I live in 10b coastal Mediterranean climate California, totally not where Rosy is at. But with a passion for gardening I learn from her the fundamentals of choosing, planting and caring especially pruning for my pollinator garden. Unlike most home gardening channels on YT she’s professionally grown plants and knows the concepts about height, texture, sizes and color coordination when choosing the plants to pull the garden together. I’ve learned to look for the suitable plants when shopping to fill my yard at my local nurseries. 🌳 🌺 thank you Rosy. 😊
I agree. I live in North Carolina and I am currently getting pummeled with a total of about 6 inches of rain, thank you Hurricane Debby. I will be doing some post hurricane tidy up pruning as soon as Debby makes her exit. I also learn a lot from Rosy about how to do the best job at plant rejuvenation.
Thank you, another useful video. I started cutting back my Salvia but only doing the tops. I am going to go out now and cut them right down. Always feel reluctant to cut back so much but certainly looks a lot better when it is all off and it starts to grow again.
Thank you Rosie, I need to be braver with my Salvias Caradonna & Nemerosa that's for sure. I was leaving as much on as possible for the bees and felt guilty giving a big chop but I will do as you did now. Thanks again Tina ( Dublin, Ireland ☘️)
Super, super helpful video. I do struggle to know which perennials will rebloom and which will not. I cut my red Astilbe down to the base as the leaves were yellow and I thought it may be deficient in something - or too little or too much water. No idea if it will rebloom or not though. I am going to go out and cut my salvias and Achilleas down to the ground - as I have only cut them down by half! Lots of people doing gardening videos on here - but I find your videos are the most interesting, helpful and detailed than all the others and you come across as so down to earth too. Thank You Rosy ❤
I'm guessing this applies to veronicas, as well. I have a beauty called 'Pink Domino/Damask' which has finished flowering, but I left it because the bees loved the few flowers at the top of the spikes. If I cut it down as you suggest, the bees might get a second flowering, and it will certainly make the plant look tidier.
Hello Rosy. Thanks so much for your expert information and detailed explanations. I just subscribed to your channel after my first time watching you. Will you please tell me where I can purchase the hand snippets that you use? Thanks. Also, can you please give me your opinion about planting kale seeds and/or lavender seeds NOW? I live in Zone 6 of the USA, and the first frost date is approximately October 28, 2024. Since kale is a leafy green that withstands cooler temperatures and lavender is a perennial. Thank you Rosy.
Will you have a show about repotting some salvage plants from Lowe’s. Are and over wintering plants that are in good shape. But it’s not a good time to plant outside in beds?
Hi rosey,I have a salvia hot lips,I will be putting it in my south facing garden which I know the love,I have had them before, what I want to know is when they get to big how far down the plant can I cut it and when.thank you.
Does this apply to the annual black/blue salvia? I do go around n cut back the dead blooms but I don’t cut to the ground. They are all pretty tall n leggy however they have booms n the hummingbirds frequent them 👌 thank you
Hi Rosy, I have Achillea and I was hoping to let it go to seed so I can collect it for next season. It is still flowering but starting to turn so would pruning it like you have recommended stop me from gathering the seeds?

Straight to the point! I'm learning quite aa bit from these videos!
Thanks Rosy - Going into the garden now to give my Alchemilla a good ol' hair cut!
Thank you Rosie, I need to be braver with my Salvias Caradonna & Nemerosa that's for sure. I was leaving as much on as possible for the bees and felt guilty giving a big chop but I will do as you did now. Thanks again

Hi Rosy, very helpful and timely, thank you! 🇨🇦
This was fabulous! I can’t say that enough- I get so scared to cut back but this gives me confidence!
Perfect timing….appreciate the comparisons between the plants!!
You are so full of wisdom and experience. Its the best gift to watch your videos!! Thank you so much ❤

Great video, thank you. I had noticed my geraniums were looking very scruffy and overgrown so will be getting a hair cut.
Thank you. Very interesting. Recently found you on UA-cam. Easy to follow 👍
I recently mowed over some tired looking geraniums just hoping they'd return next year. To my delight, they are already coming back fresh and pretty!
Thanks Rosie for answering my question about which plants to give “hair cuts”
Great video 😊 I'm looking forward to giving my Salvia's etc a good haircut instead of dead heading. 🌱🌱
Thanks for giving me confidence to cut right down low rather than just the flower heads.
Love the knowledge you share, so helpful. Thank you
Hi Rosy another great info video thanks 👍
You are a beautiful gift! Thank you.

I just figured out what a perennial and an annual 😅

You can prune at the same time as you deadhead. This will keep them tidier. There is a video in the back library showing how and when to prune them
Can you do this haircutting to Snapdraggons ?
Yes you can but don’t go so low
Please could I ask what brand of snips Rosy uses? Thank you
They are ARS HP-300LDX Stainless Steel Needle Nose Fruit Pruners
@RosyHardyGardening many thx for this
Do most salvias like the same cutting back? For example Hot Lips?
No they are just given a constant deadhead prune. There is a video in the library about this

Can you cut back Astrantia hard too? Thanks
Yes you can but do water after
