One nice thing about my Silverado is the space under the seat that allows my two dogs to spread out with kids in the seats. Can’t quite do this with this truck, thus the need for a bed topper, then I could remove the glass and have a suburban. Again great review, you both hit all the good parts.

I'm typically a Ford guy but I'll have to say this is currently my favorite EV truck on the market. I love the overall design inside and out and I think they really thought everything through to make it functional. Be nice if they would have put 2 receptacles in the front frunk area instead of one but that's not the end of the world. Hopefully they add UA-cam and Netflix for the center screen as that's quite nice when you're parked or charging. The 800 volt architecture and 350+ kw charging speed along with the properly sized battery really makes it worthy of replacing a half ton gas truck and someone like myself who tows an RV could easily own this truck. I don't like EVs because they are "greener" per say I just like all of the extra torque and less maintenance essentially while being able to charge in my own garage whenever I want. I'll be in the market again in the end of 2027 so we'll see what Ford's upcoming EV truck code named T3 brings.
This was a great review! Honest, balanced in +/- comparisons with other electric trucks, and done in a short video packed with detail. Looks like GM designed a great truck. I appreciate what you said about the lower efficiency (and huge battery) in this truck. Compared to an equivalent ICE truck, the efficiency is still great and with more and more of our power coming from wind and solar, the efficiency is less of a concern.
Great job you guys. You were rapid fire information with no wasted time. I didn't feel, at all, that I wasted any time watching and listening to your post.
Love your presentation of this truck, I have been holding out purchasing the Chevy Silverado RST EV, to see how much better the interior and luxury that the Denali trim brings, and GM you have done it, a great truck for road tripping and especially for me a great truck to tow my Airo camper RV and not need a generator to have my all electric camping experience.
Yeah but it’s an option you don’t have with any other vehicle other than the Silverado EV. People that need to use it likely don’t care about a little dust here and there.
Exactly, even with the back window open all the dust sucks in. These vehicles seemed to be designed for the California climate, fair weather only, not for the rest of the continent. Too many nooks and crannies to cram up with snow, slush, salt and sand. Not a fan of those rear seat floor trays, Ford got that right in my use case (large dog). The range has me interested. But at least you do not have to worry about exhaust fumes😜
A Yukon version of this truck would be great for family road trips, you could drive all day without needing to charge. All we need is more hotels with 80A charging
Also kudos for the GM rep being honest about the sustainability aspects throughout the video; it's the first time I've heard a manufacturer rep be blunt about their product. I think it's refreshing. Most people don't go into a dealer and request the sustainability credentials of their ICE vehicle, even if they care about the environment. Separating sustainability from capability is going to help GM transition a lot of traditional truck owners into EV. For one it will help the truck stand on it's on two feet, rather the impression that it's being forced on the consumer as a requirement rather than something they want. Further, they are removing the excuses for not driving an EV. Too many of the current products and their owners demand sacrifices from EV owners. For example: "slow down if you want range", "you can tow further if you go 20mph under the speed limit", "don't use the heater in freezing cold, use the seat warmers to save battery", "no one can go that far without stopping", "you don't need that much battery", "do a lot of planning before your trip". Who wants to switch over and deal with all that, when ICE can do it without sacrifices? GM has said, "have your cake and eat it too, we've removed all of your excuses; come join the fun EV truck brand where you won't even realize you're in an EV".
This would be my second choice for an everyday driver. 1st choice if I needed to tow on a daily basis. Cybertruck still wins it for me for an everyday vehicle. It's way more efficient and though very polarizing in the looks department, I prefer it over cookie cutter style trucks.
Very impressive - I have never said that about a GMC before (I owned one of their trucks before (tank)) - cool to see them innovating- hopefully they sell many of these to their base customers
You are correct about regen being stronger than Tesla. Actually, All current GM EVs seem to have better regeneration and one-pedal driving experience compared to Tesla. You want maximum regeneration as possible, because you can always “choose” to have less, just by feathering pedal. You ideally never want to cause brake pad wear if you can recover the energy instead. I’ve driven lots of EVs an none of them compare to GM’s one pedal driving experience…note how smooth you stop , and start. The brakes seamlessly engage, and hold. Better than Tesla , and far far better than ford Mach E, which actually gives a “clunking” feeling when brakes are engaged and disengaged with every stop.
Great truck, lacking in the range department though for the segment that needs it. In general you’re not doing apples to apples though. Much nicer and more comfortable interior in the Denali. CT more comparable to RST or LT Premium trim.
@@markplott4820 It seems that way when you live in a city. My parents live 60 miles away. In their small town, there are not even level 2 chargers. Up until 2 months ago, the closest charger was 50+ miles away. Now there's a supercharger 30 miles away. When I visit them with a full car and full load of kids in the winter, I leave at 100% and get there at around 59%. Over the days an nights that come, I easily drop another 20%. I have a Tesla Model 3, RWD LFP. I now have a plug at their house I could use, but when we first got the car, we didn't. There were times when just to make it back, I'd pull in the garage at 8 or 9%.
it's intriguing for the range. I do a fair amount of towing and that is my major disappointment with the CT so far. Soldi first driving impressions. Looking forward to more content on this one.
The triple mid gate is such a cool idea that would be made 1000% more useful if it had some sort of a waterproof soft divider/shell type thing that came out from behind the seats to allow the extra storage length without filling your cabin with rain/snow/dirt/cold. Without that, there are so few scenarios to use it.

