I bought a 2015 R/T AWD a few months ago as a credit rebuilder. I feel like I got great bang for the buck with the amount of vehicle I got for the money. As an almost 10 year old vehicle, it still has great features like the heated seats and wheel, the fantastic Uconnect system, a great Alojne stereo, back up cam and tons of storage and passenger room. I like it a lot because it has just enough of the features I want and none of the new driver assist stuff with bells and whistles and warning lights and vibrating seats and all the nonsense new cars have. The driving position is very comfortable and commanding. This is an excellent long distance cruiser. I commute 120km round trip all highway daily with it and it’s an excellent ride. The highway fuel economy is acceptable for an all wheel drive box on wheels on the highway, I can average around 10L/100k. The city fuel consumption is disgusting, I can be as high as 14-15L/100k which is pretty rough for a V6. J used to do around 10 in the city with my 3.8L Buick Lesabre. The AWD is the fuel killer, however the winter time stability and the extra peace of mind traction do somewhat make up for the extra fuel use. The engine itself is great, but the 6 speed auto can be a little bit laggy and rubbery sometimes. If you’re just driving normally, it’s smooth as can be, but when trying to accelerate quickly or pass on the highway, it gets confused and either holds or drops a gear at weird times and then feels like a haywire CVT. Overall, it does everything I need and want it to do, and I would absolutely buy another one, maybe an 18 or 19 Crossroad. Price point is great for what you get as a used vehicle. Pretty much does everything a Durango can do except have a V8 and a little more room. Solid 8/10 vehicle for a daily family vehicle that will get the job done. This is also the first Dodge I’ve ever owned, in over 100 vehicles in 20 years.

Dodge makes the SUVs you had mentioned earlier, not Chrysler. They are the parent company that owns Dodge. Kinda like GM owns Chevy and Buick.

Not a fair comparison to the hybrid Highlander IMO - that STARTS at $47,300. You could buy two Journey V6's for that.

Other then that it is a great SUV for families. Drives comfortably, reliable and handles very well. The 8inch Unconnect system is the best in its class for sure!

I own a 09 RT AWD Journey and absolutely love it. I use it for work and it doubles as my farm truck, the AWD system works well (traction control off) and I have taken it offroad into some pretty gnarly terrain and it took it in stride. The only limiting factors were ride height (I do have General Grabbers on it) and the size of my balls! I understand my DJ is no jeep but just thought I would pass my experiences along. Don't be afraid to get your DJ dirty, they love it!

I owned a 2012 DODGE JOURNEY AWD . The car is great and FUN to drive! I don't seen any problem on it. I already change my brake pads once as I reached 65,000 Miles on it, now I'm at 76,000 Miles already. I drove it twice from Maryland to Colorado . and Arizona to Maryland twice. I'm an aggressive driver on the highway. Speeding to +10 or over on the road posted It gives me 23-25 MPG Highway using Cruise Control at 75 MPH . Over all? I WOULD SUGGEST TO BUY IT.
P.S. I change up my factory tire which is the Kumho Solus into PIRELLI Centurato P7 225/55-R19. So smooth and quite on the road.

I LOVE MY DODGE JOURNEY! I'm a Chrysler fan. Who cares if it "outdated". You literally get a lot for your money with this thing. Granted the gas mileage could be a little better but it's a crossover which weighs more and it can haul 7 people thats the way it goes it's a SUV/ crossover. I just bought a 19' model. I have the v6 Pentastar its fast, quiet and it's smooth. The only issue I have is with the uconnect system it doesn't always recognize my phone so I have to redo it either maybe it's my phone cuz I always buy cheap cell phones or it's just the Uconnect system. The radio is kind of wonky you can't change the climate controls as in the direction of air flow when your on the phone using the Uconnect but it's okay. It definitely has power style and overall the look is amazing.

Actually I wish I had one for when my hands are full of heavy crap like my camera gear. I have to pick it up off the ground to sling it on my back once when leaving the location. With a power liftgate I could slide it right in whereas now I have to set it down on the sometimes muddy sometimes snowy ground first.

I don’t think that really matters much but it was a great feel and definitely a big step up from my Chevy Malibu. I’m considering buying this or a Toyota sienna I like sitting up high I used to be a CDL truck, driver and comfort in being able to see everything and be able to haul anything you want is awesome awesome.

This tester obviously doesn't realize that the Journey IS a Crossover. Dodge themselves even market it as '"an affordable midsize crossover". And whats with that starting MSRP at 35k? The Journey starts at 20k and even the most loaded R/T version with EVERY SINGLE OPTION AVAILABLE will barely tip the 35k price point. TFL has a problem with skewing the facts.

    • @eeeharc8713

Here in Canada the fully loaded R/T is $50,000 which is expected because everything in Canada is more expensive.

