Less than 1 week after playing tears in heaven on my seagull acoustic for my beloved grandmother on her deathbed I got to see Eric perform it on stage in Boston. Needless to say, there were a lot of tears from me in both instances. Thank you Eric for the gift you’ve given the world!
I'm sorry, but what a soothing moment at a difficult time-for your grandmother and then later for yourself. I've lost a daughter to death when she was 13, but before that Conor died and I cried as if he were my own. One of the most tragic things to happen. Eric is a humble person. Life has humbled him and for the sadness of all that he's been through, he is really just a good guy.
Great to see Eric doing so well, a true legend!
he went crazy and is one of the most if not THE most overrated guitarists of all time, hes an anti-vax nut and a bigot
Agree 150%!!
Truly a career like no other. Unmatched
Just saw him front row at Madison Square garden last year. He hasn’t lost a step at all. Fantastic show.
Eric, you look much happier! You look better as well. You were most privileged to see this icon when I’d heard last no more shows.
Sadly due to Eric’s inability to play anymore bc of advanced arthritis in the hands. Perhaps. You took a break from music. I love him being happy talking anything music his face lights up like Christmas Day, add on a new guitar.gifted. Kindly to him.
Here’s a kind humble appreciative man,
I notice stuff so I love your laugh….😅
Your the one of the best but still cas dressed axe players icon!
Eric is so down to earth and still like a young boy at Christmas when presented with something new and shiny. What a true legend and gent.
His smile says it all!
Yes❤
Yes he was very gracious I thought.
You obviously haven't read his biography. Anyone else think the guitar action isn't quite right.
I love when he Tell's stories from his past...... A True Legend there will never be another like him we are very blessed to have him in our lifetime......
Exactly
❤yed
Eric is truly amazing,, how I wish I could sit on a couch and just have a conversation with him!! Thank you Eric for everything!
Éric Speaking about Bobby Withlock and the fact that this song is beautiful is priceless !
« Thorn tree in the garden »
Eric refused to give Bobby Whitlock songwriting credits for 1/2 of "Bell Bottomed Blues" until Bobby read him the riot act. Clapton also refuses to admit that it was Rita Coolidge, not that psycho drummer who wrote the coda to Layla. She'd recorded it before she played it to him, and Bobby is on record stating the she wrote it. One should never give too much credence to an admitted wife rapist that Clapton has been.
Huge sonic jump from the D28 to the D45.
Eric Clapton is awesome and he looks well. Ive always loved him.
The last concert my little brother and me got to attend together was a Crossroads Concert in Dallas yrs ago . Was sure he would make it thru the because of his health .But he did and had a blast . He passed a couple of months after the show . But that day and your music gives me one of the best memories of him . Thank You Sir . And thank you Guitar Center . Hope Mr Clapton sees this 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Im so happy to hear Eric talk about Derek and the dominos and Bobby Whitlock and how powerful he is and i hope we will see a reunion while Eric and Bobby are still in beautiful shape and we can enjoy it!i believe Bobby is waiting for that call Eric!!
I wonder if Eric has seen Bobby and CoCo`s channel. Maybe he has and finds he starts to cringe at some of those tales from olden days. Bobby doesnt hold back about much. lol
Anyone in his right mind who even once heard Eric´s playing with Bluesbreakers let alone Cream doesnt give a flying shlt about those Dominos. He´s got it right the first time and thats all. Anyway, good to see him in such a great shape 🤩 and his political views are spot on.. he should have never had apologized for anything he said. He stands tall, no wokeish gibbering 😍
Bobby Whitlock has witnessed that Clapton owes Rita Coolidge for the Coda to Layla and she's now having to sue him to get her due. Clapton's clueless as a human being, and Whitlock had to threaten to sue him to get him to admit that Whitlock had written half of "Bell Bottom Blues". These days Clapper just wants to take the world's best vaccines away from the populace. I don't wanna hear another f*cking word out of him about Coca*ne!!!!