It almost does, but way more fun than ICE. I gave up my V8 ICE for EV Truck for the driving experience. As long as it doesn't cost more than ICE and no more range concerns, I was happy to get into the EV. Currently $30 to fill up at home, $75 to fill up from 0-100 on Tesla's fast charges with a membership. Honestly, it's about what I'd spend on premium gas for the 6.2L V8.

We had a model Y performance and sold it for the model X plaid and we also have a model S plaid but I’ll be honest and I like this GMC EV Denali better than the cyber truck.
That strong regen is great for towing RVs in BC Canada with our many high mountain passes makes for much more efficient towing it tops all three of the competition including Cyber truck, Rivian and Ford F150 lightening.
PS: that electric toothbrush with built-in “water-flosser” has me intrigued. I think you have me sold. Gonna try one! I love my extra strong WaterPik. (They discontinued) I’m a retired dentist ;-)
It’s simple, Instead of targeting a small audience like the Cyberbeast doing 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds for a truck. GMC is trying to target actual truck drivers who could care significantly more about range than toy thrills. I am actually shocked that GM is far closer to getting to that 500 mile than Tesla is for a truck even though Tesla promised that 5 years ago.
I love what GMC is doing in terms of battery and making their EVs look like their gas counterparts. 400 mile range should be the standard in 2025. Tesla, more battery please.
Great truck! I opted for a Rivian R1T as I value the tech and handling of the smaller truck better, but if I needed a full sized truck would have definitely gone with the Sierra EV.
Grid is getting way, way cleaner. You guys should do a vid or segment just on that. Also batteries are approaching 97% recyclable. You guys should do a vid on that too.
Thanks Kim. I'm glad GMC sent you to try their truck. Seems like a compelling truck. However, the EV platform reflects how much GM cares about selling electric cars right now. Sadly, with this product they failed in the most key area being no 14-50 plug. Also sad that GM didn't choose a scalable approach with super cruise. Crazy that they have to learn about a new road and then map it just to add it to the system. Also crazy that the battery alone weighs as much as a gas Serria. When you said the truck weighed 9,000 lbs, I was astounded. Sad that GM doesn't focus more on efficiency.
The Sierra EV is the best looking Truck on the road today, just wish it wasn’t soooooooooooo freaking expensive. Would love to buy one if it were loaded out for under $70k
Great revue. I'm really considering getting this pickup truck. Looks much better than the Silverado. Now, as far as party tricks is concerned, what do you think about the Mercedes G-Turn?
Does it have Full Self Driving? How many Watt Hours per mile? Can it wade through water? Does it need PPF or a ceramic coat to protect the paint? Where do you find 800v chargers on a Road Trip? Is entertainment included for long waits at chargers? Does it come with an AM Radio or Garage Door opener?
No FSD, but Super Cruise. Mi/kW depends on speed and weather conditions but 1.9-2.3 pretty standard. Do you mean a flooded road, yes; a river? No. No car needs PPF/Ceramic, it's nice to have. Find 800V don't matter now if you can get the stated charging speeds of up to 350kW which you can only get for the first 30% anyway. Still EA/Tesla are upgrading stalls. What entertainment? Most people use their phones or tablets. AM radio yes, garage opener, no.
