I love the way it further simplifies Batman's color layout/blocking to be just black-then-grey-then-black with the yellow belt breaking up the grey, it's really striking.
By far the best Batman story of the 2000s; fantastic art and a very well crafted and thought out storyline which shows a more mature take on Batman and his rogues... you are missing out Beardy and McFarlane is knocking these out of the park will definitely get them now alongside the Arkhams
Robo you gotta read white knight! It’s a self contained graphic novel (it has a sequel but it’s not required) that is relatively short. It’s a beautiful combo of BTAS, Keaton Batman and Comic Batman. I think you’d love it.
your reaction to the neck joint and how happy you were is my favorite part about getting figures, finding cool things you didn't realize, having your expectations blown away, etc is the best!
Robo I definitely would recommend the books. White knight is the first story arc and Curse is the 2nd. You can buy each arc in a compiled edition books. Other than the story the art work is amazing imo. As always great reviews
I'll be getting the azrael figure as it is the best one among the three. Glad McFarlane chose this design for azrael and the flaming sword looks awesome, might also look good with the spawn figure. Great review!
I forgot who made the video, Jay C I think, but it was announced that Bane is going to be a build a figure. And the pictures looked awesome and apparently he is massive.
Lol, so many people miss that the Azrael head could also move inside the hood. Just a cool little bit of extra articulation. Also, I HIGHLY recommend reading Batman: White Knight and it's sequel; Batman: Curse of the White Knight. I hear that there is going to be a third installment which may be the last one. It might come out next year or at the end of this year
I have to agree that the McFarlane DC line is growing on me, I only own their Arkham Asylum Joker but it was so good that I went on an eBay spree for some of the older DC Collectibles Arkham figures to build up a display, so I'll probably pick up the McFarlane Arkham Batman at some point, and I always feel that a sign of a great figure is when it makes you want to get more to go along with it. Speaking of DC Collectibles these White Knight inspired figures remind me a lot of what they used to do with their artist specific figures, however they usually lacked in articulation, so it's nice to see McFarlane shoot for the likeness to the art but also aiming for better articulation. Like you said they still have their issues to work out like scaling and some paint aps being off, and in a perfect world I'd like all figures to have double-jointed elbows, but if they have to sacrifice that in order to make improvements in other areas I'll be more than happy. Hopefully they go back and give us maybe some more classic inspired characters and designs too.
The mcfarlane arkham batman is a great figure.i got it last week, haven't put it down since.i highly recommend it. the mcfarlane superman is also a good figure I got that yesterday.hoping for a Henry cavill version from mcfarlane as its my new go to toy company,I'm giving up on neca, too many QC issues.loving this dc stuff but I'm hoping there's more game of thrones figures coming,it's went a bit quiet regarding that line.
@@kryoboy36 I bet you're happy now with the Snyder Cut figures they just revealed. After picking up the White Knight comics I got the Jack Napier/Joker figure and ran into the same eye problem as Robo, so I went ahead and repainted the right eye and honestly I think it's even more dynamic than the Arkham Joker. At this point I'm considering ordering the Batman and I've already ordered the Batman armored Azrael, as soon as I saw that design I knew that I wanted a figure of it.
Sean Murphy’s Batman is my current phase right now. I love the design. It’s different enough without straying away from the iconic design. This is my only purchase from the DC McFarlane line ONLY because of the scaling issues. I get the feeling that Todd McFarlane doesn’t know what scaling is. It seems he actually thinks 7” scale means everyone is designed at a fixed 7” height.
I love that they’re working on scale and materials and everything. Hoping they finish off the White Knight stuff by giving us a nightwing in his Blue jacket to scale in with these and Sean Murphy’s design on batgirl. Maybe even a neo joker.
I have decided to reduce the amount of UA-cam videos that I watch but I'm still going to watch your videos even if I don't know too much about the subject matter.
in the series, he starts a political campaign against batman. he forms a special force unit of vigilantes to go with the cops instead of beside them. thats just the uniform
That Azrael really impressed me. It went from a figure I wasn't sure about to looking like a must-have. I love how they opted to do the cape, and I hope that if they make Raven, they may handle it similarly if they do the old school look.
