It literally made me sad when Northern Lion sounded so happy to be so close but I saw there was only a minute left.
I fuckin swear I saw that death coming from a mile away. I literally jumped up and started clapping. Love this.
according to the wiki: the hedjet allows you to see in dark levels without need of a light source, it causes the ghost to never spawn, and (this is it's primary function BTW) it allows you to open the door to the city of gold (this also requires the scepter thing from anubis, but the hedjet stays with the character while the scepter does not.

Northernlion... just a heads up. It's impossible for the altar to give you an item you already have. So buying an item from the shop, eliminates it as a possible "drop" from the altar. Also, the jetpack and the cape are under the same variable... If you don't own jetpack or cape, the altar will give the cape. If you already have the cape it gives a jetpack.

Average eyesight is called 20/20 which means you can read at 20 feet what most people can at 20 feet. Going forward it may be difficult to tell what is the best option, but after that you can see (sight) that a previous (hind) decision was better. It means that it is easy to look back on previous decisions and clearly decide which was the better choice or solution, usually implying that the choice that was made was wrong, or not as good as the other option(s).

"Perfect vision" is a common misnomer for 20/20 vision. Many eye doctors will acknowledge vision better than 20/20.

hindsight is looking back on a mistake of the past, with a perfect view of what you should have done.
20/20 means perfect vision. basically saying that it's obvious what you should have done when the mistake is already made, and there's no point in reflecting on the past

As far as I know, he stopped the series briefly when his capture card died, or something along those lines. The latest 3/4 episodes have been him testing his new capture card, so he revived it for test purposes only. He hasn't completed (Gone to Hell) just yet, so if he brings it back in full force, that's the objective he'll go for.
ya i think it works like the bottom number is how far the average person can see something and the top number is how far you can see (ie, 20/15, the average person needs to be 15 meters away to see something that you can see from 20 meters away.) its a ratio so it does not have to be meters.

So glad to see Spelunky back on your video feed NL, you really should consider ghost Run(ning), let the ghost spawn and get him to fly over any large gems, they turn into Diamonds worth $5000 each if you can keep avoiding the ghost.
Tip again: If you want to save the damsel on the first jungle floor, just stick it to the worm's orange ball and despite it being eaten by the worm it will be waiting for you at the end of the level :)

I would play it. Spiders are pretty cool.
The Head Statue appears only on the 2nd and 3rd levels of the Ice Caves, and if you get the Damsel and turn it into the exit (or the Worm) you get 1 extra HP on the next level.

20/20 vision is the class good vision for eyes. Hindsight is 20/20 is basically saying of course when you look back at something with all the information, you'll see it clearly.

Im starting to picture northernlions and fox's spelunky episodes as a play, fox is serene and graceful while northinlions is.....well....northernlions...
Some people get mad at NL for rushing, but I love his playstyle. It very much resembles my own playstyle. Reminds me of the days of NES Mario where I would try to run through the entire level without dying.

Yes, originally it came out as a flash game on PC. Then they made a version for Xbox, then a year or two later they made it for the PC. They probably only did that because it was so successful.

he has actually been closer to hell, i believe the one time where he was a second from going through when a random frog fell through the hole olmec made and killed him xP was a sad moment indeed.
ACTUALLY... in archaeology people use pot-shards to collect aggregate data about ancient civilizations... so, those shards still have value, even after you smashed the pot.
I am SO glad you finally start using every altar decently available to you. soon you will learn that the 2nd sacrificed damsel always drops the kapala and then your power will become limitless.

I don't think so. You only need 2 sacrifice 2 Damsels to get the Kappala, which can generate way more than 1 heart per floor.

Gaahh great job NL. Frustrating but not surprising that it ended on such a silly note. Got to admire your optimism though. Hopefully this means more (and more fulfilling) episodes of Spelunky? :D

Indeed.. Also weird considering it would probably work quite well on PC and with the current indie game boom it'd probably sell well too.
to be fair he made it a lot harder on himself by being partly inefficient.
1) he skipped the monty while reviving and another easy monty afterwards.
2) he skipped the gambling booth that had a BOMB BOX and straightly suicided when the ghost was at least a full minute away
3) despite having them on screen he skipped ALL of the crates above olmec.
and lastly, unfortunately he did not know olmecs golden butt is 5 "tiles" wide.
however, this was SOLID play and now he will be able to do it again.
00:02 on the clock? Well, another 40 minutes won't hurt.
Hey NL, definitely watch your Olmec fight tomorrow morning. I think you got some really good footage on his patterns that you can use against him next time.

please take the damsel to the exit when you have to sacrifice yourself in the ice caves. it will give you 1 health after you have used the ankh.
The last second - I saw him stop and croutch. My video lags and then I was "Oh no.. Nooo.. Don't stop there!" and then it loaded and.. dead. D:
