I have a 2017 outlaw xp with the Kawasaki fx850 carburetorted. Never had a problem. Best mower I’ve ever owned. I purchased a 2023 rebel with the Kawasaki fx781v EVO. I love it also. Bad boy has never done me wrong. Great mowers…..
I like the honest assessment of the mowers.
This was exactly the video ive been looking for. Great comparison and explanation of the different models. I really like the Maverick HD and the rebel X
GREAT review and comparison! Love BB! have a Maverick and absolutely love it!
The thing I find interesting among all vendors is, as you go up the line, the mowers get taller making it very difficult to get under trees. I have an old Scag Tiger Cub. It is commerical grade but I can get under trees in my yard (after removing the rollover bar years ago). I am just a residential user, but would like commercial quality, but I very much dislike the height of most high-end mowers. I would think this would be a complaint for commercial business users also. I would love to see a good commercial zero turn at the height of the residential models, not to mention that lower center of gravity is also safer on slopes.
Thank you for doing this video. I live in NC. So buying from you wasn't an option for me. But, I took your advice and reached for the 60" ZT Elite. I am thrilled with!!! Thanks again.
Glad I could help!
My friend bought a bad boy last spring, he has been able to use it 3 times, well 2.5. It's been in the shop besides those 3 times. Electrical, transmission and wheel drives.
Excellent video.. Great overview of the full product line
Thanks! Your feedback means a lot.
Thank you for the best descriptive representation I have ever seen with pricing.
Glad it was helpful!
Had to look up your webpage as much time as you spent covering all this equipment lucky you are pretty easy to find on the net . I would put my info in the video on how to get In touch with my company if I was doing as much work as you did on the video ! I thought you were in Howe Tx …Close to me . Not quite ready but definitely considering the Bad Boy line up Thank you for all the info .
Thank you for the informative video! I being a goob lol thought the bigger the engine the faster you go.
Great video
Great video, it really helped me make my decision on which mower to get. I also love Bad Boy's military discount. It's one of the best I've seen.
Great video love my BB
I grew up on a sod farm, mowing grass since I was 7-8yrs old. (61 now) I just don't understand why these companies install a DARK COLORED SEAT!!? I've lived in the Memphis area and a 'ride on' seat only last a couple years, because of the sweat and heat breaks down the cheap vinyl.
I’ve wondered that myself. If only the design people sat on the seat on a hot summer day, I believe they would go to a lighter colored seat !!!
My guess would be, so it hides some stains and discoloration
Light colored seats look bad pretty quickly.
Same thing on motorcycles. Get off for a few moments and seat will scorch your tail. Throw a towel on it.
I'm sure it makes a big difference in hotter climates but here in Ohio, I've never really noticed the big deal. My mower is stored in the garage and I don't get off the mower. I make the rounds of the yard with a bucket and a reacher tool to get all the little branches and such
This was a really good video.
Thanks for the great feedback
Decided to jump in the Zero Turn market and overloaded on YT video reviews. I have 5 flat acres. My local tractor supply had an ZT Elite. Found a BB dealer within 2 hrs and purchased from them got better financing 0/4 yrs. Getting ready for my first cut.
How was the first cut? My dad has a gravely that doesn't mow that great, it leaves grass standing behind. I was apprehensive about getting a zero turn, but I've been researching bad boy for a while.
How was the first cut. About to purchase either avenger 60" or elite 60"
Great Video and makes it easy to compare Bad Boys. Poor Rocky :P , Speaking of rocky; What is your recommendations for a mountain home, with about 2 acres of grass and hidden boulders that mower blades seem to find?
I bought a Maverick HD, it was an easy choice over the Maverick given the upgrades vs cost…
The Bad Boy website shows the prices to be $500-$1000 higher than the prices you listed here..
