Frayed Ends Of Sanity has enough riffs in it to be it's own medley
Pj harwood it technically is
That bridge before the solo is just to fucking good.
Frayed medley
i believe this medley is called Frayed Ends of Sanity
Are you dumb frayed ends of sanity is a single song
They NEED this sound back! Guitar and drums sound heavy as FUCK!
Hello me from 5 years ago, still waiting for that sound to come back...

-hells yeah. i loved remembering my childhood and listening to my taped copy of metallica's A.J.F.A
In my opinion, San diego 92 is 2 lines of cocaine shorter than Seattle 89
Inspectah Death Hahaha Funny that’s exactly what I was thinking. Truth is this and Seattle 89 hands down are their best concerts...
Haha so accurate
you right sir
Splitilla absolutely disagree san diego is better
Whats with all the coke comments, ive done it in tons. Im of it now, its nothing to be glamorized. It leaves you in ruins
Eye of Beholder sounded fucking great.
Heck yea dude. They should play it live for a video
Sounds heavier at that tempo, man
Yeaaahhh!!! And it's one of my favourites of all AJFA album!
Heavy AF. E standard.
So heavy
1:24 Eye of the Beholder
2:30 Blackened (2nd half)
3:26 Frayed Ends
4:14 And Justice
8:12 Blackened (1st half)
It really pides me off they didn’t include shortest straw or dyers eve, or even harvester. I understand why they didn’t To live is to die but still man. ;-;
Thanks!
Federico Noguera harvester is played after creeping death so they would play it 2 times this show
Justice power
You forgot the best part. 7:14 James and Jason headbanging together. That Jameson moment is rare to see and it's gold. It had to be mentioned🤣🤘🏻🤘🏻
2:49 Thats how you handle your instrument like a boss!
Teemu T I want a gif of that now so bad

Were you acting like a maniac?

