Steve, you’re the Liam Neeson of Sheetmetals. You have a very particular set of skills that you have acquired over a long career. Well done and happy new year to you all.
haha thank you , happy new year to you as well :)
Yay! DADS BACK WITH THE 911! All's well with the world!
Excellent video! I'm jealous of that new welding table! It's awesome!
Thanks! it is nice :)
One word, Amazing..................
Ya!!....More YCR progress on the 911 my days made now!....Keep up the good work!💪💪👍👍
Mesmerising
thank you :)
I would have cracked on and welded the cill on. Steve show what a wealth of experience and a high level of skill produces. Love the explaination of why the cill isn't just welded on......
Great video your fabrication skills are fantastic 👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
It's looking like God and Ferry Porsche intended! Love your fabrication skills -there might not be a car alive that you couldn't improve.♥️
thank you :)
even Liam neeson would be in awe of your particular set of skills. Totally mesmerising. 👏👏👏👏
thank you we do appreciate it :)
fantastic job as always Steve.
Brilliant this - absolutely brilliant 🙌
Great work on the Porsche Steve. As a body guy in the early 70s we would have loved your mig instead of the oxy/acet . It’s fantastic what you can achieve.onwards and upwards 😊
Not only wonderful tin smithing but high quality off the cuff structural engineering based on hard experience and planning in 4 dimensions to make sure the whole structure lines up. Absolutely wonderful thoughtful engineering management in this case. Left something to buy yourself an ice cream!
Haha thank you 😁
Your vids get better and better, no nonsense pure content.love em.
your unreal mate !!!!! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thank you 🙌
Yeah, another great video. Steve reminds me of when I was an apprentice watching my mentor efficiently get about, get the job tinkered, bashed, and job done, i was so sore for weeks following that man about 😂 he did it all with perfection. Steve doesn't chain smoke Rothmans, and do it all with one eye shut because of the rising smoke. But still. Reminds me of that man. Equally skilled. Pure masterclass @steve. Demi God skill levels.
Wow, what an intelligent man do anything with metal I wish I could I spend a few days with you learning some tips and tricks
You make it look elegantly easy to do that, I struggle opening a tin can.
True craftsmanship here.
thank you :)
Amazing metal work as always. The thing that is incredible is how you remember all measurements. I have forgotten them by the time I get up off my knees.
Love to see this channel grow no bs, no narcissistic plonker shouting just doing it. Really does help when somebody isn't talking shite all through a video. Keep up the great work.
Brilliant
thanks :)
A joy to watch you form those 3 D shapes using the new table and those bed clamps...🤔😳😳😏😀🇬🇧
Excellent work! Subscribed. So happy to watch craftsmanship ike this on display.
you are real artists, so much patience and perfection! really nice to see and relaxing! I enjoy watching every episode, greetings from Oud-Turnhout (Belgium) greetings
That metal really is putty in your hands ,intricate work executed with aplomb, great stuff again .
Happy new year to all from Oz
thank you and Happy New year to you as well :)
Looking forward to the next vid! ❤️
Hi Steve, very interesting 3D puzzle.
Outstanding Steve. I just want to win the lottery and get restoring cars!
Excellent skills and content is getting better and better. I do prefer a bit of explanation as to the methods you are using. Keep up the great work.
When I did my 911 rebuild, the only original panel was the scuttle, I used that to align the bonnet, then the front wing to the bonnet, then the door to the front wing, then the sill.
Nice to see you are making good use of the new table
That was some tricky fab work there but you made it look easy. Your videos get better and better!
Wow sooo much skill! Awesome
Looks really good.
brilliant- thank you
Great Work, I'm guessing its a 90's UK Coastal Car
That table seems to be the dogs dangly bits.😂👍
it is and the hobby ones are superb size for a garage or shed , see link in the description :)
It’s cool this is being done to a targa, as most of the fanatics overlook them.
It will be a really special road car when done.
You're hard work is really bringing it together
WOW, I really love watching your videos on restoring these cars. You can learn a lot by watching. I use some of these skills in rebuilding Model cars. I used to work in auto collision and can't do that type of work anymore. Thanks. Dan
You have given me a real incentive to repair my mx5 to a good standard and may you continue with your very entertaining work
the skill of sheet metal working is not dead, lang may yer lum reek, HNY
How good is that fabrication bench. Well done macindustries. 👌
Nice job mate.
Thank you! Cheers!
These videos are a gift Steve, thank you. Loving your explanations. You have a great problem solving mindset, keep up the great work.
Fantastic skills 😊
Thanks I love watching you work❤
Unbelievable skill mate , happy new year to you

Great work Steve! Looking forward to the Cosmo build in 2024? 😉
Totally admire the skills you guys have , fecking brilliant
It just fits. Or you make it fit with incredible craftsmanship. Thank you for making these beautiful videos.
