I find Alocasia are heavy feeders. Mine have all kept popping out leaves all winter, so I just kept up with fert. Also, they have had ONLY rainwater since the fall. I then add either fish emulsion, or Marphyl every other or so water, but just more diluted. They all stayed outside all summer in my lil'woodlandia garden, in the shade of the North side of the house & a big Black Walnut tree - 3 Polly's & a Stingray. The Polly's flowered 1st thing when I brought them in, boom, boom, boom, one after the other. Now they have all been popping out leaves, one after the other, all happy as clams. 2 I have in MG moisture control, the others are all in a custom aroid mix. The KEY, I think, is FERTILIZER, and that is why I think they adapt well to LECA. Also, they like to dry out a bit between watering - which is another feature of LECA care they prefer. Also, it is why the 2 I have like the MG stuff, as its organic neutral, peat based, so the medium dries enough for their liking.
I made it to the end (of your video)...and I am so jealous.....but the healthy kind. Over the last few months my eyes as a collector and how I approach my plants is vastly different than the last 25 years....I have so much passion in it again (the last 11 years have been traumatic.)
Wow, that Miki Japanese Pearl Orchid! Love the way the pink is speckled! I have no luck with orchids, but I can admire them from afar. Also, that hoya sunrise is gorgeous!
So i lost my mind over covid and now have MANY orchids bought from Crystal Star nursery and Plantrunz have been to my house more times then food/grocery deliveries 😂
i have been thinking about giving orchids a try again, and found Micheal's Orchid's on youtube. He has lots of experience growing them in leca. I would however use something else for a container. He has to break them out of glass jars!
yeah, I was just going to ask about the square planters when I thought to check if they are there in the description. And of course they are! Thanks Kevin!
Hey Kevin! I can highly recommend giving MissOrchidGirl a watch, she has many years with orchid under her belt and she's just a foundtain of knowledge when it comes to orchid :D.
i think you were thinking of the saying “it takes the cake” 😂 fr tho the sun stressing on that sunrise is to die for, some of the prettiest i’ve ever seen. can’t wait to see the update on the propped babies 💚💚
Leca drop! 🎤 😁 I love all of these beauties but the Plowmaii is my favourite!!! Hoya Sunrise is so, so pretty ❤. Repot and TLC! Don't kill the orchid 😯...bring her in!! I feel like we can gave her thrive at work. It's hot enough 🤭
Phals are typically fine when you repot them. They’re tough so the flowers should be fine! When it comes to orchids when in doubt repot them! They go downhill fast when the medium is bad.
I have a bunch of alocasias and they grow best in the winter too! Mine are in soil and they make so many leaves in the winter sunlight. I'm not sure if it's the direct sunlight or something else about the winter conditions. Your golden bone and plowmanii are absolute babes! 10/10, good job
Kevin! LOVE your channel and LOVE the syngonium mojito! I have a few in soil that I've been considering moving to pon - based off yours, it looks like they'd be happy with the transition!
Love watching your channel Kevin, really envy how healthy and lush your plants are. For plants in LECA, could I ask what type of nutrients you feed them with?
Hey Kevin! Your plants are such goals 😍 I have an issue with repotting my leca plants with thinner roots like my alocasias, fob and 69686, they tend to get root rot. Do you have any suggestions?
Hmm are you giving them enough light? I find that's the key most times. With alocasias, I've noticed that the old roots tend to rot/die but new ones grow that are acclimated to LECA. Also I find the 69686 just a tough philodendron to root. I've had my own issues with that one rooting.
Hi kevin showing love and support from Ph so excited to see your plants ! @7:10 love the pattern of your mojito @9:32 oh your sunrise are amazing firts time to see super stressed hoya @12:09 i fell inlove with your orchid too !!

The sunrise is so pretty 😍. I'm sure your zebrina will bounce back 😊 thanks for asking! My back is feeling better. Ultimately I needed to make changes to my posture and it's helping 💚🥰
@@kevin. glad to hear that it is better 😊 When I have back pain, some simple stretching exercises help me a lot I hope so 😊 but at least I have a tiny propagation from a kernel of the zebrina so even if she doesn't bounce back, I have a backup 😄
Honestly, you are not even scratching the surface of the diversity of orchid hybrids, especially phalaenopsis. And when you find out the can be fragrant too and not only pretty…
Your Plowmanii is so unique! Love how round and pleated it is, almost like if a Plowmanii, mamei, and pastazanum had a 👼🏻
That's what I keep thinking !!! 💚