3:21 MZ Magnum w/ Kohler 54" = $4,619 vs your $4199
4:24 ZT Avenger w/ Kawasaki 60" = $5,719 vs your $5199
5:38 ZT Elite w/ B&S 60" = $6,489 vs your $5899
8:19 Maverick w/ Kohler 60" = $7,549 vs your $6869
10:13 Maverick HD w/ Kawasaki 60" = $9,279 vs your $8429
When I bought my property a couple years ago, it was fall and the only zero turn available to me was a Cub Cadet Ultima ZT2-60. It's actually been a good mower for me so far but I only have about 250 hours on it
I've been considering either the Maverick or the Rogue when I finally decide to upgrade.
Just want to get plenty of use out of the Cub Cadet before I take that depreciation hit. I definitely don't need two
Good, Thx
bring the dog back, he was the best part of the video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Toro and Bad Boy are the two that I am looking at. Would love your opinion on best bang for your buck. Residential 3-4 acres. Flat, but some bumps. Looking at 5-6k area.
2022 badboy Maverick 54" with Kawasaki 726.... no issues..$7900 no interest 4 yr financing, $166 month...getya some
Thanks for the informative video! Do you know if there's any chance they're going to offer the rear discharge on the Rogue with one of the fuel injected engines? Seems like it's something that everyone would like
I cut about 5-7 acres on average. Several steep hills and some rough ground (former crop field). I’m really interested in the Rouge. I’d like to get the 72” Deck , but have been concerned about scalping! Thoughts ?
I got my mower from Russ's Lawn Mower Repair in Martinsburg West Virginia, and they are the best family owned business to deal with. They can match prices or even do a better discount on machines! Rather deal with them than any big dollar stores that deal in all things Bad Boy machines! 10/10 recommended
How’s the Briggs single engine overall for 1-2 acre yard any major issues? I see a time cutter has a twin engine curious if it’s worth it for around the same price. Thank you
So I bought a bad boy magnum over the weekend. I have around 3 acres to mow,it's pretty much a field. 1st cut of the year, too, with plenty of rain. It did really good for the first cut. It was tall grass, and it blew right through it. 3/16 deck with 1/4 inch gussets for support on this model where most are 10 or 7 gauge. The deck didn't move at all compared to say the cub cadet that has around 3 in of play. There's nothing like your deck slapping around when hitting a hole. Solid welds all the way around. May not be commercial but acts like it. The only issue and it's not that big for now is the seat. Could be more cushioned or a spring like the toro timecutter. Built like a tank and made in the USA. I'm more than happy with it and we'll see as the season goes of any issues
That's good to hear, my dad has a gravely that doesn't cut grass very well that's over 7 in tall. I was apprehensive about buying any zero-turn without doing research, and I've been looking at bad boy for a while now. Sometimes my field gets overgrown and I'll be cutting grass well over the hood of my conventional riding mower right now, and it does fine. Just wanted to see how the bad boys are?
Have you looked into getting one of those aftermarket seat suspensions?
@Blindy91 yes. Probably getting springs and set up, then attached to the existing seat. The whole seat with springs, etc. are expensive. I'm still looking around, though
@MrFordguy73 After a couple cuts it's still does very good. One thing I did notice is the choke cable and the throttle cable are very close to the exhaust in the back that over time that plastic coat will cause the cable to melt and gunk up probably stopping the cable from moving altogether. I'll remove that coating up a few inches, hopefully avoiding it. Besides that. Good to go. Still have to know your holes, though. Lol
I'm looking at buying either a magnum or avenger but not sure which I'll get but if the tracs seat suspension kit fits on it I may try it for $180 on amazon
How long did it take you to get to the rogue level? I'm only on the rambler level right now and probably about to level up to the Magnum... can't wait to get to the commercial level one day! Also, am I able to skip levels if I put enough hours on the mower or do I have to go through each one? It's a lot of money and a lot of space to store all my previous level mowers.
Just an FYI, I have the ZT Elite and have the Hydro-gear 3100's. Great video btw
So how do you like it? What motor?
