    I bought the MZ Magnum 54" in 2019 for 1.5 acres with the Kohler engine. An acre of my land was previously a hay field and is pretty rough even after having a local farmer come out and "level" it. I bought the tracseat for it and will be installing it for this upcoming season. Think about your back when buying a mower because if you do not have a buttery smooth yard it is ROUGH!Other than a rough ride which really isn't the mowers fault, I don't have any complaints.
    Oil changes are easy, filter changes are easy, the fuel filter is right there, etc. The ONLY complaint regarding maintenence is one of the grease fittings is literally impossible to get to unless you have a jack! I bought a MoJack this year so I can do blade replacements myself, get to last grease fittings and also scrape under it easier.
    I love the mower but will love it more once that suspension seat is on it. If curious, I think I have 60 hours on it? I only did one mowing in 2019 as we moved to our property in late August.
    Good luck on your mower search!

    Excellent summary that agrees with a ton of time consuming research I did. I would add a comment that Commericial Mowers have the added cost of a roll bar because commercial orginazations may have it as a specification safety requirement and not because you need a roll bar on a lawn mower.

    I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

    Huh. This was really interesting! I'm busy trying to sort out the balance between speed and quality over cost when it comes to mowing 15 acres of silvopasture. Given that my land has significant undulation and permanent marsh in the low sections, I may have to up the target price a little bit. Thanks!

    Nice mowers! My Craftsman was about $3K eight years ago. Hasn’t needed anything aside from maintenance except tires. 42” deck serves me well because my lawn has a few tight spots where a larger deck would be near impossible to get in. Thanks for the review.

    I actually went up to the Maverick HD which is a commercial grade mower, once I seen the difference between it and the Maverick it was worth the extra money especially since I have 4 acres to mow.

    • @cutator
      @cutator 2 роки тому +1

      I could not see enough difference to justify the extra $1,500 bucks, other than maybe the adjustable seat. I am mowing 3.75 acres, a couple of areas are a bit bumpy, but honestly barely noticeable with the Maverick.

    • @ronb7931
      @ronb7931 2 роки тому +1

      @@cutator there are many upgrades that you must not know about, obviously the suspension seat with dial adjustment which is a $900 seat, next the EZ ride front and rear suspension, then and most importantly to me is the upgraded engine with a commercial grade dual air intake filter which not only flows air better but extends engine life, next the hydro gear is upgraded from the ZT 3200 that you have to the ZT 3400 which produce 500 ft.lbs of torque and max speeds of 10 mph vs your 470 ft.lbs and 9 mph, next yours has internal fluid chambers for the transaxles vs the upgraded external fluid reservoir which makes servicing and maintenance easier and lastly the HD model has the No Flat front tires upgrade. Add all that up and you are well beyond that amount of money, that’s why the HD is a full commercial grade and the Maverick is still a top end residential…

    I own the media magnum. Works well for me and my yard. If I had more lawn to mow the maverick would be ideal. I do have uneven hills on my lawn and have learned how to keep from scalping the humps. I do not regret buying this mower and would suggest anyone else to buy a badboy mower!

  • @davidcason1009

    I have a Gravely commercial. The biggest differences I see are the thickness of the mower deck and associated hardware. My mower deck is 1/4” and not pressed like the residential versions. Also, the hydraulic pumps on the commercial are made for heavier use. When you run the residential mowers for many hours at a time, you can pretty much bet on early failure.

    yeah i bought a Gravely hd60 in 2019. 5000.00 dollars right after i paid for it they informed me that if i didn’t bring it in to have the transaxles serviced at 75 hours for a cost of 375.00 dollars that it would void my 5 year 300 hour warranty . at least i think that was what it was.but that did piss me off that it wasn't mentioned until after i paid for it and i am sure it will cost more by the time i take it in .anyways now its 2022 and it has a whole 18 hours on it. half of that is from mowing my inlaws yard a couple times. my yard it takes me a whole 15 minutes or less to mow. anyone think maybe its a little bit big for my small yard 😆

    Scag Patriot 54" Deck / 23 HP Kawasaki $9,699.00