3:26 I broke the door to my room. that riff is revolutionary.
I would willingly press my face against that amplifier to FEEL that power.
The tone of the E Chord James plays at 1:01 is literally the heaviest thing ever
they need that sound back. Would be interesting how they get such a live sound back then
Thank mesa boogie and diezel amps and thank God for putting that right hand on Earth. It's like a sledgehammer hitting a piece of steel.
I think that’s a B4 chord. Sounds like an E5 but without the low E.
Compression, baby.
@@dyerseve45 I think it also the noise gate giving this fast attack
When the solo stopped and James started playing the 7/8 Blackened riff, it literally sent shivers down my spine.
his tone during that part cuts like a mf.
I love how at the end Jason is playing Moby Dick..... what a legend.
We're in 2023, Frayed Ends of Sanity has only been played 12 TIMES live (unbelievable), and Eye of the Beholder has never been played live after 1989 (even more unbelievable).
Metallica, time to bring back some old shit in your upcoming dates of this (amazing) 72 Season tour!
Metallica taught me what music is, I had no clue until I listened to them the first time.
It feels like i was deaf before i started listening to them, and with their music i was truely musically reborn!! 🙂 (no joke here)
I listened to this and saw this when I was 18, I'm 36. This medley is a masterpiece and will always be
It's the fucking best.
Man, you're 40 years old now)
I saw this in concert in Sacramento just a few days before this San Diego show and I was 17 and it was fucking awesome!
@@goldenshark3182 u lucky shit
@@gta290785 Shit he's 41 now
I really like this album, for me is the best of Metallica, the people said, master, but the sound of Justice is really hard, so strong, so deep, soooo fuking Trassssssshhhhhh.
I agree this album was killer still love it
The sound of Justice is lost, is raped, is gone.
Pulling your strings, the sound of Justice is done.
Master sounds so much better, such a great tone, a great sound. I like Justice to, its fucking trash all the wayy, but the sound on the album... ughh.
Rick Koole are you using trash in a good way? I’m confused on what you mean because the way you worded it
@@reemsreg Yeah i'm Dutch, sorry. But i mean it in a good way man! Sic album
TAKE me BACK !!!
i am only 18... I would die for a live show in the 90s !!!
Same, I was born in the wrong generation.
I remember way way before UA-cam or the "fast" internet, using dial up to play Diablo 1 and 2. Then Napster and limewire came and I download bunch of this stuff. Then went to BestBuy and bought THIS on Vhs. Good times...
@@timothee865 I got the live shit binge and purge box set in 1996 when I was 13 years old. Spent my bday money 💰 to get it it was like 90 bucks for the vhs version as the DVD version didn't exist yet and that was alot of money for a 13 year old in 1996. Took all my birthday money that year but it was well worth it. Loved these dudes then and still do.
This should be an option for the By Request Tour... I'm also disappointed in some of the set lists people voted for. They didn't take advantage of being able to pick the songs Metallica will never dust off on their own. I really wanted to hear Eye of the Beholder in its entirety! And so many other songs they never play from garage or load/reload
Yes, a lot of people want, but most of people vote for the same songs(sandman, puppets, one), and don't pick good-rare songs(until it sleeps, breadfan, dyers eve included, eye of the beholder)
I thought it was just me. I would definitely pick songs they don't usually play, it saddens me that 99% of songs played on the tour are all the same. I'd definitely pick Eye of the Beholder and some Load/Reload
Frayed ends of Sanity was picked tho
FEOS is my fav 'Tallica song, so brutal and "technical"... and raw at the same time... and the guitar tone, the fuckin' vocals, oh man... the version with enhanced bass fixes the only problem I had with it (not enough bass)
the memory remains
We need "DeathWired" medley
Or Hardmagnetic
LOL
Load ReLoaded medley
Lulu medley?
St. ReLoad
Jason’s backing vocals are god like ,Find it so GRIM!!! So TRUE ! So REAL!!!!!
Eye of the Beholder is the most underrated Metallica song, and one of the heaviest.
Yes, and shortest straw doesn’t get the love it deserves
Eye of the beholder and Damage Inc!!!
Metallica really need to bring back Jason. Iron Maiden were once of the first bands to have three lead guitarists, whats to stop a band having 2 bassists Rob and Jason..would be awesome. Both have their own qualities.
Iain Marchant it's not that they don't want him, he just had own shit to deal with now
Iain Marchant I agree totally with you! 🤘
Double low end is james worst nightmare...
Only jason is good
"HE FOCKIN LEFT THE BAND!"
Bass! Must be why At 6:51-6:52 James realized Jason had got there first and turned up his bass amp!!!
they should have a songs barely played tour, plus the favorites, that be cool
Ya i always thought they should do a rarities tour
---plays in Europe for it----
The tone in this Show is indescribable
1989-1992 Metallica was built different
Did James Hetfield downpick Eye Of The Beholder?
Jan Mark D. Gestuveo that guy is insane at downpicking
Well the song was slowed down a little bit. But when they played it in original tempo in other concerts, my man James still downpicked the song! What a beast he is!
Let’s be honest here there’s no song that James can’t downpick he’s one of the best Rhythm Guitarists out there James would probably be able to down pick a solo
There is more control of the string when you downpickin, you attak stronger and the sound tourn heavier, of course it need a lot of practice but the result is very good, after that you feel can play all songs downpickin 😆
@@danieldonoso5371 ya man I can downlink shortest straw at a slightly low tempo "really slight"
Here you can hear the BASS and its so fucking heavy 😁
This crowd is the luckiest ever
No dyers eve, harvester of sorrow, one, to live is to die D:
+AlphaCureMom agree 100% +
AlphaCureMom I also agree, it would be beyond awesome.
+Gaelpo | Geometry Dash & More! i dont know about the others but they however they played ONE live.
Harvester and One were already in the set list, Dyers Eve and To Live is to Die never debuted live till some 20+ years later.
ZackerTheScar Actually, they played some bits of to live is to die on Seattle '89 and I don't remember where in '93
Man! Jason is great!
They played justice medley for about a year after releasing the black album. They stopped playing the justice medley as it wasn’t new anymore. They chose to do a medley because the songs were too long and they noticed the fans getting bored with the length of the songs. The idea of the guitar sound stems from James wanting to play drums on guitar, that is why this shit is so heavy. James explains it in this interview ua-cam.com/video/1Eq9RVKT9XQ/v-deo.html
roughly 7:30 if you don't wanna watch it all trough, but then again, why wouldn't you listen to the Might Het speaking
How anyone could get bored on the songs on AJFA is beyond me. Best shit they ever wrote
@@tomzadvydas1758 metal, especially more complex metal. Is not palatable too MOST. It’ll always be underground. So most people get bored I get both sides but these medleys are a badass way to get a lot of songs in