Man, Sean Murphy did signed and special art on his site, I believe one day before upload (yesterday), he only did single copies, I didn't get the chance to nab one :( but at least I already ordered them, waiting on my plastic to show up, hopefully I can eventually get them signed
I finished setting up a little Sean Gordon Murphy Batman shrine with this line and a sketch variant for Batman #64. Murphy did the sketch when he was pitching this series as an idea years ago.
I absolutely love this Joker figure. Was so fascinated with why he has the swat gear that I wouldn't buy the figure until after I read White Knight (which is fantastic & highly recommended) because I wanted to know the full story behind it. Anyone who's a Batman fan should definitely check out White Knight. Great story.
Aesthetically I see why they've lost the thigh cut but the hip swivel they replace it with doesn't have much range and exposes all the inner workings of the joint which looks worse than just having the thigh cut.
These figures pose better than a lot of the figures out there with thigh cuts and look great. Actually handle/pose azrael, batman and even Napier from this set and see if you're left wanting. I assume you mainly do marvel legends or other figures in that 18-20 dollar price range. These all have the same articulation as companies like storm collectibles for example and no one is whining about not having thigh cuts on figures 4-5 times the price. Legs don't turn like that irl anyway and it always looks stupid when a pose uses it. It's extremely dated articulation.
If they make an animated accurate Batman beyond then I think I’ll get a figure or two from this series (since terry is skinnier of hope the body proportions would look better and function better than the other animated figures) I think they look cool but the only ones that I think that I would want right now are the armored Superman and hell bat Batman
Really good figures and the comic series is amazing, you should give it a chance. Good review and I hope to get these figures soon. By the way, does anyone know a company that makes accessories, especially weapons, for 7-inch figures? I have searched but found nothing.
I feel like these are the first ones where they considered scale, I like the height over the previous releases. And they look good. Very optimistic about the line with the improvements made so far.
I’m really liking these more artist specific, exaggerated designs for the MCF DC line. Some very unique looks for the line, so far Azrael and TBWL are my favorites
I love this set so far I haven’t got azreal yet however I’m getting him in today most likely. I ordered the graphic novel to go with the figures so I know what I’m talking about when I do my review on them. Also haven’t finished it yet so I’m in the same spot as you are I didn’t know much about these versions of the characters however I thought they looked cool I’m enjoying the book so far it’s definitely a recommendation
So I just got my hands on the Azrael repaint "Suit of Sorrows" figure... And the Etrigan "Demon Knight". I know they don't canonically go together, but Holy Crusader vs Demon Knight? That's a pairing.
This is the very definition of ironic. For years I only collected 7 inch scale stuff, mostly NECA, kept my collection small. Then I started watching Fwoosh and he got me into Star Wars 6 inch and for the past few years I've been all about 6 inch scale. And now here he goes covering a bunch of 7 inch stuff.
I was sooo worried about this line. I imagined DC figures coming pre-posted and with 6 weird cuts of articulation...I have never been more happy to be wrong about something! McFarland is knocking these DC figs outta the park! Except the first Batman and the animated figs.... but the rest, pretty damn good!
The white Knight series is written so well, and the characters are amazing. I found Fwoosh in it as well. It's in the 4th or 5th book during a chase scene, and a bridge gets damaged. That's were it Is. I really hope McFarline continues this series. not to spoil some of the characters but there should be the rest of the Bat family, Harley, and maybe even some of the rouge's gallery.
And how could I forget, McFarline needs to make at least one of the more classic designs of the white Knight joker. Either from the beginning or end of the series.
For $20 apiece the upcoming Devastator and co. and Grim Knight...I’ll take ‘em. Otherwise I’m pick and choose w/McFarlane. Better than wave 1 bc of the height differences already. All of them being the same height (Batgirl) was odd.