@@tomasvanecek8626 don't totally agree with you the Cream is amazing!the beano album set the bar for blues rock tone agreed there!however imo the Layla album is regarded as his best solo album and I tend to agree! Definitely better than his other 70's and 80's albums overall though I love his tone out of the Fender tweed amps and Hyde Park...but song wise the dominos record is up there but I am more of a cream ,blindfaith ,blues breaker era fan but I like Eric throughout his career mostly! Doyle Bramhall ll is also amazing! His political views I could care less but yeah he is on the right ✅ side with vaccines and being able to speak and have an opinion is extremely important on both sides ,no woke bullshit no cancel culture bullshit ... freedom is absolutely imperative at this point
@@leechild4655 I think he is aware of it but idk if he watches it I bet he has seen something!I absolutely love Bobby what a great spiritual guy I love his outlook on life and he's a real funny guy his stories are amazing 👏 the fact he remembered all those details from the dominos and George Harrison ATMP album sessions and other stuff he literally knows everyone that was great Allman Brothers history!
My absolute hero. There is zero pretense about him whatsoever. He loves guitar. Nothing more. Nothing less.
LOL, he certainly doesn't like black people, that's for sure...
@@robotsongs Do your homework before you say things like that.
If only I could be a fly on the wall and follow Eric around the world , I just love listening to him , the stories, the people he’s played with , oh to be a friend of his , maybe in heaven
You know you’ve made it, when you name drop, without realising you are, just to tell an everyday story
This is such a great session with Eric Clapton. Lots of these stories I've heard about. It's so great hearing him trying to remember. I really enjoyed this. Thanks so much for sharing.
❤yes
Eric is a legend. A survivor of the 60's & 70's music scene and todays last living GOAT.
Page? Richards? McCartney? Plant? Jagger? May? Dylan?
@@noahprtlnd Page & Richards great guitarist but not at the same level as Clapton.
jimmy Page is right there with Eric....both in my top 5 all time@@mayito714
santana....@@noahprtlnd
As far as a combination of singer and guitarist, you can't beat Clapton today@@noahprtlnd
I never was particularly fond of his music, but this man is one of the living guitar legends, there's no arguing in that! And he had a life. I envy his experiences and the era he lived in. The era my father lived in, and both are still alive today. 'I never was particularly fond of his music'... BUT he made a few gems and played in some extraordinary records. Living legend, no doubt.
Dus geen verstand van muziek ,aangezien dat je Clapton niks vind .
Whose music licks your wick, then?
Great Instrument. Clapton is such a humble guy. Great.
Any time seeing Eric play ,telling stories, and being off the cuff,is such a good time ! Thanks for sharing Martin ! Bobby Whitlock ,mentioned by Eric as the writer of thorn tree in the garden ! Nice that Eric gave a nice compliment to Bobby as a singer song writer. ...
MAN that was such a sweet shout out to Bobby Whitlock. Both of these guys are such sweet, real guys. I hope someone had told Bobby and his wife to check this video out (I feel certain someone has)
Yep, l cheered out loud when Eric credited Bobby by name like that.
Although, Bobby _does_ say that Tom Dowd asked him if he'd record "Thorn Tree" for the closer, not the other way round, as Eric stated here.
Somewhere between the two recountings lol...
All I know is l dig 'em both mightily, and l'd sure love to see the two of them perform a few of those songs live again before time finishes taking it's toll, y'know what l mean?
Get Trucks & Haynes and some of those folks to help 'em out, wouldn't that be a big blast!
What a brilliant piece of filming. Great to see and hear Eric looking so well and being very relaxed. As for his story about the Marshalls 😅😅
Super high pixel resolution. Seeing the veins and lines on his hands on a large screen was almost microscopic. Not a put down, it's almost like you are sitting in the room with them.
Breaks my heart to see the metal snaps on Eric's jeans shirt mar the finish of the Madagascar rosewood on the back of these Martins.
Amazing to witness this chat. Thanks for sharing. Like Eric my D-28 is so fun to play . Thanks Martin , and all the Guitar Center crew for gifting Eric these magical instruments.
Yes, it was an absolute honour for us!
@@guitarcenteryour production team is ass. Seriously
i went to kingston poly to do graphics in 1982 and our illustration lecturer told us the story of his predecessor who is famed for having said "you'll never get anywhere until you out that guitar down, clapton"
God bless you Eric!!!
Great conversation. I love the way Eric got the Sitar sound and also controlling it.😇 God!!!!
What so many of you kids don't know is this, many relate to Eric Clapton as a 'Rock' musician....BUT.....when Eric was 15 years old, he fell in love with the BLUES, and hence he mastered Robert Johnson's tunes from back in 1934! The bottom line is even during Derrick and the Domino's and Cream, Eric's first love is the BLUES, and still is right to this moment! And what we have is one of the last living BEST Bluesmen alive today!
