the size of those header tubes is amazing! when it showed that prostock engine with the tunnel ram. I was looking at those welds, and I thought it must've been done by robot or cnc. then it showed the guy not only doing the welding by hand, but stick welding by hand!! that is a talented craftsman!! I've always wanted to have a hand built tunnel ram. not only do they make a ton of power, but they just look damn good!!!
A single cylinder of that 1000ci engine has more displacement then the entire engine in my little Toyota commuter, twice the horsepower, and nearly twice the torque.
Thank you Sonny’s! I got my 1005CI last year. I’ve just got it into my Chevelle. I can’t wait to get it tuned. I’m betting I’m going to get at least 1,500 HP at the wheels.
Sane SONNY's Hemi Heads that Nelson Racing Engines uses on his 702 CU. Pump Gas Warrior and gets 1125 HP. on 91 Octane Gas.. A GREAT PIECE of ""SONNY'S RACING WORKMANSHIP""
Dear Sonny's Race engines.. Exactly where do we go from here ? Today we use CAD to design ultra alloy billet blocks . Mega huge Once Holley Dominator type split carbs, head's a computer designed and built...Can you recall when Da Grump unleashed his 331 in tunnel rammed small block vega and then proceeded to clean up the Pro-stock field and his entire car With extra motor valued at 50 K . Now tell Me Sir how Much of a chance does a race team have to win anything when the cost plus spare Race motor could be purchased with with 50K today ? So You, Pro-Line .and all the rest of the Ultra high dollar race engine guys can keep em ..I'm still NOT going to mortgage my home to buy a motor that a spare set of heads is equal to my daughters year in college .. sorry .. Nice Cad work though ... Props to you
It's crazy! 10 years from now think about how cheap it'll be to build a 1200hp+ engine! It's already pretty cheap but we are just getting more efficient and making more power at a crazy rate!
NELSON RACING ENGINES IS LIGHT YEARS AHEAD OF YOU, Nelson racing engines fixed a engine that you built for me! P.s if you leave your car with them don't be surprised if parts come up Missing off your car!!!
Sure, that's why they've been in business for over 30+ year. It's because they steal useless junk from customers cars. What did they steal your 1986 FuzzBuster?
WOW! I have a dream of building a 32 Ford 3 Window Coupe on an all tube Chassis and running 6.00 ET 1/4 mile. I want to do that as part of the standing mile at Bonneville. I will be consulting with these guys if I ever get the money....
that's gotta be the dumbest statement I've read on the web. 1. stupid for trying to go that fast in an antique chassis. 2. stupid for spending $30k for an engine to do what a $12k big block crate from Jeg's would do.
A push rod engine is the fastest car on planet earth... a push rod engine holds the record for most power and torque then any other engine on planet earth. Even the forced induction multiple valves multiple turbos engines can't compete. With the old ass push rod engine. Lol tech isn't shit when size doesn't matter.
I've bought some stuff from Sonny, way back when he had his downtown shop. I drive right by his current shop on the way to work. He does some incredible stuff, but you can't walk out of that place without dropping $40K. LOL
IHRA mountain motor is not the same as NHRA top fuel or Pro Stock. You can also run other classes with these monsters that are not determined by displacement.
ummm this is way old but not as old as t he video which says 2005 several times.(still making it 9 years older than your post if you had watched and listened)
As a film maker and photographer......yes, the video quality is absolutely awful. It says published in 2013......did they film it with a flip phone from 2005?
hello I apologize leave in advance this is a google translation thank you for your understanding. I have a question is it possible to put one of your sonny's 2000 horsepower 2100 mbps of torque engines in a cadilliac suv-series-v 2023 thank you good end of the day
Ok, you want to play? Let's do the math. 60psi = (Airflow (lb/min) * 639.6 * (460 + 130 (guess at intake manifold temp))) / (.98 (Voumetric efficiency) * (7700 (rpm) / 2) * 1005 (cu in)) Solve for airflow, get 603 lb/min, which is VERY stout...maybe 10x what you would see for a modest street-strip car. 603 = HP * 11.5 (air/fuel ratio) * 0.55 (brake specific fuel consumption) / 60 Solve for HP, get 5720 hp. Whee! Now let's see if we can find a turbo to boost to 60 psi. Assume we lose 4 psi in plumbing losses getting from the turbo to the motor, and assume we lose 1 psi getting the air into the turbo. Pressure ratio = (60 + 4) / (14.7 -1) = 4.67 (pretty high, but you did specify 60 lb of boost). You do know there is no such thing as a turbo with a 120mm inducer, at least not in racing, right? You mean a 120mm exducer? I don't have good data for a 120mm exducer. How about a 94mm inducer and a 133mm exducer? Bigger is better, right? Alas, I can only get about 210 lb/min out of one of those at a pressure ratio of 4.67:1. You'd need at least 3 of them! Although it's usually not good to flow fewer than 3 cylinder into one turbo, it looks like quad turbos it is. 603/4 = about 151 lb/min per turbo. From the Garrett catalog, I would suggest a GTX5533R GEN II, with the 91mm inducer and the 133mm exducer, just about right. And you need 4 of them, one for each corner. Figure out how to hook it up, should smoke a Top Alcohol Dragster. No match for a Funny Car, though.
Ford is shit.. and lots of companies and manufacturers have used the Hemi head design it wasn't exclusive to Chrysler or Dodge and it was not invented by them it has been around since 1902 everyone has used it
alvie2 5000 c.i wouldn't fit in a car. You can buy a 70 yr old Spitfire or Mustang(P51 not the car) engine at 1650-ish c.i V12 with superchargers and fit it to a car(3 people already have done that), if you want bigger, but that won't give you more horsepower cause these new drag engines are more efficient. There is an old custom car with a 2563 c.i engine but again, its obsolete and the engine is 70% of the car. This is the largest engine in the world, in reduced form even(not the 14 cylinder one in the pic), it can get longer, but it gives a good indication of size, i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/18ogpou9tup35jpg.jpg (the 14 cyl version is 1.5 mio c.i)

