It’s one of my favorite songs of all time off of my favourite all time album. It’s not all that difficult at all. Decided at the beach last night I finally need to learn it. Hard to play as frenetic as Pete at times, but doable. Thanks!
"Triumph"? Shouldn't that be a GS Scooter?... :) Started off an hour ago looking for a guitar lesson on Slit Skirts, and saw you did it on your PT channel six years ago today. As a Rochester boy and Who fan, I really appreciate your videos. All the best from Scotland.
Hello James...I've just recently found your 2 channels and I just have to say we are very Sympatico in our musical tastes. I'm a Beatles, Kinks, Who, etc. fan and pretty much turned on to and by the music of the mid to late sixties by what is most commonly referred to as the "British-invasion" and continued on through the seventies by Zeppelin, Bowie and so on. Thank you so much for your prolific library of all the artists you do cover. Agoraphobia has pretty much taken over my life and finding your site(s) here are a Godsend. Just about a year ago I purchased a Yamaha LS-TA trans-acoustic guitar. In case you're unfamiliar, it is on the high end of the Yamaha guitars and has something inside the box and attached to the inside back a contraption called a transducer. Anyway, it allows for the player to have access to reverb and chorus without the need for pedals or amp. It just magically comes out of the sound hole. It is such a blast to play with that I wanted to learn more songs which have brought me here to your 2 sites. This morning, I just saw the last post of your PP channel. Let me say that I would just like to apologize for my fellow humans for the "negativity" that has overwhelmed youtube and the internet in general and how it has prompted you to cease posting on your PP channel. I do hope this James James channel will continue to be active and that the inherent negativity you spoke of doesn't overwhelm on this channel. Somewhat like you, I'm not all that interested in music theory, scales, and the like and just like learning from folks like yourself. I began playing guitar when I was like 14 or so and I went to the local music emporium and took lessons from a gigging guitar player who asked me if I wanted to spend hours and hours learning to read music and playing scales, or did I want to jump right in by learning chords. Of course, I chose the latter. I think I took lessons once a week from him for maybe 2 or 3 months after which he told me that the best way to learn is to play with other guitarists especially those players that are more advanced and watch, learn, and most importantly, keep playing. Which is what I plan to do with your videos. If I had to guess from what limited information I have gleaned from your videos, I'd say we were geographically close. My guess...WNY corridor between Nickle City and Ra-cha-cha. Agewise...I'm pretty sure I'm anywhere from 5 to 10 or more years older than you, but my guess is that you are a much older and wiser soul than me. My apologies for rambling on, but your straight-forwardness, lack of guile, and being a person of few words that however speak volumes (to me at any rate) lets me think that may be a great big heartfelt THANKS to you for your video posts and how those posts affect those of us who enjoy them immensely might be appreciated. I believe had we met IRL I would have been proud to have called you...Friend. Here is to hoping that all is well with you and yours in your little corner of the world that you have so graciously shared with me (us). Be well...
James James....... Someday, I gotta buy you a beer or whatever!? Saving all the musicians down in the music pit hours of mucking around, figuring out someone else's songs. Thanks so much for your very talented effort. Best! DP
Man, you are sooo cool. I know you don't want to hear it, or care about it. Thank you so much for doing this. I love the who, and just watching you play it is a blast. And, that J200 is really sweet. I have had the same guitar. Sold it. It was too big for me. I now have a 64 sg p90's.
Great song! Unfortunately as a beginner guitarist I can't figure out the sequence so well, can you please indicate the picking sequence of the D chord at minute 7:15?
Hey James, I learned this song from some guy called privettricker about six years ago. You do it much better than him, that and he was using some funny Everly Brothers guitar for a Who song. Seriously though, I thought it seemed familiar so I went back to have a listen. You play it a little different these days.
Have you listened to Pete's Lifehouse CD's? They're great high-quality demos from the Who's "Who's Next" to "Quadrophenia" period. For example...ua-cam.com/video/Eg5XJgkTYts/v-deo.html
James James I've seen 4 of 6. I'm a transplant from western NY that lives and works in Coachella Valley. Couldn't get tickets and refuse to pay street asking value. No regrets...yet.
Hi James, At around the 6:16 mark, you’re doing the suspension after e chord, then a chord. I can’t see it so well. Could you tell the strings and frets? Kindest thanks.
Came back for a refresher ... what a great song .. man that is fun
Lessons for these sorts of esoteric tunes didn't exist when I was in high school. I'm beyond excited to find them now. Thanks!
We've very similar tastes JJ. My favorite Who song by a mile. Roger never sounded better and these chords are to die for.
One of my all-time favorite albums
great song, great album, great video
One of my favorite Who songs....Thanks for posting

Agree - one of my favorite Who songs, possibly my favorite overall

The F to Eminor change just destroys me. Great job!

That was excellent JJ. I love that tune too.
Favourite song on album

Awesome song. Thanks!
Really love this one, thanks as always
Pete is the king of the I-VII-IV chord pattern.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is a I-VII-IV chord pattern? I play guitar but have never learnt much in the way of scales and keys.
Nice one fella. Thats class
Despite their pivotal role in the song, the gulls were only paid scale.
But their acting was better than Sting's.
Damn, that guitar sounds good! Great song. Great vid.
Even with ancient strings.
That's the mark of a truly great guitar.
One of the few expensive things I've ever purchased of which I can say it was worth every penny.
double plus good shiny!
Cheers man
Awesome, thank you so much!

I was drunk on gin and stout
Nice set of new posts. Gearing up for desert trip?
I've already seen them all!

That A chord with only two fingers is the behind blue eyes chord or am I wrong?
It's in there, yes.

A string open, D string 4th fret, G string 2nd fret, B string 4th fret, high E string open. You mean that one?
Yes, that’s the one. Thank you.