How Beautiful to watch.
Eric , so humble and obviously stunned at such a wonderful gift
Eric is a true master of the guitar. And Martin guitars are wonderful instruments. Enjoyed this interview nice and relaxed great viewing. Thanks 🙏
Always a joy to watch Clapton play - especially on a Martin ❤️
Especially just plucking around on the sofa : )
Clapton, Rock icon and legend still playing and singing great!!! Many of his contemporaries have passed away like Jimmy Hendrix and John Lennon but he still around so let’s enjoy the best Rock musician in history, GOAT!!!
How can you not smile watching this? Made my day.
Thank you for Eric, great conversation! God I Love this man so much!
Eric clapton is motivation for my life❤
6:22 From a 100W Marshall stack to a mid-boost on his custom Strat … how times changed 😂
If you look just to the left of Mr. Doyle, behind the bike wheel, there are silver figurines... those are from the George Harrison "All Things Must Pass" Uber Box Set. Very cool!
O Rei do Rock Classico e do Blues um dos maiores Guitarristas do mundo merece esse belo presente.
Lovely to see him in his element in his own home and for all of us to see this too! Thank you from Adelaide Australia!
He's a big part of me being a guitar player and I love him dearly.
I love this ! what a wonderful gift! Eric is a great guy
As if he ever needed one 🙃 .. it was just Thanks.. I´ve got so many D45s anyway..
Fico muito feliz ..sabendo que esse talento está bem..lindo
Parabéns... sempre
Muitas Bênçãos . SEMPRE
YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL SINGS...EVERY THING 🙏🙏🙏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
I really need to see Eric live again. Hopefully he’ll play Spain soon 🤞
Gotta love Slowhand! God bless him.
Clapton foi are Show ...
Impressionante e Sensacional....😮😮😮😮🙏🙏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷😊😊
How on earth is EC so otherworldly ? I’m a dentist but my passion is guitar. This man is still god!
Me too! Right down to the dentist part
Love this!!! Play on Eric!!
Eric is such a gifted musician and very humble person love his playing.
Delaney Bonnie and friends are mentioned a few times by Eric - their groundbreaking hit Coming Home was something totally else, one of the highlights in his career after Cream. ❤
Eric still the man who other guitarists look up to
He is so kind and sweet. Thank you for this! God bless!
I laughed near the end of the video where Eric mentions that he doesn't know much about setting up the action of the guitar. 'It's a really risky thing'. Totally classic, with the serious look on his face. Incredible human being that brings happiness and comfort to this world.
As soon as I started playing this video on my laptop, my Martin DCPA 1 began humming in its case, in my lounge ...... 😉
Stories & guitar noodling by Clapton... can this be a thing...i would watch, I think many others would too.
Thanks for sharing, Eric’s my favorite for many years. What a great guitar that must be.
Love Eric.
Thanks for this 🎸
seriously guitar center? Yall couldnt have set up a few decent mics for this?
It’s sound horrid
legendary artist. poop mic..
Spoiled brat
Right😂
Guitar center sucks for everything
It’s great hearing EC talk about that ringing sitar sound - I always thought he likes this kind of sound when he goes into the acoustic Layla. You can really hear him searching for these sounds there.
Maybe he just tried to be nice 😉 Low action on acoustics is fine.. but you dont really appreciate any string buzzing.. Do you ever play a guitar ?
@@tomasvanecek8626 Wow! Listen to the acoustic Layla during the 2014 Japan tour. You don‘t play enough, it seems.
Love the ‘All Things Must Pass’ diorama on the side table.
So.many memories he has...lots of stories to tell...WHAT AN LIFE😊
I LOVE this video, thank you for posting!!
Eric has long been my Number 1 and videos like this reaffirm it.
I also still enjoy regularly watching his other Guitar Center videos on "Brownie", "Lucy" and his other Martin acoustics 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it - so did we!
Good to see Eric looking and sounding well.
This was absolutely amazing video
Thank you for this
Clapton is a legend
Amazing!!! ❤
He was more comfortable holding the guitar fiddling...love it .
Derek & The Dominos LAOALS is still my all-time favorite album. Bobby Whitlock's song-Thorntree In The Garden - has got to be the saddest song I've ever heard
Great! Thanks for posting. ⭐👍
Oh Mercy Eric Clapton amazing Guitar player!! I wish I could have see and heard him play my Daddy's 1926 Martin, very old and in good condition!! Good to see you Mr. Eric Clapton!!
