Samuel, I am a retired physician. I do not have experience w KET as a NMDAR acute blockade for reversal of depolarized neuronal area in acute ischemia. However, I have done high dose DM Challenge in those cases reversing some of the functional deficit in 20-30 min. I have a video-case in one similar case. Do you have any info on this matter & do you have a way to duplicate that in animal models. Best wishes.
@@lfp3176 Thanks for the comment. I know there are many studies looking at ketamine in treating e.g. spreading depolarization but unfortunately cortical injuries are not my expertise. I'm sure there are experimental models available.
Psychedelics changed my life and I owe them more than my life. I pass over a life crisis where couldn't get over the idea of quitting everything and get back to study neuropharmacology. Didn't end up doing it but I see you are starting and wanted to let you know how important I think it is what are you doing.
Thanks for sharing! I started to pursue the study of psychopharmaceuticals when I was approximately 16 years old. It can be a long and tough journey, but I'm hoping to be able to continue paying my bills by doing scientific research.
I've had full body chronic pain since 2004. I later found I had Ehlers-Danlos syndrome which explained both why my tendons were snapping, my skin hurt and why I had bone on bone arthritis in my knees by age 30 (early onset arthritis). I moved to Texas where the climate is better and found a doctor who reduced my pain substantially with Ketamine. I also had PTSD from repeated traumas. This drug has helped me and my psychiatrist find out when, and how the pain will return not from a new injury but psychological factors. Thank God for this drug. Too bad some States don't use it.
There is a novel use in brazil for people in palliative treatment, and the benefits are incredible, both in the mental health as in the control of pain
Nice video! I took ketamine sometimes, and the substance is absolutely secure and non addictive, except when used as recreational drug, but the addiction is onky psychological, there is no physical withdrawal like another anesthetics such morphine and oxycodone, that people get hooked on. Ketamine is not viable to daily use as painkiller for their effects on moviments and hallucinationsz but i describe these hallucinations like controlled.
Ketamine is more elegant than LSD, from pain to depression its applications should be more than enough proof... however its ability to aid and facilitate in journeys of ego death..its simply beautiful..takes some time to train and practice with... once one has practiced... the illusion of time and space dissolves ... a never ending lucid dream
I did some last week..first rimein over 23 years..k hole .much needed..not for rookies..and it took me by suprise .my girl said I asked her why I was dying ..luckily it only started that way and I was along for the ride..def trippy
As someone with treatment resistant depression who has tried every class of antidepressant (and multiple types within each class) with no relief, I have been watching recent ketamine studies very closely. Since ketamine seems to be tailor made for people like me and might be my only hope, there is absolutely no way I will ever be able to get it prescribed. Oddly enough, I can't afford $550 per session (6 session minimum) to go to an infusion clinic. So, thanks for the false hope, Mental Health Researchers!
That is unfortunate and I believe these treatments should be available for free. The major findings related to ketamine's antidepressant effects mostly come from non-commercial research, and thus efforts of pharmaceutical companies to make money on expensive formulations is nasty. The price of ketamine in the treatment is just a dollar or two, but of course there are other costs involved. In the Finnish healthcare system treatment is essentially free, but still limited by available resources.
IV ketamine is the way to go. I did 9 treatments. Totally found the strength and clarity to face my trauma from failed medicine. I have had no depression symptoms since October 2023. After the sessions, I could FEEL new “rooms” of my mind open up that I never felt before. Yes, it’s expensive. But it beats taking years of failed medicines that have tons of side effects and stresses of working against what your mind really needs. Get that glutamate, eat your blueberries and don’t stop learning or being creative. 😊
Ket gave me no relief from depression when I tried the infusion, it gave me major panic attacks and I had to convince my doctor that it would be inappropriate to continue after the first session. I have panic attacks sometimes 3-4 times a day and constant anxiety, for years I could only find relief with heroin, I’ve been clean 8 years and no Dr will let me try the benzodiazepine class of chems because “I’m flagged” as an addict. Um, no, I WAS. Then got clean thru a suboxone Dr. But I’m forever red flagged all because I asked for help… this was 15-22 years old so I didn’t even know what anxiety was or that I was even having a panic attack I just thought I was dying, each day i spend hours crying and scared to leave my house, I can’t hold a job or drive a car, I fucking hate most doctors because their is no empathy when you’re an ex addict
Based on the clinical studies, acute benefits typically last 1-2 weeks. Of course there is a lot of individual variability. Also, the case might be different for repeated infusions, but there aren't yet many studies looking at long term outcomes.
I receive IV ketamine to ease chronic pain from peripheral neuropathy with in-patient treatments four months apart. There's a feeling of being "amplified" which begins a few hours after the treatment ends, and persists for some days. The pain relief lessens gradually in the four months between my hospital visits.
Been watching videos for an hour now trying to get two things to align to no avail. Clearly Perry but previous my only real knowledge was in the movie Armageddon it shows on a drug test and the doctor says it's a horse tranquillizer.
Feel free to suggest any ideas for future videos!

How is it administered to you?
your videos are so well done, you deserve more views

Thanks for that. Cheers from across the pond. Have a fine weekend if that finds you still there...

Very helpful. Thank you :-)
But what plant, fungi, mushroom, etc, did this derive from? Thank you
Fruit of the ketamine tree.

Agreed, ket is the best... hard to find though :(

Check and see if any Psycharitry clinics use esketamine, it’s covered by most insurance with a PA.
Go find yourself a good drug dealer. I get ket for 80 bucks a gram. It lasts me about a month or so.

The benefits last longer than just a couple of weeks though. I’ve only had to get infusions every 3-4 months.

Studying for my pharmacology exam and wanted some fun history facts about ketamine 😅
Hope you did well!
Let me guess, the DOD was the first to study the "psychiatric" effects of ketamine.
Not to my knowledge.
My clusters are making me Crazy. I think i need a reset

Taking ketamine in a bathtub is known to be a poor combination.