I have a 2012, when I press on the gas, doesn't chirp the tires, but as the RPMs climb, it's like a train, lots of moving force. The 6 speed keeps the engine in its sweet spot. You just have to step on it more often. It'll learn how you drive.
It's a mid sized crossover, 3 rows, AWD, and a avail 6cyl. Without the massive size of a traverse, Durango, or a pilot.
You can get a well equipt model for 31k.
This is a bad review. He kept in going about a hemi, but was upset about the mpg of the 6cyl
Which on a recent trip from nyc to Charlotte, 26.4mpg with cruise control set to 70
    5 passengers and luggage (AWD, 3row, 6cyl)

Too many movies and dateline ruined the "man van" , i had the grand voyager SE 3.3 with Qtr. Mill miles still smooth. Bought it mainly bc of how cheap it was but really appreciated the comfort and the engine felt massive when accelerating compared to the civic I had. The gutted out USPS shorty van with the 3.8L is a poor mans R/T . You can replace the shocks and get sticky tires for a great ride.

Well they have to let them be honest, if they stopped letting reviewers review their cars because they didn't like their opinion on it then it could turn away potential business when the reviewer tells everyone that a certain company stopped letting borrow their cars to review because they didn't like their review of a previous car they did. That'd let people think that maybe all of their cars suck and they're trying to cover it up by only allowing positive reviews.

In the US that is very much true. Most sales are lower trim level FWD models, which is to say it is the bargain people hauler. That is why Chrysler is trying to spruce it up a bit with the more SUVish package they showed at Chicago. It will be a couple of years before its replacement goes into production so they have to make the most of the current model.

It's a modern day station wagon.i have a 2012 stx no 3rd row front wheel with the v6. And to me it reminds me of the cars my parents or aunts and uncles drove when I was a kid the big oldsmobile wagon or the Buick or the Chevrolet they all looked like the same big box. It's kinda low to the ground to be a real suv it's to small to be a minivan but it drives more like a car to me again I have the 2wheel drive version.so I say a bring Back of a station wagon that nobody really asked for.i dont say this as a negative I actually really like it maybe not the looks of it but the driving is nice.its got boring easy drive and to me its quick shifts smooth steady excelleration. And the storage under the passenger seat is really cool.

I like croasover more than SUV. I am currently driving 2010 Mazda CX-7 with turbo DISI engine.
When all using upgraded high power engine, what will you say of makinh a comparison between 2016 Dodge Journey , Huyndai Santa Fe sport 2.0T, and KIA aporyage?
I am in the market to replace my car, but I do not know which one to look into.
I prefer a car with excellent maneuverability ( able to make tighter turn), fast acceleration and overall max speed, and reliable/less problem engine, less problem electronic issues.
Which one of the listed 3 cars will you suggest? I saw your video of drag race and side to side comparison of Kia sportage vs Hyundai Sante Fe sport, so I would like to hear your expertise answer.
    Thank you.

Dodge should get rid of that ancient 4 speed slushbox and replace it with a nine speed automatic transmission for both 4 and 6 cylinder engines in the Journey. Hopefully the Grand Caravan and the Town & Country minivans don't get discontinued because of three row crossovers.

I just bought my 2rd journey the SXT plus model, our 1st was a 2009 . We test drove so many SUV's and yet we came back to the journey why because they really are nice to drive we went everywhere with ours, long distance vacations with 2 adults 2 young adults and 3 pre-teens. yet are small enough not to get on its own way.The Durango in way cooler to look at but the ride sucks. The highlander is not only way more money but honestly the interior quality is bad so its the interior noise at highway speed. the new escape is beatyful inside and out and the bigger 4 cylinder with turbo is the way to go, but it only seats 4 comfortable 5 in a pinch, the subaru forester or the new impreza crosstrek are nice but only 5 seaters and way too slow. So we went back to the man van that my wife really likes and I like, and lets be honest nothing will drive as smooth like the denali we traded for our journey but we are also getting twice the mpg.

What is your fuel economy? AWD or FWD? Which engine? Do you drive conservatively or heavy footed? It's really hard to figure out what to expect as far as fuel economy, because people often don't mention whether they have FWD or AWD, and that can make a huge difference.

I currently own an older model of the dodge journey and all I can say is DO NOT BUY ONE. The biggest issue is the brakes. Search the web on lawsuits for Dodge Journey's. They put too small of brakes on this size of vehicle. I have literally changed my brakes 3 times in the last two years. Dodge knows of the problem but still has done nothing to fix the issue. I also have a 2002 2500hd Chevy Silverado and I haven't even had to change the front brakes yet and its 2p15 now. What does that tell you about Dodge. There are also numerous other problems with these cars. The cooling system is another draw back. Not just telling you about my issues but others as well that I personally know. Dodge says it all:
    DODGE THIS CAR!

    • @str8ng3r75
      @str8ng3r75 9 років тому +1

      +66blueshifted
no they didnt fix the brakes. maybe on the newer models. if you have an older model you need to fork out the bucks to upgrade them. dodge surely isnt going to pull their heads out of their a** to fix the older models. my opinion, dont buy one. There is other common problems with them. power steering growls and the coolant system are other problems many people complain about and yes im dealing with all of it. SCREW DODGE!

    • @str8ng3r75
      @str8ng3r75 9 років тому

+66blueshifted dont just tell me sorry. tell everyone else who bought one. dont believe me, just lookup all the lawsuits online about the journey's. also its ranked in the top cars people complained about for co sumer reports. this car is a lemon. there is no arguement. the evidence is all thete and just because one person says its a good car doesnt mean crap. thousands of others say differently. i still stand by everything i said. one of the worst cars you can buy.
