/c vents? lockers ?
Just a joke... " we added tires, some black rims and a gay light bar". How about you add a Baja kits mid travel kit, 35's, different front bumper....boom. There you go. It'd outsell raptor
What's the story with that Kia SUV visible in the video at 5:10 ?
What's the main difference between the Silverados in the Sierras?
This is ridiculous. No front lockers, no winch no sway bar disconnect, no beadlocks...
It's a gmc not a crawler
+CarnivoreTV kind of a piss poor example of an "all terrain" truck
+CarnivoreTV and yes, it's a mall CRAWLER
+Gage Davis yeah really not sure why for the price they charge for these "offroad trucks" all you get is some shit tires and a few accessories. Pretty steep price tag for that. +letterpool I completely agree
is it a half ton?
I have one of these had the bar in the bed changed to a tonnue cover i love it
Can start it up?? There is some doing burn outs in the background..
Nice looking truck!
Why cant GM bring back the 3:73 axle? Or the 4:10 for that matter?
I usually hate pick-ups. I usually think they are unnecessary. I usually think I'd rather have a Tesla, and be as environmentally-friendly as possible...
But *FUUUUCK* this truck looks sexy...
Why would Chevy be worried? They are legit the same company XD
+Aaronaitor yes and no they are competing in the same market place so one cannibalizing the other still means reduced profits for someone even if it isn't GM directly kinda like how the Dodge Dakota killed off the Jeep Comanche so long ago

It needs to have bigger tires, the ground clearance is horrible.
3:42 axle ratio? Did I hear that right
Why can't you start it? Clearly someone else in the background is doing donuts inside...
+Fugue State lol ikr
This is a Sierra with an "appearance package" so pretty Much a pavement queen
Six years later, wish I could find these
Can you do video on gmc elevation edition please 😊
TFL with another great vid as always. can't wait for the comparison vid against the 2017 Raptor which I know you guys will do.
This video is all well and good, but why hasn't there been a no actual review for this truck? I know it's not as popular as the Rebel or Raptor but with that locking diff and 4WD/AWD system in conjunction with the hill descent control it can't be all bad? Only thing missing is that sweet dash interface they have for the Denalis
Wait in another video they said it has 455hp now its lower???
stock suspension?
Could you put a Lance 1172 truck Camper on this truck
bring the gmc sierra single cab 6.2!
+ranger l/t Do you mean women who dress like men ?
yup a true SS and maybe the supercharged 6.2??
MrKeyboardCommando EXACTLY!
ranger l/t Great !!! The sooner the better !!!
+Orlando Ortiz Will never happen. they want you to spend the money on an SLT or Denali to get the 6.2
What more could I want? Oh, I don't know. A single cab, long bed version would be cool. A lower overall price would be even cooler..
why does GM not put AC for the rear passengers?
What did Chevrolet have at their booth guys?
I parked next to an elevation edition last night. cool looking.
anybody else notice the blue knob by the 4x4 knob?
It's a pre production truck keep in mind but It looks like the knob of the chevy Colorado with the light bar so that's what I'm assuming
+Bill Dingo yea that's true
+Jiggle223 i was hoping for a locker switch too! lol
+Game Bred Duramax it has an electronic locking rear diff. by Eaton
Eric Rollins that would be a 1st,gm has always used G lockers in there Z71 trucks
the only serious off road oriented thing I've seen on this is the good years. the ram rebel, ram power wagon, or the ford raptor would leave this thing in the dust off road.
I had to build a colorado like this at work. That stupid rear bar and lights belong in the dumpter. The lights don't go past the roof line.
mall crawler. Drop the fancy crap, add the 6.2L, 3.73's, lockers, rubber floors, removable(to clean) seat covers, and keep it under 35k.
how cool, a truck with small tires and an exhaust I could bolt on in 10 minutes
+Mike Cav U mad!
It's way cheaper to do the add ons yourself. Cost 20 grand more just for tires, shocks, and a metal bar?