Thank you. It's our pleasure :)
You're a master craftsman Steve, loving this build, all the best from Cumbria
Thank you so much :)
I’ve painted the panels inside where I don’t weld with epoxy and over that a layer of 2k paint so that it don’t rust where i weld the panels i use a weld thru primer
that welding table you were given is getting a good bit of use. It must be a life changer!
Nice work keep up the good work
As always, great pleasure to watch your amazing skills. Also to listen your explanations why you are doing the steps in what order. I have only one word: Sheet-metal-artist!
Happy new year and a successful 2024 for you, your family and the whole company. Best regards from Germany
You doing amazing works!
Very nice you accomplished quite a bit on the car .just keep doing what your doing 👍👍👍😎😎😎
I like the way you form the steel plate to fit the contours of the body.
I would like to know what are the small jigs you use to align the body panels that you was putting back. Regards Pete.
They are generically known in the trade as "inter-grips" and are readily available from many sources. I think I got mine from Frost Restoration.
It is starting to look so good now
yer starting to look like a real car again :)
Wow,I think it’s safe to say that you guys really know what you’re doing. Incredible skills shown again in a brilliant video
Really wish you all a great new year and can’t wait for the next superb lesson on how you restore these classics 👍
thank you and the same to you :)
The fab fabricators, metal arteests.
geez you have put some work into this steve
Been watching your vids for a couple of years now, from when you were keeping rusty old MX5's on the road! Excellent to see your business growing and getting the huge premises that you're now in. I'm currently getting stuck into a new project of another mini, lots of panel replacement and welding etc! I'm trying to get into doing TIG welding on all the exterior panel welds for being able to file and hammer out shrinking, the TIG torch is also proving very handy for hot shrinking too! As you do a lot of welds on exterior panels is TIG welding something you've thought about doing?
Steve are you spotwelding straight onto the weld thru primer or are you cleaning it at the point of weld?
i'm planing to flare arches on my e46 coupe, i hate idea of widebody kits and fender flares that rivet, i want to make them metal and very oem looking with nice inner arch, any tips or heads up / any videos on simmilar topic coming soon?
This porsche is going to have flared arches butt welded in :)
Weird it says carrera on the side of a targa top porsche. Great video btw
07:30 Was that support bracket there originally? Realy wondering in the first place what this piece of mtall was going to be. 🙂
The metal militia..
#1
Ayup Steve hope you have had a great Xmas with your families let’s see another master class in saving another tired car 👍🏻😉
thank you Hope you also had a great Xmas :)
Masterful work there Steve - the Kevin Keegan of car repair and restoration!
brilliant stuff as per usual
thank you :)
👍👍👍👍👍👍
What are those little panel clamps you used to hold the 3 pieces together called? Or better yet where can I buy some?
they are called butt welding clamps on ebay :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration awesome thanks!!
Brilliant channel, hope you all had a brilliant Christmas 🎄🇬🇧
Thank you! You too!
brilliant work in this video steve it will be amazing when its finished
Thank you it's nice to see it going back together :)
At 11:08, would there be a benefit of using Cleco fasteners, or perhaps sheet metal screws, to temporarily hold the bottom of the outer sill, instead of tack welds? Doesn't welding a tack and then having to cut it later, seem to be more work, than using a self tapping sheet metal screw and welding the hole closed once? You are great with a cutting disk, so it is probably just as easy for you.
The car of theseus.....(re)completed soon....after replacement of the rooftop....will it be still a Porsche 911?
What's happening with the Furzemobile?
It's Xmas hols be patiant :)
🤘😎🤘
Lovely work but Ì fear you have left out a reinforcement panel which goes on the inner wing directly under the targa bar. At 12.37 in the video when you cut the quarter you have a square plate in your hand. Someone has previously welded that in instead of the reinforcement which is supposed to be there. They rot out very easily and I suspect it has been repaired before with that bit of plate you had in your hand.
That rear 1/4 panel has to come back out yet. You will have noticed I didn't drill any holes for the plug welds on the inner door shut. It's only tacked in place for door and sill alignment.
It’s a pleasure watching a master at work Steve!
Are the square blocks with the wing-nuts attached magnets Steve?
It’s the first time I’ve seen them being used!
Thank you, no they are used to keep butt welds flat and the correct gapping for welding. I'll do a small demo on the video for the other side :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Thanks Steve that would be a nice gesture.
I think I worked out how they work the blocks are held down either side of the but and the wing nut pulls up two L shaped clamps that hold the but together for you to spot weld?
Hope you and your family have a good New Year all the best again!
I’m looking forward to watching in 24!
MIG not TIG amazing, I’d blow holes in everything!
Are you still going to weld new 1/4 panels and a fixed roof on?????
Have a great New Year and I hope you’re all back to work refreshed and raring to go in 2024?
Thank you we are having a few days off :)
Very good work män. Very good
El dueño de ese auto lo tenía guardado en la playa, con medio auto sumergido en el mar? So much rusty!!!
Quality work Steve just a quick question on the sill you drilled the holes why didn’t you use the hole punch 👍
There was a 90eg bend that prevented me from using the hole punch :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration thanks buddy
