  • This time I bring an electronic kit for beginners, this is a very cheap and interesting device that displays audio levels into the LEDs just like any audio level bar indicator will do. It is simple and fast to build.
This kit comes with a very simple PCB board to solder the components upon, it has all markings to identify where to put each component, and it uses an LM3915N-1 IC chip to process the signals and display it.

just add to the pin 5 LM3915 electrolyte 2.2μF against the ground and the luminosity of the LED diode will improve. also with this capacitor can regulate the speed of movement.

Do you think it is possible to use them and make a spectrum analyser with something like 10 of them?

    Hi,
I’ve just made one, I know how to attach the battery that’s easy, but because I’m a newbie I’m not entirely sure how to connect the music and speaker side. What did you use to connect the cable to?
Mine works I can see the lights, I would just like to finish the project with some sound going thru it. Your help would be appreciated 🙏

You need an audio cable. That's it.

The voltage levels these things require to register even for the lowest bar is extremely high, even if you turn sensitivity to maximum. You really need to put this thing to the output of a power amplifier. It won't register headphone outputs very well, at acceptable volumes. You need to turn the volume up fully beyond the safety level to get it to register. It's a shame these things don't have integrated amplifiers.

I found out that I had to make a bridge between two pads to fix it, but it doesnt have any instructions explaining that.

Can 3.5mm cable replaced to RCA cable?
I mean, 3.5 male - RCA male, cut the rca lines, and use it for audio signal.

Just completed project where I used this diy vumeter. Needed to turn on relay with audio signal from landline - so I made this kit and used ldr with Arduino and it works flawlessly.
