- I installed some rough cut lumber in the new cabin addition as well as flooring. Just have to insulate the ceiling, sheet it, and floor the living room and kitchen area and it will have a much more finished look. Then it’s time for trim and the kitchen build. #diy #homestead #outdoors

Carpets collect a lot of Dirt and dust. You can always lay a few area rugs around if you like.🤗

If you want to have the feeling of carpet, you could always use inexpensive area rugs in strategic places (like next to the bed, etc). A lot of carpet stores will also sell odd-sized area rugs made up from off cuts of product.

We really like the flooring. It's also really good for people with allergies. Carpet harbours mold and fungus.

The walls and the floor look great.
Love the cabin look. One suggestion with rough sawn lumber is to consider sanding it later bc it does catch dirt more easily. I do like the dark look, however balance the wood with lighter tones for other furniture pieces will balance the home.

The rustic look appeals to me. It's a Minnesota cabin. It's only a dream for most outdoor adventurists.
I love how even on the inside build videos, Skeets'mageets (aka Luckiest dog in the world) is just hanging with the family. I would keep the same flooring throughout and never do carpet - that's what area rugs are for! Keep it up bud looking amazing!.

The flooring is beautiful. Carpeting would have been hard to keep clean. Keep the flooring all the same and each room will flow into the next and not look choppy. It looks wonderful!!

Kyle, that slab wood sure brings back memories. Back in 1967/68 my grandma would have that delivered to her house in 16" lengths in Iron Mtn, MI, then me & my cousin fed it through the basement window to my uncle to stack in the wood room. Gravity heat back then. Take Care Now

The flooring looks beautiful and I suggest you use the same flooring throughout the house. That will make it all flow well. We have hardwood throughout our entire home, including the kitchen. Only the bathrooms have tile floors. The professional hardwood installer suggested we have the direction of the wood the same in every room to add to the continuity and we are glad we listened to him. Having all the rooms going east/west or north/south, whichever direction your bedroom is going, will also make the house feel bigger and eliminate that choppy look. I absolutely LOVE you and Sierra and how thoughtful you are about everything you do. God bless you both and your new baby!❤

Two words: area rugs. As large or as small as you like, can move them around seasonally, more sanitary than wall-to-wall carpeting. An added expense? Yes- unless you all take up the art of rag braid rug making, lol but something you can bite off in affordable chunks. Love the progress thanks for bringing us along.
Kyle good to see you useing finishing nails on the walls. Lots of times everyone uses regular nails with the large heads. You two are going to have so much space. You guys work so hard, most young people do not have the work ethics like you do.

Urethane over the floor so it lasts years you have no paved driveway the dirt will sand it if you do not so save the new look it helps stick it together keeps out buggy's too !

I would have put up a clear vapor barrier and tuck taped the walls before you put up the boards. It would help stop the cold winter draft from getting through and keep the heat in.

You dont want to make a house like that too tight. Modern Homes run air exchangers to compensatr for the lack of natural draft. Also being that it's a wood burning stove heated home if you don't have a natural draft you will have issues .
@@seanchurchill5844 Putting a vapour barrier on the inside of the exterior walls wont make it to tight on that addition.

I like the look of wood. Some would say that much wood is overwhelming but I personally love it. Can't wait to see the completed addition. Kyle you look so much better with a boys haircut. Lol. ( that's what I tell my sons when they get a haircut)

I love the walls and the flooring and agree about the ease of keeping it clean. One thing to keep in mind is that dogs often have problems with laminate flooring because it is to slick and they can get injured because of the lack of traction. As they get older that problem can get worse. I have seen a channel that had to put carpets throughout his home because his old husky could not stand up otherwise.

It looks so nice. I like the flooring. Carpet is difficult to keep clean. Area rugs look nice and can be easier to keep clean. You're doing a fantastic job. It's looking amazing!
I live in a wood cabin with all wood floors. Area carpets are great to warm up a sitting space and next to your bed. They’re easy to clean and give decorative accents.
The rough cut wooden walls look awesome. Good idea for a cabin. Would look great with a stone looking laminate flooring. Looks great with the flooring they used.

The pine edges by the woodshed use it to wrap the outside of the woodshed to make it look like logs
Those pine planks will burn hot & fast, be ready with large slow burning wood on top. Addition is looking great. Reco on kitchen: do a plain white backslash cuz it will look clean & brighten area. Love your vids Kyle.❤❤❤❤

Noticed there wasn't a waterproof barrier installed on the outside, or vapor barrier inside. Never any problems with leaks or moisture build-up? The pine boards look great!