@@Chef-James I replaced a John deer with this one and can attest, the Bad Boy is a beast of a machine. I opted for the Kohler 725cc (25hp) KT740. My buddy who works on small engines said he's seen a few issues with the Kawa's and said the Kohler was the way to go in this one (his opinion of course)..I can't imagine needing more power. This thing zips across my place like no one's business..built like a tank.
This is a great in depth break down. I’m looking at the maverick as I have 2.8 acres of property. Don’t need the HD. Can you order the regular Maverick with the HD seat?
Yes
Bad Boy is a better mower than people give it credit for, I have run mine for my home use for 8 years. replaced 1 starter and deck height adjustment switch. With that being said they need to make some changes to compete with some of the other brands for light commercial use. What we need is wider tires, a manual foot actuated deck height adjustment to raise on the fly, all larger decks should be a floating deck hanging from chains with Anti scalp wheels all around. If they would learn what the industry needs they could boost sales greatly. I am in the market for a stand on right now for smaller yards and hills, I have been looking at the revolt, but it just does meet the requirements to make that mower useable on hills and wet conditions. Skinny small tires are a no sale for me.
Do they offer a tractor type mower? I have hills and banks. Zero turn doesn’t work on that.
I think a lot of us dont need to go faster than 5-8mph while mowing. If I go any faster the frame will split in two from how uneven ground is 😂
Me, watching with a 4 year old hustler raptor sd, with nearly 600h on it, knowing that the zt2800 hydros on it used to be considered commercial, that they have a remote reservoir and filters and can be fully serviced, that my Kawasaki fr651v didn't come with a canister filter but I added one myself...along with a diy foot operated chute lift and even a front mount cooling fan for added comfort. I'd be tempted by the maverick HD because it comes with a 42" deck option, but there are no maverick dealers anywhere near me.
Tractor Supply sells them if that helps
I like Rocky
My parents have about a 25 degree front yard. About 1 acre. Wonder if the rambler would hold up to that. We've been doing it with a cheap old cub cadet riding mower and it's scary haha
Hey man. How does the bad boys do with scalping since it is not on chains like other brands. My dad and I want to give them a try since we have always owned exmark but lately we have been looking into bad boys. Thank you and lord bless you.
They are still floating decks so it should change anything compared to chains for scalping
I always liked the bad boy mowers and bought a new lightning in 2008 that has been a great mower for me as a back up for years, I do commercial mowing and use a scag turf tigers, exmark or hustlers for cut quality , I bought a brand new rogue in 2022 to run but after just a few weeks didnt like it at all, the deck was way to heavy and combersome, it scalped really bad and i quickly traded it and went with another scag and just wasnt pleased with the cut quality ,scalping and how heavy and combersome it was, I wouldnt buy one for commercial mowing but maybe for home owner mowing it may be ok, If it was me buying even as a home owner , hustler is hard to beat with the 5 year warranty.
Can you do a video on a Bad Boy Rouge 54? Thanks
Wow...times have changed. I bought a JD Z960M with suspension seat back in 2016 for around $9,700 with the discount (sticker was around $12k) but now when I check the prices, a 960M is running around $16k. Yikes
But the real question is..how is Bad Boy's customer service and warranty? From what ive been reading, its not very good. Id like the Rogue from my farm..but this concerns me. Great job on the video !!
@sammiskie1127 Spoken like a wise man! I agree, how is the customer service and warranty service?
ok, but Toro vs Bad Boy, which are you buying?
I chose the Ariens IKON 48".
How do you like it? I was checking that one out as well.
will you make a review over toro's 2024 lineup?
Yes
Nice machine, wish they sold them in the Buffalo area.
How much for the rogue out the door price?
