- Hello everyone!! It is time for some cleanup sluice builds. This cleanup sluice was the one seen on Dan Hurds video back in 2022 when he visited my mine site. The unit is really a glorified classifier to screen out the larger rocks to catch the fine gold, remember classification is the key to fine gold recovery. these units are not for prospecting but for larger mine sites to catch massive amounts of gold from the sluice boxes. I hope you enjoy the video and maybe get some ideas from it to build your own!!! I put a link to the vibration motor down below so you have easy access to the part.

Seeing you make your lower catch basin was so cool... that completely random looking piece of 2 dimensional metal just transformed into a perfect shape.... geometry is imortant kids... stay in school 😊

Well, if that's all the fine gold that came out of the very last one. You know the miner's moss is doing its job. And it's always nice to find a few extra pickers in your nugget sluice 🎉🎉
I forgot to put something in the video about how much gold was caught by VDR matting to show a ratio on capture rate. Hard to believe but it ended up being under 0.1%
@The Mining Channel Honestly, if you're watching the video, you can tell your pickers from the fine stuff you don't need to put in how much was in there. Just by the image, you can tell that there wasn't even a tenth of a gram

Pretty neat! I had a couple of friends that sluiced tailings up in Chicken, Alaska area. One in a big way. Never got the gold bug but have always found it interesting. Miner has to be a bit of everything. Miner, geologist, mechanic, inventor, welder, meteorologist, hydrologist, cook and bottle washer to name a few.
Absaloutly!!! Jack of all trades.... master of none hahahah. I would struggle up in Alaska, Im a little spoiled mining close to home and all the things I need!

Hey Marlene! Thanks for stopping by. At this point I don't have anything set up for selling gold. But in saying that all that gold from the last cleanup I sold to Dan and there was a lot of pickers in that. I think Dan may sell them separately. One day I may set something up to sell though.

Hahahha yeah I just ripped it off a chunk of sandpaper. All my copper weigh trays are stashed away in my trailer somewhere.

Cool setup! Well presented and explained. Kinda crazy how abs piping costs so much eh? I recently did a cleanup sluice mat comparison and that VDR matting was one of my favorites. Seemed like a good balance between easy of use, amount of concentrates, and recovery rate. Keep up the good work on the videos!
Hey bud, I watched your video and forgot to mention it on mine to direct people to see the science of it but ran out of time. The amount of fine gold in the expanded I panned out ended up being less them 0.1% loss the DVR blew over. But..... My gold is fairly large and only 20% is like your stuff you mine in Alberta.
@The Mining Channel Nice! Yeah I thought the VDR was a great balance of recovery and reduction of concentrates. PLUS, it's easy to clean out and work with. Great stuff!