GM's poor battery technology is hindering this truck's potential. They could come up with better technology to use less battery and therefore less weight, and more efficiency. I don't agree that the front looks manly, I don't like the look at all. But I do love that truck bed and tailgate, that is sweet. And the available electrical power front and back and the frunk are awesome too.
Do the mirrors fold in. Heated Steering wheel? Heated seats? Heads up display? I like the truck but if certain options aren't included then it's a no. The crab walk is really cool. It's coming down to this truck or my Favorite which is the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring
The efficiency of EV motors is great but the issue of mileage of Trucks pulling may necessitate a transmission to allow for higher mileage with a lower torque at higher speeds.
@@markplott4820Cybertruck can't descend a hill with a heavy trailer on regen and overheats the inadequate brakes. Silverado/Sierra, EV can go down the same hill with the same trailer usi g regen alone.
would have like to know how quite you thought about the interior, does it have massage seat options, I have a Ram Laramie and the rear AC vent on the middle console was not keeping up with the heat. I could see the same issue with this truck. I guess we may have to wait for your family road trip.
I'm kinda likin' this. I still like the Cybertruck too though. I might be a two truck EV guy. The Cybertruck at least for the bed cover and another (possibly this one) for the features the Cybertruck doesn't have as well as for other reasons.
More batteries just makes it heavier, more expensive and gives it faster depreciation. I was amazed at the GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado EV, but there are some glaring omissions made to the feature list. #1 For a work truck in a work environment, some buyers may not want the glass panoramic roof. Thing is, they don't offer a power sunshade cover. EVERY SINGLE EV WITH A FIXED GLASS ROOF SHOULD HAVE A SUNSHADE COVER. The heat can be dispelled using the ventilated seats, but that takes longer than not letting the heat in by covering the glass. Furthermore, when you're waiting to charge at a charging station, you have no respite. Chinese auto makers are putting heating/ventilation and massage in the 1st row AND second row - for less money. #2 No massaging seat feature. WHY DIDN'T GM simply design the exact same seat mechanics for the *cheaper* Lyriq, and all their other Ultium products? #3 It weighs 4.5 tons but only tows around 10,500 pounds. Just about any of the 5-L or higher gas engines does better than that and costs about half the price. $100,000+. That's a lot. The feature I like most about GM Ultium trucks is their power delivery system for 110- 240v out. Great for camping. But if your house isn't prepped for reverse-power delivery, it may not make a difference.
Watched all the other journalists reviews, and IMO yours was the best, well done you two! I plan to buy one as soon as I can get a bed topper for the dogs. Maybe the GM engineers and market specialists should consult with you first. All those toilet-seat thumb typers really know their stuff!
And it still has better fit and finish and offerings then that Elon refrigerator
Cool shades PJ 😎
I love the heads-up display! Maybe I missed it but I don't know why Tesla doesn't have a heads-up display. I’d enjoy driving this GMC
NOT needed , since you can get FSD from $99/mo.
and you can add aftermarket HUD if you want one.

