Great Who song. I just found the live version from here ua-cam.com/video/9rUqQ9p0XPI/v-deo.html Where John kills it. What I love about Pete is his use of chords and changes allowed John to move around and provide interesting and kickass bass lines.
SRV got me into guitar but if I could play (and write like anyone) it would be Pete (with a little Malcolm Young groove at times).
    Thanks for the channel, BTW.

Just want to first and foremost, Thank You! I am 54 yrs old and just sat your sign off for Pvt Trickr. I started playing when I was 12 and played hard until about 18. Played all of the usual suspects of that ers, most of whom you cover. I totally quit playing at at 18 and did not pick up a guitar again until I was 49. Stupid! Without the advent of UA-cam and great people like you, I never would have been able to pick it up again and play like i do!. I can play anything now and pretty darn good. I play every day and most days go on UA-cam and look for new songs to learn. Often times when I am learning on another channel, I say to myself, "hey, I wonder how PvtTricker plays that" Stones, Beatles whatever. You are great !!! And generous with your time! Please dont stop. Ignore the negativity, it will always be there. Keep it up!! Thanks again!

I had this on a cassette. Played it endlessly in my car. Thanks for all the little mysteries that make this work

Great video and lesson! And I agree, best track on Face Dances. Now let's see if I can work this up well enough to play it acoustic live when this covid mess is over...

I couldn't agree more, definitely the best track off Face Dances. 'Cry if You Want' is the best track off 'It's Hard' although I play Athena on the guitar the most since it's such a fun song to play (Boy I think I learned that one from you as well)

+77thass The live versions of Cry if You Want from the 82 tour are stellar, especially Pete's guitar work on the outro. The studio cut is a little flat by comparison, but you're right, it's still the best tune on It's Hard. In fact, that album should have been an EP instead of a full album.

Based on what you have divulged on your channel... I think there is a good possibility we were at the same show in 82. I saw The Who at Rich Stadium and then at Syracuse U (can't think if the name of the venue.)...at least I think it was 82....it was a long time ago.

I'd just like to say that this guy has been an influence on my guitar playing and has taught me to learn by ear, although not before teaching me to play my all-time favorite song-How Many More Times (thank you Privettricker). Thank you James James, I love picking up my Tele' and jamming along with you, although, not going to lie, sometimes it's funner just to sit back and watch you play. Keep doing what you're doing! But, I have a question, why didn't you ever try songwriting?

Thanks for the tutorial. I thought it was great and found it extremely helpful. Had to learn this tune for a cover band and I had no idea where to start until I found your video. Thanks mate.

Not a bad song for a non who fan. As I have said before, you can make a tune I might otherwise not like, likable.

SCHECTER PT!! I really got to find one of those and play it to see if would be worth the crazy $$$$. BTW I'm curious as to what you think of Bill Szymczyk's work with The Who on Face Dances? To my ears it comes off slicker, cleaner, and more "produced". But is it a Who album? Thoughts?

+Edward de Vere Should have been a Pete solo album. Sounds too slick, has a Fleetwood Mac/Eagles album from that period.