1. All 1988 to 89 tour
2. 1986 tour
3.1992 tour. The best badass tours of their marvelous music career!! 🤘 🤘

7:14 -7:21 my favorite part.
That double bass in blackened part!!! 🤘🤘🤘⚡⚡⚡
Jason’s energy is unmatched
Nobody is going to talk about Jason playing Moby Dick in the end of the video? LOL so good
My favorite Metallica medley ever
God, after all these years that transition from the AJFA solo into blackened still gives me the chills. Metallica in they’re fucking prime!
Drum sound around this era was much more heavy and solid!
Fuck man, the guitar tone here is goddamn crushing.
The part where Jason and James are jamming together smiling from 7:13-7-21 is so wholesome for me, it's shots like these from the tours that really makes me believe that the hazing was blown out of proportion by the fans.
Super true!
It was blown out of proportion but it was mostly in the last 20 years since Jason left the band all these Johnny come lately internet heroes behind the keyboard that love Jason and wanna dis on Metallica for treating him so badly! Lol. I never heard anything like that back in the day. Yes they hazed him quite a bit in the beginning I think mostly because they didn't properly grieve cliffs death but just kept working and touring etc. That caused them to resent Jason and caused the hazing. It wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out and by this era they were pretty good friends and were interviewed together alot and seemed to get along well.
@@midnight347 bro wrote a whole ass essay 💀
I don't know what I'd do without Metallica in my life 🤘🏼🖤
💪🏻
That fuckin bass in eye of the beholder 🔥🔥🔥
Eye of the Beholder is such a strong fuckin song. It needs played in its entirety live from now on. The song actually means more now than ever.
It was Def ahead of its time. The mark of a good song is that it's timeless and is good and you can find meaning in it in any generation and many Metallica songs are like that especially that one. Eye of the beholder ftw!!!!
When it comes to heavy metal music, Metallica is the first thing that came across into my mind. Thank you Metallica for the music, living legend!!!
wish they did eye of the beholder a bit more
God I love this album.... it's my favorite... so fucking heavy!! Metallica is the best!
GOD Jason Newsted 🤘😎🤘
There's not a single song amongst any of the albums that fails to please me, this includes St. Anger too.
Suraj Sharma You're easily pleased
@@arvindhmani06 or maybe you don't have the depth to fully explore the essence of these songs?
No, st anger is their only bad album. The song itself is ok but the rest of the album I can't enjoy.
Lulu?
At the time Lars was getting big help from Pablo Escobar to keep his drumming abilities intact.
Dude was snorting ounzes in one line man

The transition of And Justice For All to Blackened is just AMAZING
I never get enough of this medley
best sound quality among medley videos..
this is in mono
This concert sound mix is incredible.james guitar is one of the heaviest thing ive ever heard.
Frayed Ends Of Sanity was James just fucking with people that make tabs. There's more riffs than years I been alive.
Concert in '92 uploaded in 2014 and we still like, comment and get excited on 2019... Freaking Legends!!!
Goddamn I miss this energy
We all do. They were the shit back then. Still love them, but if they could have stayed like this noone could touch them!
I was at this show and this was one of the best parts. Best concert ever! 10/10
I like and prefer the Justice medley over the Justice song... it sounds awesome when they breakdown the song and go into the frayed ends of sanity intro. Frayed and the blackened riffs are so epic.
Nice to hear these songs with bass.
Hetfield’s picking hand is unreal
And god damn listen to that fuckin tone
1:22
And justice for all album is criminally underrated ... James had his best riffs ever on the whole album ... every song is a masterpiece ... maybe not live friendly though because they're very long ... but very well crafted
my favorite album but they are not just james rifs. and dont forget lars with his arrangement
It’s criminal they don’t play more of the Justice tracks live
And Justice for All...underrated? Quit making up nonsense.
hardly I hear praise to it, similar to the first three albums@@Shadovox
damn i love this one album 10 mins song
Este de San Diego y el de Seatlle los mejores!!! Todavia tengo el Baúl que sacaron de estos 2 conciertos intactos, Amor por METALLICA!!!
Look how heavy Eye of the Beholder sounds with proper bass mixing. Man and people dare say Jason is a bad bassist.
the metal ive seen by metallica since woodstock 99 and live binge and purge 89
Loved metallica then. And love metallica now . Best band in the world. Gotta say I have this box set on cd/dvd now. But played the shit out of the videotapes back in the day . Great nostalgia that never gets old.
Best metallica album by a fu**** mile !
This album is masterpiece of Metal riffs !!! Would love to see you guys playing again this medley during the M72 Tour 🤘. See you next year in Paris 🇫🇷
That is actually a good idea since it ain't been played in damn near 30 years and they don't play alot of justice stuff live these days because of how long the songs are and other reasons as well.