Do you ship to Hawaii?
in terms of cutting, how thick of grass can these rigs cut before the engine bogs out
I just bought a zt elite 54 inch and cutting rather tall mildly thick grass it handled it fine cutting with 1/2 the deck width cutting the same area with a johndeere 990 36hp tractor and 6 foot bush hog brand cutter I could only use 2/3 of the cutter but also cutting higher up so over all im very happy with the zt elite
I have a Spartan SRT XD Vanguard 32HP with oil guard 61" deck full suspension and it's a beast on WV hills
Parker 16cc drives and mow 15 acers of my own land every week 165 hours on it zero issues. Oh! 7 gauge fabricated deck not 3 gauge $12k with lights canopy foot break and manual lever arm chute rear hitch. Bad boy is just a boy
7 gauge is less than 3 gauge FYI
@howeequipment I stand corrected but that's isn't 1/4" mowing deck.
@@rickvann3489 it is
@@howeequipment why? These things already weigh 1100 pounds.
Do they have a dealership close to poplarville ms?
Ranchland tractor saucier Mississippi highway 49 South
Does Bad boy have a powerflow bagging system?
Yes
Did you fail to mention the Honda engines or did they discontinue offering them? Last fall I bought a Bad Boy Maverick HD, air seat, 60" deck with a Honda EFI engine. My only complaint is it sits so tall it limits the slope one can mow and feel safe. Bad Boy, please offer a low boy model for mowing on a slope. Your presentation is wonderful!!
Im confused between elite magnum etc
I wish I could upgrade my cub cadet to a bad boy.
I'll stick with my Husqvarna MZ54 with the hydro gear 3100. It doesn't have that hefty price tag . Other than that nice video.
Those are nice mowers for the money
I can't really justify (Besides price points) buying anything but a Walker. Walker super bee discharge or the baggers are hard to beat.
The ZT elite has zt3100 does it not?
It does
What do you recommend a ZT elite or a Toro Titan? (Cost not considered)
You would be good either way.
I just looked at these at tractor supply-none had a Kawasaki engine, just Kohler 7000.
Same in VA. Obv if you can find a dealer in your area, they have multiple engine and deck configs on the lot plus they have multiple financing options compared to TS.
Check out river valley tractor....they get all 3 engine styles
Ya, I'm in AZ and we have hardly any choices here. The only Bad Boy here is at Tractor Supply and its just the Magnum with Kohler and ZT2200's.
Only one shop in the whole valley has a couple Hustlers and the salesman/service is horrible. The guy in the video is wrong though. ZT 2800's are serviceable.
A mower without a floating deck is useless in my opinion. Bring the chains back. The electric deck height adjustment is also useless unless your blowing off concrete.
Where is dealer 14:24
I recently purchased a brand new Maverick FS730 motor with a 54-inch deck. However, I've encountered a persistent issue: there's a constant stripe between the center blade and the blade on the non-chute side. Despite my efforts to resolve this by replacing the blades, checking the spindles, ensuring the deck is level, installing the new blades correctly, inflating the tires to the recommended pressure, and putting on a new belt, the problem persists after 200 hours of use.
The mower has been to the local repair shop twice in the past month, each time for a week, but they couldn't identify the issue. I mow at the tallest setting on dry, moderately long grass. I've done everything short of replacing the spindles, which appear to be tight and in good condition.
I'm starting to believe this mower is cursed. If you doubt my experience, try calling Bad Boy Mowers directly and ask for technical support. The only guy handling support is clueless. Is this the kind of service you expect after spending thousands on a mower? I'm referring to the manufacturer, Bad Boy Mowers, not just a dealer or parts distributor.
I feel like I need to clean it up and sell it to someone else, just as I was duped into buying it. Honestly, they should drop the "Boy" from their name-it would be more fitting.
Have you checked the clearance on the blades to see if you can put a slightly longer blade on it? Maybe there's just no blade reaching that small strip of cutting area
Dave, I have a 60" gravely commercial, the lower the cut the better, cut high = low quality.
I wish so bad that Bad Boy Company would have a maximum deck height beyond 4.5 inches. Many people including myself likes to have grass cut at 5 1/2 inches especially in summer heat to keep the fescue healthy & green all year , but 4.5 inches is the highest the Bad Boy than 4.5 inches is the Scag with Mowers will cut. Really hate that. The only mower I know that can cut beyond 4.5 inches is the Scag Mower to 6 inches.
