    I’m about to plant my runners in the ground tomorrow! I took a bunch runners and put them in a bucket! I even did that for a few brown ones and they all have roots! I’m excited to see how it all turns out!!

    WOW! Thanks for this update. I tried planting runners and was not successful. Now I know how to plant them the right way and can’t wait to try it. Again thank you 👍🙂

      What was your issue? Did you wait to plant them until you had long white roots? Were you planting them in a shaded area or sun? Did you water them every day?

    • @tygerstripes3752

      @@thesecretgarden6948 I did soak and plant them with long white roots in both sun and shade. What I've learned here that might make a difference is to have each piece rooted on both ends. I've got some St. Augustine 'sod pods' planted now and am watering them every day to establish them, but could use some free grass for the lawn's bare patches. We have a lot of runners!

    Thanks so much for making and sharing these videos! I have had my runners submerged in water for a week now and they are looking a little brown. Still green, just not as green as when I cut them. In your video, your runners that grew roots look green, but it also looks like you didn’t have them fully submerged in the water? Does the grass still need air, and only the root area should touch water? When to have time, please let me know! Thank you!!

    wow. I yesterday put some in two buckets from my yard fro seeing your video, but I also tried the other way of just taking some(I ran out of space) , and put them in some top soil with starter fertilizer, and watered it in. I also had some runners near that area from my other grass so I spread little of that top soil near it as well. I will go water again maybe around 11(a few hours from now) to make sure they dont dry out, since I did this last evening.

    Oh! So i can buy a square sod thingy and cut it up into smaller like plugs and that would be a cheap way to help make my st augustine lawn better? I was quoted $3k for to resod but i have patchy good areas.
    Please help because i just bought a home and im broke now. The problem is i have Bermuda from the neighbor creeping into my st augustine lawn. Should i use roundup to kill the Bermuda so my st augustine grass and overcome it?

    A half inch+ of sandy loam (not top soil) helps glue it down and maintain moisture.

    My neighbors lawn in Bermuda and mine is st Augustine. Bermuda took over the st Augustine on one side, do you have any recommendations on how I can grow back st Augustine in that thick Bermuda area ?? TIA

    • @markbattaglia9076
      @markbattaglia9076 9 місяців тому

      If you follow proper fertilization practices and cut very high you have a shot against Bermuda, especially if it’s somewhat shaded.
      If you cut low the Bermuda will almost certainly win.

    What type St Aug is this? Reason i ask is i heard that Palmetto is best shade loving turf. Noticed that urs looks kinda shady. I'm in Kentucky and ordered some expensive Palmetto plugs for shady areas and hoping that they'll take off despite our colder winters. Urs looks great!
