The bells, the bells... 😄😄But what a rich sound, if only it hadn't interrupted you Phil. Halifax is such a solid and traditional sort of town. Fabulous architecture. I once paid a brief visit during a tour of Yorkshire, so it was so nice to be reminded, and it made me want to return to enjoy more. I'd happily have my last tango here!

My mother came from Halifax we went 2 or 3 times a year until 1972 when I was 15 I have many relations there I’ve not seen in 50 years (only surname I remember is Grady) who I’d love to meet again. I’m 67 now and need to make at least one trip back there before I die. Thank you for the video!

I lived in HX for 20+ years before moving to the "Gateway to the Cotswolds" Burford in Oxfordshire ,My working life started by being a trainee Chef in the mayors parlour in the town hall then after a few years moved to new job in Dean clough just as it was being turned into a arts and business centre by Sir Ernest Hall and family , have some great memory's of the nightlife in my younger years it was once known to have more pubs per sq. mile than Blackpool

We have a City of Halifax in Nova Scotia, Canada that was established in 1749. Halifax was named for George Montagu, the 2nd Earl of Halifax. I wonder if people took the time to stop and enjoy their surroundings back in the day.

Yes, there are a few Halifax's around the world. I'm sure there were those who were impressed by the grandeur of the buildings when they were built, as that's what it was all about, impressing your peers and outdoing your competitors, but I suspect not for those who worked 12 hour days from 6 years of age. But there's no denying we were very impressed. 🤠😎🐼

Thanks so much 😊. I really enjoyed how much you appreciated these beautiful buildings. I was especially interested in the church where the stone is very degraded with the spire they thought might topple. 97mph wind sounds scary. I’ve been to Halifax but I think I missed enjoying it in the way you have so I plan to go again and look at all the lovely details in the architecture.

I'm a week late watching this, Phil, but I did make a point to do so because Canada has its own Halifax. Ours, unfortunately, doesn't have any buildings going back to the 17th century. In fact, much of the city was decimated by the great explosion of December 6th, 1917. I really enjoyed seeing all the beautiful arcades, storefronts, and architecture. You both have a way of bringing it all to life. You certainly picked the perfect day to do your vlog. 🤩😁 See you again soon. 😘🤗💖👍👋

Yes, there are a few Halifax towns in the world Noralee. We love visiting the town when we're in Yorkshire, and as you say, we were so fortunate to have such nice winter sun while filming the amazing buildings. Thanks you for your encouragement, it means a lot to know that our presentation helps to bring what we see to life for you. All the best and as always thanks for watching 🤠🙂🐼

Love Halifax, I live there for nearly 4years. It was home from home with the valley views. Still go back to see friends. Was you told about the hidden street above the market. Although I think it’s mostly empty now.

We love Halifax too Pat. We didn't know about the hidden street, but there was a lot of scaffolding all around the market when we popped in. 🤠😎🐼

Do they still have service in the church ? An thanks for the tour of this town . I wish I had the money to take a trip to th UK cause this is one place I,d like to visit .

No, sadly the church is no longer used as a place of worship Barbara, but one of our viewers told us that the trust responsible for the upkeep do open it occasionally, and they did go inside, where all the pipes from the organ were laid out on the floor ready for restoration. They also said they were surprised to see all the beautiful decoration on the pipes. We're so glad you can join us as we tour, thanks for watching. 🤠😎🐼