If you got good tall fescue, and happen to be wet and you cut it at height of 3.5 to 4.0 inches, you lawn is totally destroyed. Again, I wish so bad that Bad Boy Mowers would at least have maximum deck height to 5 1/2 inches !!!!
I wanted to buy the Rambler last year but the engine is what made me buy my Cub Cadet. As soon as they make a Kawasaki V- twin an option or better yet standard I will buy one! I'm sorry but a single piston Briggs, no thanks.
I also wish they put a Kawasaki as an engine option on the rambler
@@howeequipment Nice to see I'm not alone.
Wish I could afford one......I can just put food on the table and pay the bills....been trying to barter for a lawn tractor.
He is NOT a bad dog. Poor thing. Good video regardless
I just need a 25HP and 60” deck minimum
I know for a fact any and all brands with a roll bar on it... Is a commercial mower..
THATS A BAD MFER
...also, what's with the LACK of a LED light bar? Not a flashlight bar. A LIGHT BAR!!
I deleted my parking brake 😅
With all of the Bad Boy informational video out no one ever speaks to the cut quality.
The bad boy rogue has 16cc pumps!? Are you kidding me! Should've least had 21cc pumps for a big mower like that
Scag gets by with 16. So does spartan. You can want more but it's definitely not an "are you kidding me" moment.
@@stephenhodge6441 pumps won't last long struggling to push that heavy mower around
@@TNsher776 even the toro 7500 with the 96" deck uses a 16. Are you saying all those companies (and I could easily add more) all have an inferior pump that should have been bigger? I mean seriously these are units that are used for commercial use and seem to be doing just fine.
@@stephenhodge6441 yes, they should use 21 cc bumps like Hustler Super Z have. Those mowers are heavy, they easily weigh around 1,400 lbs
Just say no to Briggs and Stratton!
Badboy vs Bradley…..
do not buy a mower with one cylinder period,Our lawn mower dealer quit selling them because they would not honor the warranty
Kawasaki is the only engine I will run.!!! BAD BOY has the opportunity to compete in the commercial market but the focus too much on looks a deck steel while overlooking what we need to get a quality cut. Speed is useless without cut quality it is a mower not a drag car!! They are missing what is needed!!
I own most of them for my lawn care business, and I hate to say it but the Magnum out mows all of them. Stay away from the Maverick.
See what om saying
Where's the Revolt you guys are missing out on alot of money in NC
No riding mower is worth the kind of money these companies are asking.
These are as bad if not worse than
Farm tractor prices. If you want to do business you gotta spend money to make money and NOT pass everything on to the consumer.
Wages are way behind inflation!
Why are you yelling?
If trans not service able walk off
That is as cheap peace of junk and will not last long enough to pay for it 😢😢😢
If it's hand built, it's serviceable...... guaranteed....only poonannys who can't work on anything want the babysitting from a dealership 😅
Cutting Blades can only Go so Fast on any Lawnmower, Excessive Motion Speed Reduces the Quality of Cut from any Lawnmower--period....
I have a ZT Elite with 3100 series serviceable trans. I sometimes find myself out driving my blades. But I like to double cut anyway so as to push my excessive grass clippings in 1 direction. My first pass is good with just a few sprigs sticking up, but my second pass is awesome with a perfect cut. Plus I also mulch the leaves and debris down to dust and have little to nothing to rake up and haul off. I do like only having to pick up a trash can full max instead of loading my whole trailer up with leaves and grass clippings, like I've done in the past.
Nah, I'd much rather have a Spartan
Why
Appealing to immature 30something suburbanites by giving equipment an immature brand name strikes me as focusing on the wrong things. I bought a John Deere Z950M instead.
I had a bad boy total junk. All china made parts. Plastic everywhere
