@@fishingmad Thanks for the reply. Sorry about the question, I wasn't in front of the computer a couple of times. I enjoy your videos. Very professional
Good video Alan, I went out last week and only kept 2 flathead. The caught so many around the 30cm size but threw them back. I think the water temps start to to rapidly start dropping, fishing will pick up again.
Yeah the volume of flathead between 27cm and 35cm is crazy at the moment, i went back last week and found some bigger models holding shallower around 3 meters, so maybe try that next time
Love the video thanks . I would like to know where do get the small green fish grabber to hold the fish to get the hook out I can only find the larger ones
I picked it up from the bargain box at my tackle store so many years ago, its been brilliant. I haven't seen them since only the bigger ones which can be awkward
G'day Alan I will be ordering the new flattie lure just a question what size jig head should I use for kgw of the beach with turtle back worms ,great videos thanks.
Hey Allen, I have been trying to catch e.p and Redfin in the upper half of the barwon river past Buckley falls closer to the ring road. Do you have any tips or tricks to catch some because I’m lost for ideas. Absolutely love the videos, cheers
I have fished that system but further up, watch these vids here which might help ua-cam.com/video/5sYC21mM4YE/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/PPgp-EDBBHo/v-deo.html i found small lightly weighted soft plastics on the edges and structure to be best and shallow diving hard body lures aswell
Thank you and Yeah agreed completely with size limits, I said 32cm to start slowly heading in that direction but agree 35cm should be the ultimate goal
This is the legal size and catch limits for Victoria vfa.vic.gov.au/recreational-fishing/recreational-fishing-guide/catch-limits-and-closed-seasons/types-of-fish/marine-and-estuarine-scale-fish/flathead-all-species-except-dusky-flathead ( these are not duskies )
Yeah, i'm currently filming a heap of land based vids its been a big focus at the moment, next week will show one of my best vids yet which is land based and Sorrento certainly not out of the question as another spot
Yeah we have recently implemented new rules on dusky flathead in Vic too, we mainly only get them in regions like Gippsland, but they are an amazing species so great to see limits making a difference.
Gday Allen, I accidentally broke the rod tip of my light soft plastic rod, And suggestions? I need not to expensive but the 140-180 range would be fine. I want the rod to be suitable for stuff like reddie, trout, snapper, whiting and flattys but it really has to be able to cast soft plastics a bomb. Keep up the great work and tight lines brother 🎣🎣🎣
Thanks for the positive feedback. Shame about your rod. At that price point have a look at things like a NS Amped, Atomic Arrowz, or if you can sneak upto a Shimano Zodias, Shimano TCurve or Daiwa TD Black.
Don’t just ditch the rod, put a new tip on it and glue it on yourself. New ferrules are available from anywhere that sells fishing gear. Your rod will have a slightly heavier action but is still a working rod.
Great vid Al... we moved here from nsw bit over 12 months ago, next to no salt water experience so the fishing mad content has been awesome.. thanks!!
Im so glad the content has been helpful for you, got some great stuff on the way i'm sure you'll enjoy
Alan, thanks for the video. What size jig head do you use?
I did cover this in the vid, but I was using 1/8 2-0 and when it was calmer droped to 1/12 2-0 cheers

Hey Alan I’m thinking to buy a Kayak for the first time, any thoughts on Bay sports 3.6 kayak ??
A few of my mates have owned bay sports yaks and had issues with the drive system failing. From what I know they are good value but not very durable.
Love the video thanks . I would like to know where do get the small green fish grabber to hold the fish to get the hook out I can only find the larger ones

Wow lots of flathead mate good stuff it seems to be a great plastic cheers mate
Thanks !! Yeah its very surprising as it looks very gimmicky, but its catch rates are excellent
G'day Alan I will be ordering the new flattie lure just a question what size jig head should I use for kgw of the beach with turtle back worms ,great videos thanks.
Excellent, For KGW I usually use 1/12 jig heads in 1-0 with an assist hook, pretty sure I have some vids on the channel about this which may help

Awesome clip Al ! Are these soft plastics available from BCF ?
I don't think so, I got mine directly from "on the Edge Lures" website, just ping them directly to confirm.
Ordered some, thanks for the video..
Awesome 👍
Where from?
Totally agree on Flathead size legal limit should be 35cm minimum. Same with pinkie's. Great video. Will be acquiring some of these plastics.

Those lures look a lot like a gurnard too so lots of predatory fish would be interested.
These were out 25 years ago and were smashing the flatty back then, still got one in the tackle box,
Another great vid, thanks Alan.
Thank you, its greatly appreciated
hi i am really obsessed with fishing nowadays and do you think that you can do a fishing video in Sorrento pier
Yeah, i'm currently filming a heap of land based vids its been a big focus at the moment, next week will show one of my best vids yet which is land based and Sorrento certainly not out of the question as another spot
where can u get the newer TPE ones ? on the edge lures website says theyre not TPE they are a class 1 pvc?
Might be worth sending Jason at On the Edge Lures a message to get him to confirm. I'm honestly not 100% sure. Cheers
Hi Alan were do I get these from im finding it hard to catch flatties
On the Edge Lures sell them, that's where I got them from. Jump on their website or FB page. Hope that helps.
Our Dusky Flathead in Queensland have to be minimum 40cm but tend to keep 50-60 as a good feed 👍
Yeah we have recently implemented new rules on dusky flathead in Vic too, we mainly only get them in regions like Gippsland, but they are an amazing species so great to see limits making a difference.
Any advice for lure fishing in lake wendouree?
Shallow diving lures and spoons slow rolled along the edges some great fish in that system
Thanks mate, what do you mean by the edges?
its very weedy so fish along the weed edges, trout will often reside in the weed beds
What colour was the one used please mate?
Was the 80mm in Tan colour, Thanks

Daiwa 23 TD BLACK GRUB'N 722ULFS is a decent one.

They need to make a larger size / rod, reel and line...
Then papa will eat the size your catching...