Been waiting on this review. Thanks
It is a great full sized truck. I bought the SEV. Very capable pick up for utility uses.
TESLA cybertruck offers MORE utility & use case.
@@markplott4820 More utility? Please explain.
@@EdMiFElon told him so. That's as far as the Tesla Stan brain goes.
With the keep mood, can you use the keyfab or App to remote lock the doors without stopping the keep mood?
"You're so vain. You probably think this song is about you." - Cybertruck (probably)
I’m totally liking this truck
Even if they had a MANUAL sunshade I'd feel better about it.
Great truck! I opted for a Rivian R1T as I value the tech and handling of the smaller truck better, but if I needed a full sized truck would have definitely gone with the Sierra EV.
with that price tag. I'll buy another house
Grid is getting way, way cleaner. You guys should do a vid or segment just on that. Also batteries are approaching 97% recyclable. You guys should do a vid on that too.
wow, beautiful truck!
😁
I have the Denali Edition 1 best truck every!
Where do you pur spare tire?
@@Ron841000That's what I like about the Silverado EV work truck. It has a standard spare tire carrier underneath.
Amazin engineering. Impressive truck.
BTW Tesla cybertruck OUTSOLD the ICE jeep gladiator & Santa Fe.
Nice review. How much money are they losing per truck?
GM said their EVs will be profitable by the end of this year.
For smart companies ( Tesla), it all about profitability.
actually Tesla SAFETY is #1.
Supercruise isn't being evestigated for killing people. Maybe the more careful appr3is superior.
Great review of an amazing truck!
The Sierra EV is the best looking Truck on the road today, just wish it wasn’t soooooooooooo freaking expensive. Would love to buy one if it were loaded out for under $70k
And I would love a house for $150k
Cybertruck turns more heads and has MOST likes of any Truck.
Sorry, you can’t have Champagne taste on a beer pocketbook 🤣
Check out the Silverado EV LT trim or LT Premium trim. They're hitting the lots not, not much different and better pricing.
@@markplott4820Not among actual truck people, it doesn't. Cybertruck sales will dry up once the Tesla Stans get theirs.

Warranty would be my number one concern.
Thank you, it seems incredible!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Love it! I want one!!
I have a Hummer EV, and CT beast.. prefer my Cybertruck
Cybertruck needs the PPF far more, being rust prone. Cybertruck also dies in car washes.
Where are you getting the 215kwh number from? what I've seen everywhere is 205 kwh.
Trucks are for work! If you can only tow a heavy load for 100-150 miles, it’s not a truck.
Ultium bro! 🤣
How much do the batteries cost to replace after 6 years? Assuming they last that long.
The charging is on the left side not the "right" side ;)
Nice truck. It has lots of cool bells and whistles, I love the HUD. Unfortunately there is no FSD or Supercharger network.
Yes to supercharging network
Supercruise is better than FSD. It isn't killing people.
Tesla should have used 150-175kw battery. No reason the Cybertruck shouldn't drive 500+ miles.
Sure, for another $5-10k
I drove it on an 18,095 mile roadtrip. Range wasn't an issue.
Cybertruck is UNLIMITED range w/ Superchargers .
NEW V4 Supercharger cabinets allow 500 kW Cybertruck charging.
@markplott4820 lol that's like saying gas cars have unlimited range with gas stations.
@@ItsBinhRepaired - thats the idea.
except ICE stations are not SUSTAINABLE.
Tesla uses Renewable Energy to charge Megapacks @ Supercharger.
Do the mirrors fold in. Heated Steering wheel? Heated seats? Heads up display? I like the truck but if certain options aren't included then it's a no. The crab walk is really cool. It's coming down to this truck or my Favorite which is the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring
What is the cost
👍Only thing missing is a removable roof.
They have the Hummer for that market.
The efficiency of EV motors is great but the issue of mileage of Trucks pulling may necessitate a transmission to allow for higher mileage with a lower torque at higher speeds.
TESLA cybertruck pulls uphill FASTER than any other Truck on Earth.
@@markplott4820Cybertruck can't descend a hill with a heavy trailer on regen and overheats the inadequate brakes. Silverado/Sierra, EV can go down the same hill with the same trailer usi g regen alone.
As always...

Nice video Kim. Nice truck. I prefer the Rivian R1T
would have like to know how quite you thought about the interior, does it have massage seat options, I have a Ram Laramie and the rear AC vent on the middle console was not keeping up with the heat. I could see the same issue with this truck. I guess we may have to wait for your family road trip.
That is a bloody impressive truck and it looks to be much better built than the CT, is it not?
Yes, and so cheap! Perfect for your everyday use.

Best EV Reviewers 🎉
I'm kinda likin' this. I still like the Cybertruck too though.
I might be a two truck EV guy. The Cybertruck at least for the bed cover and another (possibly this one) for the features the Cybertruck doesn't have as well as for other reasons.
i'm constantly surprised so many thing hands free driving is around the corner when it's not actually close to it.
Tesla FSD handsfree V12.5.6 is incredible.
@@markplott4820Until it kills you.
Does it comes in white diamond?
I love it!
Good review. In your opinion will Tesla ever make a pickup?
😱 FSD is not just hands free...wow..
