"It just doesn't add up. Here's a man with a bullet in his back, his mouth full of marbles, he's fallen out of a blimp and he ends up at the Rose Bowl stuffed in a tuba". "Well Keys, it sounds like suicide to me". Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!
i remember Steve Lawrence from when i was a kid - i didn't realize he was such a good actor and comedian - he was really funny in this skit - and adorable :}
Thanx muchly for sharing! I just finished listening to Lux Radio Theatre 'Double Indemnity', with Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck, so this was the perfect follow-up. Love Steve Lawrence. And it was nice to see darling Merie Earle again. RIP, gentle soul. (1889-1984) This was a fun bit. Thanx again for sharing!
Is that old woman carol's grandmother? Her grandma and her used to love going to old movies together, so it would make sense that she let her grandma have a cameo in her old movie parody...
@Oppeldeldoc1 - It could be argued that Lawrence was to the Burnett show what Steve Martin was to "Saturday Night Live," in terms of his numerous guest appearances, so frequent he was often mistaken for a semi-regular.
+Vinnie Bartilucci Lyle was actually on the first 6 or 7 seasons of the show - he was part of the original line-up. However, due to a contractual dispute with the original production company, the first 5 seasons were only just released last year.
Delightful, parody comedy. I read the book (which was even more bizarre that the movie) and watched the movie a couple of times. This little sketch was admirably done.
Watching these skits now reminds me why I loved the Carol Burnett Show as a kid!
Omg Vicki Lawrence!! 😂😂
I know... A Midol Cocktail would do dear Lola wonders.🤣
For someone best known as a singer, Steve Lawrence is a wonderful comedy actor. No wonder he was on this show so many times.

Bummer. My accident insurance policy said that's the only way anyone could collect. And me, afraid of heights. 🤣
It was the under the legs, backward shot that made me loose my coffee this time. Ty for posting
"Here are the blimp tickets!" I don't know why but that line gets me every time.
"....ends up in the Rose Bowl, stuffed in a too-ba" gets me.
Love 1:45-1:55 when the older lady says what Walter is saying! Carol followed that brilliantly with "I hope she didn't hear it!. Wonderful!
I just got done watching "Double Indemnity" (1944) for the first time tonight. This was a funny skit.
Excuse , where could you see the movie ??
Vicki Lawrence is always great, I wish they had used her more on the show
The old lady in the grocery store cracks me up every time!

+allthatjazzspaz95 I don't know, but she cracks me up every time. :-)
The old woman in the supermarket is the wonderfully funny actress, Merie Earle. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merie_Earle

Who moved the object as Steve and Carol sat on the couch in th early part of the skit!
oh i got a run on my stocking 8:45
Caroll was a head of her time goods to see good clean comedy
Good clean comedy of a wife murdering her husband for an insurance claim. Classic
8:14 when he shoots her in the bum!
This too funny. How've I never seen this one before 😆
The wonderful good old days
I think her wig looked better than Barbara Stanwyck’s-hers was so awful 😄
Before Dear Sister, there was this
The last time I saw glasses that large on a person, he had x-ray vision and was in a Roger Corman movie.
I laugh till the tears come.
Very cute!
I'm laughing even more reading the comments!

Hillarious😂
Fantastic
HILARIOUS 😂
A
Who is that as Keys?
That's Lyle Waggoner, who was on the show for only a few seasons. He went on to play Steve Trevor on Wonder Woman.
+Vinnie Bartilucci Lyle was actually on the first 6 or 7 seasons of the show - he was part of the original line-up. However, due to a contractual dispute with the original production company, the first 5 seasons were only just released last year.
This is five years late but it was Lyle Waggoner who by the way died a month ago
Vicki was always fantastic!!
My sister met her when she worked at See's Candies (my sister worked at See's, not Vicki Lawrence) and she was really nice.
Rest in peace Steve Lawrence
