Love this video. Thank you Ma'am for this very informative video. Hopefully i can keep my hostas alive this season.😊
Thank you very much for your nice comment, George. Good luck with your hostas my friend, Mary 🍃🌿🍃
I saw this same information years ago in the exact steps you described by the older gentleman from Funky Gardens. Have been using these tips for about 7 years.
I think he passed away as he was battling cancer and there hasn’t been anymore videos since.
I don’t do videos so thanks for educating people who want to see their Hostas thrive!
Same for me, I saw this video years ago and wanted to share his amazing knowledge. ❤️ I know in some of his later videos he did not look well. Sorry to hear that he passed away, I loved seeing his talks at Funky Gardens on UA-cam. He certainly was a hosta expert. Thank you for the sweet note, Tina, Mary 🌸🍃🌷
Thank you very much. I'm planting hostas now for the first time. Thank you so much 🙂 for the information
And thank you, Jamie, for stopping by. ❤️ I am so happy to hear that my videos are helpful. We gardeners are a friendly bunch, I think, and like to share knowledge. 😀 Happy gardening my friend, Nary 👒🌱🧤

Thank you, Mehri, I am happy they were helpful tips. ❤️ Happy Saturday, Mary 🌷🌿🦋
I saw another gentleman doing the same with his hosta collection. He swears by it.💚🙃 I started following his/your directions this year. They have the milorganite, already and I’m going to use a sprayer for the tomato fertilizer💚🙃 I like milorganite because I feel it helps keep annoying rabbits away from my hosta. I does have an odor to it but not one that I can’t live with💚🙃
Good morning, Judy, and thank you so much for your sweet note. 💞 Yes, you are right, I think the secret is getting out finally about Milorganite and Miracle Gro Tomato food. I first learned about this from a nan named James Lawton from a nursery called Funkie Gardens. I mentioned him in my first hosta video. If you would like to watch his lecture from 2013, I will add a link to this video too. It is long but very interesting. Happy hosta gardening, Mary 🦋🌷🌿
Good tips Ms Mary!
Thanks for your insight.

Thank you so much, Erasmo, I always appreciate your kind words. 😀 Are you able to grow hostas where you live? Of course, I am sure you have many beautiful plants there in Brasil that I would love too. Have a lovely and blessed Sunday. Your friend, Mary 🦋🌳🍄
Hi Mary .....Thanks for your very informative hosta video today .Never was aware of your tip for using the Miracle Gro for tomatoes. However I’m familiar with the bag of poop, that comes in the pretty bag. 🧤🌱🪴🌿🍄👒. It’s manufactured not to far from me. Good stuff hey ? I do have hosta’s also in my yard actually many of them that I enjoy. Hope you have plans for MOTHERS DAY, Have a beautiful day my sweet friend. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹. Talk soon.. 🙋♀️🇺🇸
Hi, Barbara, I think it is great that you live so close to Milwaukee. 💞 You probably know that Milorganite also repels rabbits and deer. I mentioned that in my first hosta video. Good luck with your hostas this season and may you have no hail! 👩🏻🌾 Have a wonderful Mother’s Day too with your family and a big hug from me, Mary 🦋🌿🌷
Many thanks for the helpful tips. We have Hostas too in our garden. 💚👍
You are so very welcome. 💞 I am happy that you found this helpful. I am so glad to meet fellow hosta lovers. 😀 Have a lovely weekend, Mary 🌷🌿🦋
When we use the miracle grow fertilizer ( tomato) how often do we use this fertilizer. I used the milorganite like you said, now it’s time to switch to the miracle grow. Thank you so much for your advice, my hostas are looking better already.
Hello, Lucille, and thank you for your questions. ❤️ Once your hostas are fully leafed out you can switch to Miracle Gro tomato food. I fertilize every 2 weeks and then stop fertilizing any more in August as it is getting closer to Fall. This is the time of summer when your hostas slow down growing and get ready for winter dormancy. Hope that helps. Happy gardening, Mary 👒🌸🌿
Thanks for the great information. Thanks for Sharing your videos whit us UA-cam sister ❤🖒 xoxox stay safe and bless and strong and positive much love from me xoxox
Thank you so much, Deborah. ❤️ Have a blessed weekend and happy gardening, Mary 🦋🌿🌷
Where do you get Milorganite ?
Hi, Jack, I find it at my local Walmart in the Spring. And I have also seen it on Amazon. Thanks for a great question. Happy Autumn, Mary 🍁🎃🍂
Hi. Over here in Ireland our slugs and snails love eating our Hostas. Is it the same in the U.S ?
Hello, and let me just say that I was able to travel in Ireland a couple years ago and I loved it!!!! 💞 Anyway, in the humid parts of the US they do have slug problems. We are so dry in Colorado that we don’t really see many slugs or snails. One of the tricks I have always heard though is to leave shallow dishes filled with beer by the hostas. They crawl in and drown. Thanks for stopping by my channel and happy weekend to you, Mary 🦋🍃🐝
@@RockyMountainGardens Hi Mary. I saw your videos from Ireland and i thought they were wonderful. I'm glad you got to visit different parts of Ireland. A lot of tourists just seem to stick around Dublin, but it's best to get out of Dublin and see the Irish countryside. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself here.
David.
Hi again, David, glad you thought my videos were okay. I sure appreciate that coming from you. 😀 I am not really a city girl so getting out to see the country was important to me. We also got to Killarney National Park, the Dingle Peninsula and Cliffs of Moher. It was all so stunning and took my breath away. Just driving around the countryside was delightful! Thank you so much, Mary 🐝🌿🦋
