    Great review - My wife has had a freemont for two years, and there's a couple of things I'll add:
    -You don't need to fold the middle row forward to get the rear row of seats up - I'd suspect the reason you couldn't pull them up was because the middle row was reclined, if they're fully upright, you can flip up the third row with the pull tab no problems at all.
    -The middle row of seats can be folded completely flat, creating a huge cargo area, and the front passenger seat can be folded flat creating an even bigger load area, this has come in handy on a few Ikea runs for me :)
    -Yes, the materials are hard in the interior, but it is very durable - after two years and having three kids in ours, it's never taken nothing more than a quick clean to make the interior look brand new again, and the leather seats are very easy to wipe down, if you have kids that spill bottles etc.
    other than that, I agree with your summary, as I said, great review!

    This car has a unique personality. Not a van nor SUV. Also these are pretty reliable. I've had mine for 4 years and 130k miles later I've just changed the oil. Although I do need to have it in for its 130k mi service. The interior has held up well the engine and transmission are still smooth and I car pool my kids and coworker's. If FCA gives this car a good update, I'll buy another one.

    Very comprehensive review, as usual. I had a Freemont and it's the ultimate car if you have children or a very big dog: lots of space, great confort and decent economy (Only the FWD. With the automatic AWD you'll need an oil tanker on support...). P.S. You can have the full panoramic sunroof if you opt out the 3-zone climate control. Keep on with your good job!

    Ich warte und lese immer wieder in Foren und Artikeln nach, die über irgendwelche technische Probleme bei dem Freemont schreiben könnten. Aber ich finde einfach nichts, was großartig gegen den Italo-Amerikaner spricht. Dieses Auto ist bis jetzt konkurrenzlos in diesem Segment.
    Ich finde das preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist unschlagbar: die Qualität im Innenraum lässt zwar zu wünschen übrig, die Beziehung Getriebe-Motor ist auch nicht die beste, dafür bekommt man für das Geld ziemlich viel an Luxus: Automatik,170ps, Ledersitze, 7-sitze, viel Platz, Keyless, Allrad, rückfahrkamera, u.v.m. Wenn man noch Qualität an den Materialien sucht, muss man zu den deutschen Herstellern wechseln und das doppelte an Geld(wenn nicht sogar mehr) hinlegen.
    Deswegen ist dieses Auto für eine 5-köpfige,junge Familie einfach ideal: Spaß für mich als Vater, Platz für die Kids und Frauchen hat keinen Grund (hoffentlich) zu meckern...

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  9 років тому

      Giovanni Lenti Hi! Klar, kein Problem. In der Tat hat der Freemont ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, bei keinem Auto bekommt man mehr Raum für das Geld. Mit drei Kindern wird es in einem normalen Kombi wahrscheinlich in der Tat zu eng. Generell sind in den meisten Qualitäts-Statistiken die Fiats nicht oben mit dabei, allerdings wird dieser Fiat als Partner-Modell vom Dodge Journey in den USA gebaut. Bei JD Power schneidet er nicht gerade gut ab, beim Dekra Gebrauchtwagenreport ist er nicht drin. Willst du den neu kaufen? Ich denke, ein weiterer Grund kann sein, dass es beim Händler für das Modell sicher einen guten Rabatt gibt, weil er sich in Deutschland kaum verkauft.

    I am interested in one of these, but I am worried about depreciation after, say three years. I can't imagine I would get much value back on a later sale. Perhaps better to buy a 1 yr old version for much less.

    Nachdem wir neulich unser 3. Kind bekommen haben, kam der Audi A4 Avant (2008) zu eng für alles was mitgescleppt werden muss. So viel ich es von den Forums mitbekommen habe ist der Freemont von Preis/Leistung her der beste 7-sitzer Angebot auf dem Markt. Übrigens wird er auch als 2.4 VVT Benziner Version (auch 170PS) als EU-Ausführung auf mobile.de angeboten. Hat jemand irgenwelche Ideen oder Erfahrungen mit diesem Motor gemacht. Es scheint ein wenig viel zu verbrauchen aber dafür ist er auch wesentlich günstiger.

      murat kuzey yilmaz Hi! In der Tat ist der Preis wirklich ungeschlagen. Zu dem Benziner kann ich leider nichts sagen, sorry!

    I have the Dodge Journey with the 3.6L V6. It's very peppy.. I've also had issues with the transmission not selecting the right gear, I went to the shop and they updated the transmission software and I've had no issues since then. The only difference between the Dodge Journey and the Fiat Freemont is that the Journey has satellite radio which is amazing! But the radio antenna is slightly larger at the base of the antenna to fit the satellite radio receiver.

      +Kyle Nowland thanks for the feedback, interesting!

    • @mtumasz
      @mtumasz 8 років тому

      +Kyle Nowland not exactly. I test-drove both in Europe and there is at least one major difference: the diesel engine. Dodge was offered with VW sourced engine with 140HP, Fiat is offered with a 170HP FCA group engine, available also in Alfa Romeos. The suspension has also been improved but I couldn't have noticed that as the test drives were years apart. On my recent Fiat drive I noticed that 'premium' audio sounded rather poor (worse than my plain standard audio system in Alfa Romeo 159SW, which is a shame). I am considering this car for my family (space inside is pectacular and value for money is hard to beat esp. that you can get brand new cars that are two years old at a hefty discount of ca. 30%). However, not everyone is happy with reliability and EVERYONE COMPLAINS about the weak headlights. Unfortunately it seems that xenon lights are not available at all.

    Second point. Dodge Journey and Fiat freemont are non the same car. There are a lot of difference and the script Dodge Journey/Fiat freemont in the title is an error

    If one has to factor the price tag this vehicle is waving, it's really hard to find something that matches the bang for buck feeling you get in it. I mean Santa fe here in Sweden is at least 10k€ more. And Mitsubishi Outlander is smaller and feels even more plastic then this car. What worries me thou is the total silence of the owners. Can't find many threads that discusses the con's and pros of this car. Especially quality wise. On the other hand that might be the proof needed that it in fact might be really good in parts/quality...
    Or what do you think?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  9 років тому

      ***** Hey Gustavo, yes you are right, the price is really convincing, considering what you get for it. The vehicle isnt sold that much so that might be the reason you cannot find that much about it. Maybe you find more about the Dodge Journey?

      Autogefühl , thanks for the detailed review of this car. I was planning to buy one and watched your review and was convinced to buy it with the attractive price this car has compared to its rivals. I bought a 2013 lounge model in turkey two weeks ago and I very much like it. Long story short, I want to thank you for the precise information you have provided in this review and I believe this is a great value for money.

    The Dodge Journey is seen in the U.S. as an unfortunate byproduct of the Cerberus-Capital ownership of Chrysler that drove them in bankruptcy. This car was designed long before Fiat bought Chrysler. It's known for its poor driving dynamics, poor interior quality, and poor engines. Put quite simply, it's an also-ran that Fiat is selling in Europe as a stop-gate measure until they can get something more modern to succeed it. I feel sorry to any European who gets stuck with this vehicle, as it represents the worst of American auto-manufacturing....

    Terrible review! You seem very bias.
    I think your fiats are made of cheaper materials because my 2014s dash is not made of a hard plastic, in-fact there really is not much hard plastic in my RT.
    Also it’s not a panoramic sunroof that’s why it does not extend across the roof, I believe its called a moon roof.