It would seem like a very limited market for engines costing 50 to 100 grand. The investment you have in high tech CNC machines and the people who run them must be enormous. I could understand the investment if you were one of a couple hundred machine shops in the US, but you are one of thousands who make claims of spectacular drag race engine performance. This can't be a hobby or an avocation for you unless you inherited enough money to play the engine building game and still eat three squares a day. Only the best funded car teams would be able to afford to blow one of your engines a month and still continue racing since there are only so many advertisers that see a value in their brand being painted on the side of a drag car. Always have wondered how that works.
Chevrolet showed up in 63 with the Mark III mystery motor and was asked to park it. Ford copied the Hemi idea and was not allowed to run it in NASCAR. Pontiac came up with tunnel port style heads in RA V but nothing really ever took off. The SD heads did well enough. But Chrysler was allowed to run, and run they did. Ever wonder why that was? I won't deny the Hemi design is the best head for making power, but that was not the original idea behind a hemispherical combustion chamber. Think about what would have become of Chrysler without that innovation?

2005 video. Can you get a new video in at least 380p
what if you twin turbo twin 120mm turbo 60psi
will it break gravity
carlos velasco why twin. why not quad 102s
Why quad? Make it octa, 1 per cylinder.
Because that plumbing would be hell.
it would break the engine at least.
Ok, you want to play? Let's do the math.
60psi = (Airflow (lb/min) * 639.6 * (460 + 130 (guess at intake manifold temp))) / (.98 (Voumetric efficiency) * (7700 (rpm) / 2) * 1005 (cu in))
Solve for airflow, get 603 lb/min, which is VERY stout...maybe 10x what you would see for a modest street-strip car.
603 = HP * 11.5 (air/fuel ratio) * 0.55 (brake specific fuel consumption) / 60
Solve for HP, get 5720 hp.

603/4 = about 151 lb/min per turbo.
From the Garrett catalog, I would suggest a GTX5533R GEN II, with the 91mm inducer and the 133mm exducer, just about right. And you need 4 of them, one for each corner.
