same.issue with front wheel centrelock cap. before I find the "correct end cap" as recommended thankfully by you, it's tightening by finger torque for now
Thanks for the video, I thought I needed to buy a thinner lock ring tool. Hopefully I had a spare SM-RT10 lockring, but I'm gonna buy a SM-HB20 which seems half weight lighter
Hi there. Having this exact issue with the lockring. Had to get a a new end cap for the hub as the tool got stuck and ripped it off.is this just a problem with older end caps or will the new one also be an issue? If so, could you please tell me the model number of the dt Swiss lockring and the dimensions of the washer so I can do something similar? Thanks so much. Can’t believe there are no other videos on this. Been driving me mad for days. All I wanted to do was change the rotors out, lol.
The root cause is the axle diameter, it won't go away with a new end cap. I ended up going with the super slim Shimano lock ring Y8PW98020 that comes with their Y8PW98020 rotor.
hai Andrew, is these wheels could fit to wider tire like 700x38-42c ? Because I’m planning to buy this wheelset, but have a gravel tire with size of 700x35 and 700x42c. thx
2:01 genuinely curious, was there no shim included with this 6 bolt adapter? As at 2022 the adapter they include with their wheels consists of 4 items, one of which is a shim - similar to what your LBS did for you as a fix. Meaning you don't need to look for alternatives, everything is in the box. Might be worth to pin this comment for everyone's benefit.
Hi, do you know if the problem with fitting the rear wheel rotor also affects 12x142 axles ? I would like to purchase these wheels but only if they fit properly. I'm not much of a mechanic to go to great lengths if they don't support the Shimano rotors with the included tools. Thanks
No one makes a 15x 142 road bike, so there was no issue fitting the stock centerlock ring on the rear wheel. Shimano rotors work fine, you just need to figure out how to attach the front one if it doesn't come with one of the lock rings I mentioned.
Dicut uses a different style of hub and spoke than spline. The most important difference IMO is that the spline is a straight pull spoke that is easier to maintain because you can use any straight pull spoke. It's my understanding that dicut spokes have to be from DT-Swiss. All that said, I don't think there's much practical difference b/w them.
@@stnkygrngo They are bulletproof, you'll enjoy them. Should probably caveat the 350 thing. I have two sets of 350 hubs, both of them take a standard road lockring. It's possible that DT Swiss has a 350 that doesn't work that way though, stranger things have happened. I definitely did not expect the 240 to be the way it is.
@@Mamilian ah thats on me I remembered reading a guy with issues. But went back and his was about the lock ring bottoming out with his installed discs. But man i hope they sorted it out on there new 240 as im sure its caught alot of people out with road discs. And probably the only reason it's stayed less of an issue is alot of people just leave all disc break stuff to there LBS. I almost feel that knowing this issue dt swiss should have included a outward splined lock ring with there 240s hubs.

Hi Andrew, thank you for the video. So is the problem with the end cap only with 15mm axles or 12mm thru axles as well?
12mm too.
@@Mamilian And the 5mm QR end caps? Did you try? Thanks!

Yep. They would fit. This is a good guide: www.wtb.com/pages/tire-rim-fit-chart

That's great. Exactly what they should have do given the design. Unfortunately, no shim was provided with my wheelset.
Just got these wheels and am running into the same issue with the front wheel lock ring, but unfortunately a shim was not included
You didn't remove the "Read the manual" sticker before weighing the wheels😄
Damnit! Don't tell anyone ;)
Hi thanks for the video! So, to be clear- would 6-bolt be ok? I want to use my SRAM Rival 1x gravel groupset and rotors on these wheels. Charles
Yep, just use the 6-bolt adapters that come with the wheels.
are there 6 bolt adapters included?@@Mamilian

Hi,
I haver a doubt, which is the difference between 1400 dicut ER and 1400 spline ER wheels?
Thanks

I am looking at this exact wheel set. I am pretty disappointed with the lock ring issue. Is that just for the 240 hub?
Yes. 350s don't have it. I haven't had a chance to mess with the new 240 EXP hubs, so they might have fixed it.
@@Mamilian Thank you for the input!! I am still leaning on these, but the 350 option, even with less engagement, seems like less of a headache.

If you could do it over, what wheelset would you buy instead of this?
I would have only bought these: ua-cam.com/video/xuKv5pQWQ9A/v-deo.html
I've seen people with this same issue on the 350s and 240s ect
Do you mean with the lock ring? I have two wheelsets with 350S hubs, and the road lockring fits just fine.

@@Demon09-_- I completely agree, they should have included the lock ring. Would have made a massive difference in the user experience.
