    • @cryolite08
      @cryolite08 Місяць тому +2

      No. If you want extreme quiet and performance, you get an AIO. The liquid freezer III is amazing and it’s $40 cheaper than this air cooler. If you want the cooler to last a long time, you get an air cooler like the phantom spirit for $30.
      This new Noctua cooler is in an awkward spot. It’s priced more than liquid coolers with worse performance.
      It’s better in reliability, but if you’re so worried about that then just get the Thermalright phantom spirit for a fifth of the price of the Noctua. If the fans stop working on the Thermalright, a replacement is like $5.
      The only thing Noctua has going for them is their brand image. They built up a good reputation and now they’re using it to sell bad value products. The cooler itself isn’t bad, but the price 100% is.

      @@cryolite08 you are looking at it wrong, the liquid coolers that can match the D-15 are 3x120 and 3x140 mm models that both have to drive those fans at much higher RPMs than this Noctua with extra noise coming from the pump with a "lifespan" of +- 2-3 years before you run into "it might fail at any moment" territory where D-15 can run 15 years non stop and not care ...
      as for Phantom Spirit ... fan on that cooler has airflow of 114 m3/h at maximum RPM where NF-A14 fan on the Noctua has 140 m3/h ...
      guess what that means ... yes you can drive the Noctua fans that are already quieter ( -1 db at maximum RPM = 16% quieter in absolute value) at much lower RPM lowering the noise even more - like using "low noise adapter mode" on Noctua where it drops at hardware level to 1200 RPM at which point it has the SAME airflow as the fans on Thermalright BUT at -6.4 db delta (thats LITERALLY half the absolute noise between the two) while maintaining the same level of cooling ... THAT is what you pay for with Noctua ...

      @@casuallyweird4838 why would i need to check subjective reviews when i can literally see spec sheets for fans ... the fan on D-15 has the same airflow as one on the thermalright going full throttle at 1200 RPM (the limited max RPM with low noise adapter) and at that RPM it has -6.2 db noise offset ...thats literally HALF absolute noise level at slightly higher airflow ...
      guess what that means when you drive that already near silent fan at 800-900 RPM it goes when not being pushed by some furnace of a CPU
      AND if you get the furnace you can just use non adapted RPM where Noctuas fans are STILL 1 db quieter and pushing 25% higher airflow ...
      there is a reason why 5 out of 8 140mm fans in my build are Noctuas (the other 3 are BeQuiet Silentwings fans that came with the case ) and while all of them are running they are whisper quiet because they push enough air at HALF of rated RPM to push more than enough air even through my radiators ...
      Thats the Noctua magic - yes the fans are expensive but they allow much quieter operation of any cooling solution they are attached to - if you dont care about noise - cool go with cheaper solution but as someone who values low noise solutions ( literally as my cooling setup is +-$1100 open loop inside $300-ish noise reduction case ...) paying premium price for near silent aircooler would be very much worth it if i went for aircooling ever again.

    The best CPU coolers are anything thermalright. Even their $16 Assassin King 120 SE destroys many other CPU coolers. Most of their line up murders the price/performance competition.

  • @ZenotoXOfficial

    Whatever Noctua wants to say and whatever the data and graphs prove, there’s just no beating the Thermalright lineup. There’s no reason or excuse that could make me skip out on a $35 cooler that does the same thing. 1 degree hotter doesn’t matter when I got $120 in my budget to go to other things.

    Is it really insane though if you consider that if you bought this cooler 20 years ago that you as a customer with absolutely no following could email them and they'd happily send you a mounting bracket for your cpu no matter how long ago you purchased it, or if you even were the one to purchase it? It's effectively a cooler for life. I bought an old one from the mid 2000s and emailed them, told them I bought it off ebay and they still happily sent me a mounting bracket for my AM4 system. The price is EASILY worth it