I ordered the white knight joker strictly for the heads. That Arkham joker head is too big to scale with my Harley Quinn figures. I'll just keep the Jack head on the gto body
When I first saw Sean Murphy's work it made me do a double take. For half a sec I was like wtf? and then immediately became a huge fan. Haven't had as strong a reaction to a new set of designs for a batman series since the dark knight returns. These figures are on par with any of the statues of these characters out there and have completely sold me on McFarlane having the dc license. To the point I want to see him visit dkr and hush just to fire shots at mafex. Figures of those character designs at this level of quality for the price he charges would make a really strong statement when put up against some flimsy, tiny figures that are around 100 bucks a piece. I collect mafex and shf but rather support a domestic company offering high quality product at 1/4 (deluxe) - 1/5(standard) the price. Hopefully he abandons wasting his time with btas stuff and does Harley Quinn animated series figures instead, approaching them the same way he did this set and his my hero academia figures. Hell before doing dkr and hush, doing a long halloween wave would be amazing. Can't wait to pre-order doubles of every figure from the upcoming metals wave. Hopefully he continues to drop a couple of more white knight figures here and there and using the same sculptor, especially some of the female characters from the storyline once he gets up to this standard doing them, especially to scale with these. The armored ww figure is excellent but too tall though it still works well and I don't mind variation in scale as long as figures scale with each other within their particular waves/series/ storyline they're from. Alright I'll stop ranting now, im just really excited to finally have a company making dc figures I actually really want and don't already have 10 versions of and how fast McFarlane was able to get a good amount of amazing figures on my shelf that truly feel like it's a "multiverse" collection. In no particular order these are the must have so far(and I recommend getting them before their prices spike) Hellbat armor batman, armored supes, classic superman but with a cloth cape(the difference is staggering), batman who laughs, gold armor ww(use as is or strip for parts to apply to another ww figure in a scale you like, i have stock and one i did using a icons figure with a mezco head and it looks like a perfect mezco figure but with great articulation) Jack Napier White knight batman White knight azrael Arkham joker The batraptor which is amazing especially for the 20 dollar price point and it is from the batman who laughs/metals storyline. I feel like I'm leaving 1 or 2 out. If you collect in part because of value appreciation or have a dc essentials nightwing id recommend that figure as well. If it's going into your display then using the essentials head elevates the figure substantially. Anyway, if you're a batman and dc fan you owe it to yourself to buy these three figures as soon as you can. Get them on amazon, don't waste your time with bigbadtoystore(by the time you pay tax, shipping, etc and then have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for shipping you couldve already had them and for less money) or driving around hunting them down in the wild, you'll be wasting your time and will eventually get frustrated and have to pay high second hand prices on eBay for a figure like azrael. Seriously if it had some other brands name attached to it and a higher price tag, he wouldn't been even more hyped about the figure during the review.
McFarlane has improved steadily as they've gone with their DC figures. Now I just hope their character selection improves. I'm so jealous of Marvel Legends collectors and the variety they get. I'd even be fine with them throwing a different version of Batman in every wave as long as the rest of the wave is other characters. I need a full Justice League Team! Give me Doom Patrol figures! Teen Titans! I want to be able to feast off this one line!
Every time I see the McFarlane figures in stores, the QC is always all over the place. It’s kept me from pulling the trigger on them. I like the sculpts, but when the paint apps are just horribly messy it just turns me off. The animated series figures seem to suffer the worst from it, since they have hard black lines for the mouths and they’re almost never actually where the mouth is.
Couldn’t recommend this series more, most interesting Batman story I’ve read in years and has my favorite version of Harley
Preach
Everyone can fine a Harley they like in this one 😏😏😏😏😉😉😉😜😜😜😜🤪🤪🤪🤪🤡
If they don't put out both a Harley and a "Neo Joker" it'd be a sin.
Hollingsworth excites me like no other! I consider it a once in a lifetime team on these books!

The batraptor which is amazing especially for the 20 dollar price point and it is from the batman who laughs/metals storyline.
Robo is da best
White knights a good read
It looks like they are scaling down a bit and if they get closer to 6 inch I might start buying
No wonder why the left arm on my left jack was really loose
Gotta say i love this batman for some reason!
More love for Azrael is highly appreciated.
I enjoy your content
