I loved the adaptation with Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens the most. It went more into depth about Rochesters back story and the chemistry between them was so beautiful.
I think Mia Wasikowska delivers this famous speech best! Passionate without being theatrical. Poetic without being pretentious. :)
What a fantastic compilation you made there! It's interesting that every Jane actresses have their own way to express their passion towards Mr. Rochester. Some looked anguished while others were frustrated.
My favorite is the 2006 adaptation with Ruth Wilson and Toby Stephens. 😊

My favorite film 1991
I like the 1983 adaptation but one thing about it that irks me a lot is the fact that they show Rochester and not Jane at this (very important) moment.
And he looks so full of himself, as if he was sure the would accept right away.
One could easily think he looks smug in this scene, I personally chose to interpret it as happiness because Jane is finally speaking her affection for him:)
1996 is my favorite
The 1997 version is close to replacing my love for Joan Fontaine & Orson Wells. The actors names I don't remember but they were wonderful.
The wonderful Ciaran Hinds and Samantha Morton, who also plays the terrifying Alpha in The Walking Dead.

Ruth Wilson is giant not little for me.
I think Zeffirelli chose the best possible actress: Gainsborough. Fontaine is a good actress but ridicolously beautiful. Some of the other actresses look too old. Rochester should NOT be beautiful, too. I love Hinds but...that moustache...😢 So maybe Welles is quite ok after all.