GMC should have included the sport bar LED lights with the package! I bought this truck and I cant talk myself to buy the $1000 OEM lights for the sport bar!
Damn!!!!! TFL bringing it to you 1st!
At 20 seconds Stu is looking you up and down thinking "who is this clown?"
well dang, the avalanche and the escalade ext would look cool as hell too..
Nice done guys.
It's not a bad looking truck. What I want to know is why has GM come out with, what, 5, 6 special editions in the last 2 years? Why so many? They don't really offer anything that you couldn't already get in their regular trucks. Most even have the same features as the other special editions.
not sure about the usability of the front bumper for off roading ...
With the availability of lockers to the Manuf.. You would think their top of the line 4x4 would have them front and rear ........
I just love the porn music intro & outro on your auto show vids!
I love all the FLT videos but for some reason I always have a hard time hearing Roman. Maybe some lapel microphones?
I like the roll bar
I've talked to people who build off road trucks. They say King builds the Best shocks.
I wonder what other colors it comes in. I think I've found my new pavement princess. Good looking truck
2:01 “deep throaty”...??
Their accessories are like- Chevy Avalanche: Never Forget
Raptor is still the best "off road" truck from factory. All I see is a same slt Sierra with off road tires and black wheels. The sports bar only looks good on the Colorado period.
MAXIMUM PROFIT MARGIN ENGAGED !
"The least off road worthy truck GMC has to offer is any Sierra with the Goodyear SR-As"
Would anyone really take their $50k luxury truck off road though? I know I wouldn't. I thought Chevy sold that black out package that was off road based , isn't that cheaper
I like it, but I'd rather just buy a regular SLT Z71 and get the add-ons myself.
MAJORLY WANT
well what GM tried to do is a capable pickup truck that you can do most of what you want but like a Truck not an offroad truck .. you can tow up to 10,000 pound with that pickup and the ford raptor is 8000 pound max tow. so gm did a diffrent move and maybe they gonna do!more this is the Real!(chevy Z-71)
Typo in description box. GMC not GMS
Why would he say if the guys at Chevy are worried aout losing business over this?? GMC is Chevy.
I like the diesel version of the all terrain x hd, It is like taking steroids.
3.42 gear? You aren't gonna tow anything with that. They say they upgraded the off road capabilities. But really it's just an appearance package
Yikes!
Lockers?
You could probably build an older one that would be better off road
At :33 you hear tires squealing and an accident happened
Very sexy truck, but as others have stated.... It needs at least 35 inch tires, and more ground clearance.
so this is GMs version of the Raptor and the Rebel
Roman, I just love the belly hanging over the jeans look you're currently running. There aren't many men of your age and physique who would have the courage to be seen in public looking like that. Kudos. 😍👍🏼👏🏻
JonP227GT Am I correct in assuming you also embrace the bulging belly look ?
It's cool and all but for the price I can probably get the new Raptor which is way more capable.
I doubt that many people will actually off-road in this.
Gmc be like: bigger tires, roll cage nailed to the bed, no chrome and slight lift. 100k pls
Nothing like 2 guys in suits talking about a truck. Come back with overalls, a tin of Copenhagen and a bed full of hay and then I'll come back.
Nothing done with the suspension WTF!
What is with all these "off road" gimmick trucks from all the manufacturers today? They put some trash shocks and a thin skid pate on a production truck with some decals hoping some sad sack with low self esteem wants to sign a 7 year note to drive around like a poser.
+Zack Zander They sell.
Price is low to mid 50s!! LMAO I just bought a used truck for $3400 straight cash! Mind you its a 2003 piece of shit FML
congrats. anything else?
the raptor has competition
Sort of lol
not really
It Already does the ram runner and the reaper
+LimkoGaming an TRD pro
+wasup Not from this it doesnt!
I'm putting that sport bar in the bed on my 3500 Denali
So a Z71 with an exhaust and MT tires and a stupid rollbar wow
if it was a turbo diesel it would be awesome