AUM... EXCELLENT..WONDERFUL.. PERFECT..THANK YOU ERIC..ETERNAL LOVE
Eric has always been a big influence on my guitar playing!🤘
It's so awesome to just sit down and talk guitars and gear with fellow guitar fam! 🎸 🙌
how could you not stop and listen to this love ec
Just finished reading his autobiography. Informative, inspiring and entertaining.
I have a very nice D-18... 1973. Sounds great.
A great guitar👍 I wish some one would gift me a Martin👍🎸👏
Beautiful guitars !! Cheers!!!
so guttered I won't be able to go the crossroads show this year,,,, seriously hope Eric does another one
solid gold...
Got to see him live in Vancouver about 15 years ago. Fantastic show!
I fortunately own an early 1968 D35, and it’s the one thing I’d run into a burning house for. My favourite thing about it aesthetically is the slightly rounded off headstock. If, for whatever reason I were able to place a custom order through Martin, the most important things I’d specify would be headstock shape and the neck carve from my 68, with the addition of a truss rod and herringbone trim
Eric the love of my life😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow. He actually looks for the fret buzz.
Eric looks great.
Pittsburgh Sep 8, will be the first time to see the Great EC live!!
one of my heroes
Sounds great!
Get to see him soon..!!..😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
This is awesome!
For all his wealth, fame and success, the fact that Eric is so genuinely interested in studying the details of the guitars tells you so much about him…a craftsman cherishes his tools (Pete Townshend being an honourable exception)!
That was really nice.
Thats erics life guitars😊love you😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He looks great love his no bs attitude . Just chats and strums his very valuable toy
Luv my Martins and Eric 2.
Eric didn’t seem too thrilled with the first Martin lol. He looks great though, God Bless Eric a true legend ❤ 🎶
Too much bass response.
The D45 sounds much more ballanced.
But I' m a mahagony guy anyway.
Use to play a Martin 000-18 and a D-18 GE.
Yeah the Audio Is poor though but I got the same Impression
Having said that as they say, with a new guitar, even ones of this standard, the worse it will ever sound is the first time you play it !
I think even more so with the top quality woods , your paying somewhat also for the way they will age , though there are no set rules of course, theres always an "emporers clothes " element as blind tests so often show but then come back and listern to that 45 in 4 or 5 years and then you'll start to hear the real difference The are meant to be keepers at that kind of price
played this guitar a few days ago here in gc nyc was impressed ! lovely chunky neck like the 00028 ec model...sounded as good as anything in the room!!!
He’s long overdue for his Kennedy center honors for his extraordinary impact on the entire nation with his timeless riffs and performances that shook America for decades
I agree , but I fear he’s been a bit too truthful for that to happen anytime soon. 😕
Fabulous exchange!
That sound you got at both the 28 and the 45 is solid, man. Love hearing the stories from Derek and the Dominoes times. Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs is a stellar thing. I guess you, like me, will also send off some love to Duane when you remember that album.
Signed,
J.
#FancyPants #MartinD45 WoW!!! For #EricClapton Fans, the mainstay Martin 000-28EC comes in a Vintage Sun Burst finish that is reeeeeeally nice, compared to the natural antique finish. BTW Eric looked fantastic....He must be driving the heck out of his Ferrari's and having FUN.
It would have been cool to reissue the #MTVUnplugged #Martin 000-42 that #EricClapton played on that legendary night in 1992.
Always seems like a lovely genuine person..
great,
So cool to hear that he didn’t even really know much about the different tone woods. Goes to show that actually playing and learning your instrument takes you way further than obsessing over Indian, Madagascar or Brazilian.
I was shocked. And I was even more shocked he didn't know any of the specs of the D-45 and 28 signature versions of his own guitar. This dude has played Martins for decades. He has a MTV Unplugged for christ sakes, yet he couldn't tell you 1 spec of the guitars he played. John Mayer on the other hand would obsess over every detail.
@@anthonysmithjr.7388 totally
@@anthonysmithjr.7388 Absolutely. I was so excited at first and then listening to him, he has freaking dementia. I felt embarrassed for the gentleman to have to prod him along his own career with dates and models. Horrible. And you know what, he does not need a $12K D-45 gifted to him. Sad.
