I have to disagree with the timing of the release for a couple of reasons: Firstly, the game (and the series) is timeless to me, so I'll always appreciate Arkham figure releases. Secondly, I was never able to snag any of the figures that DC Direct had on sale when the game was released. Todd's release has allowed me to add these figures to my collection now, at a good price, too!
These are also, in my opinion, even better than the DC Direct and DC Collectibles versions. When the Asylum figures were made over a decade ago, the company was notorious for using transparent brittle joints for figures. So it wasn’t unusual for a joint or two to break off as soon as the figures were taken out of the packaging. That issue continued into the release of Arkham Knight figures.
Picking McFarlane figures for paint apps is finding the one with perfect paint apps. Picking the ML figures is just trying to find one with acceptable paint apps and hoping to avoid the major screwed up ones.
I personally disagree about the wierd timing, the arkham games are timeless classics that are staples for who and what batman is, and it got a lot of people into the character. Great review though 👏👌
I have both of these displayed. Great pieces IMO. Joker is my favorite of the 2. My 1st Joker fig and maybe the only one I even need lol I recommend them to anybody who just loves collecting Batman and Joker whether you like the games or not.
Hail Pickens 24 Why do I find it amusing? It just seems like a very innocent thing to me. I'm not a gun nut, but I've played enough video games and seen enough movies to know what certain guns are called. Like Brad the DC Geek--every pistol is a glock to him for some reason.
I recently bough this Batman figure and for $20 it's pretty damn good. The head looks a little small, but that's indicative of the style. Joker's gun most closely resembles a Colt Python .44 as Desert Eagle does not make revolvers.
Can't wait on those Dark Nights Metal figs, and to have the White Knight figs in hand, Todd is nailing it, I saw what you said about the gold paint on Wonder Woman, I didn't know how much of a deal it was until you brought that up to him in the interview
That Joker may be my new favourite Joker figure, and I'd say that it was an itch that I needed scratching, back when Arkham Knight came out and DC Collectibles was releasing awesome looking figures for the game I was waiting for an Arkham game Joker, and all they gave us was a crappy flashback version, so I've been waiting on this figure for a long time and it did not disappoint.
@@mctapper6172 Mafex is releasing or will be releasing a Batman Hush Joker to go with the Mafex Batman Hush Batman figure. Only thing is Joker's suit is blue for some reason. But still might get him though cause dude, it's Jim Lee's Hush! Jim Lee is my idol who I've been fortunate enough to meet and get some stuff signed by.
My biggest issue with McFarlane's DC figures is that they're 7 inches. They basically tower over all my 6-inch figures. I wish the action figure world would settle on a single standard size.
I really like both of these action figures! I hope Mcfarlane toys makes more Batman Arkham figures! I would really like a Batman Arkham Knight Harley Quinn figure!
YES! I’ve been waiting for this review. I personally love this figures. Batman’s accessories could be more accurate but I love the figure itself. The paint on Joker’s face could be better but I still love it!
My biggest gripe about the Batman figure is how small his hands are. But I have found that, if you have an extra Arkham Knight Batman figure that you don't really care about, take those hands off and pop the hands of this Asylum Batman along with its ball hinges, put some sticky tac in the hole and then put the arkham knight hands in there it looks A LOT better. However, and this goes to the McFarlane company, look at that Arkham Knight Batman figure. Look at the arms. See how those arms are the same size as this figure? Why doesn't this one have double jointed elbows but the AK Batman does, and it's an older figure?
Good to hear that your family is doing well, My gripe in batman is I got bad paint apps on his eyes like rogue syndrome, good for you that your copy is better looking
Figures from McFarlane Toys need upper thigh cuts and double-jointed elbows then they would be absolutely in my interest. I'm actually thinking about getting both of these figures because I recently got done playing Batman Return to Arkham Asylum and I need some video game batman figures, i've been wanting some for a long time but nobody is producing good Arkham Batman figures...
I’m really confused at what mcfarline was thinking when they made the grapple gun and the explosive gel. I just played the game, and the grapple gun was much smaller and the explosive gel did not look anything like that
I know this video is old. But just wanted to comment on the detail, amount of accessories, articulation & price $$$ especially. I’ve been collecting starwars & marvel. But their 6 inch line is more, in some cases articulation is down & the packaging gets so fancy (the figures more). Just like a Star Wars wampa. Not only was it exclusive (sold out quickly), but it was $29 in a big shiny box. DC’s devastatorwas bigger& $19. (Not exclusive but sold out; in most spots’. This figure impressed me. Took me back to Doomsday killing Superman. Plus hasbros doing shady stuff lately, turning me off.
@@Apex_YT_117 looks like he was no nose. And no I don't think its just because its blending into the white face, I think its because there isn't enough space between the eyes and mouth
So far for me when it comes to this line. White Knight Batman I think is the best of the Batman's they've released so far. This guy doesn't really impress me. It's like a more detailed version of the first. This Joker I feel is my definitive. It just articulates like the model in the game. Diversity is also the problem of the line right now. It's the Batman line. For me personally I don't need 8 Batman figures. So the sooner they do anyone else the better. I want to see Flash, Green Lantern and such. I do hope they address articulation. Come on double jointed elbows should just be standard. Especially if there aren't any butterfly joints to bring the arms inward. The also need a address the waists. These long jackets(Joker, Arrow, BWL) are limited because the waist sits so low and there isn't a divide in the jacket(so bunching occurs or it pops off the hinge). I love the flexible material. I hope to experiment more with that. If they could bring it into the pants they could straight up hide the hinge. Paint app wise. Coming from Hasbro Lightning Collection. I've only once had to ignore a clearly defective product. I can pull these figures blindly. The Hasbro figs is "may the odds be in your favor". For the cost I feel we are getting a lot of detail. They just need to get their articulation and face sculpts on point. Now does Mcfarlane do all the sculpts because I figured all his other artists did that? Lastly, hands. Two gripping hands please. I strongly dislike being told which is the correct hand. It's not like you can swap with other figures. The hinges keep changing. Overall the line has gotten stronger then when it started.
I really love the suit of batman in arkham asylum. For me is just perfect. Great video. Well I have a problem whit batman and joker figure, and does are the faces.
Shartimus why didn’t you mention thigh cut swivel? You know these Mcfarlane toys desperately need it. Also the shin/ lower leg looked weird when you did full ankle pivot (bat). These are great figures however 👍🏼. I own both but that missing thigh cut swivel 😭😜
The joker is great. no complaints about him. The Batman drove me nuts with his eye balls. I know he has them in the game. But I couldn't stand them to the point where I gave it away to a friend's grand son. But the Batman 1000 goes just fine with the A.A. Joker, anyway.

And, no, I don't want to pay ten dollars more for five pairs of extra hands! Who in the hell needs any more than two? More chocolate for your dollar! Viva, Todd! Viva, McFarlane Toys!
The "grapple gun" in my personal opinion is to big to be the grapple actually from the game or the bat claw. My guess is it's a concept art version of the line launcher or grapple or claw. Cause Mcfarlane Toys made the first figures for that game right? And I bet it was a left over accessory from then. It also explains why we get a canister of explosive gel and not the spray the canister goes in.
I’m new to DC action figures. I know marvel actions like marvel legends and select are pretty much the top two( aside from hot toys) are the best. Who makes the best DC action figures? If anyone reads this could you please inform me. Thanks
