Great tune.. for the record this song helped inspire Ed King of Skynyrd to write some of the riffs in Saturday night special! The rhythm in this song and MANY other who hits are mind blowing 😅
you're right. the " Moon" period is the only one that matters. Thanks for the lesson and what a band. That drumming is incredible. Love that low E growl.
God sent you to teach us how to play the guitar itself, not just Who songs. God bless you, and I know it’s a cliche these days, but if you’re not a genius then you’re frighteningly close to it. Have a great Christmas and please please please keep up this amazing and priceless work for us who love to learn Who songs and classic rock songs on guitar.
Thank you James!!! My buddy who's a great keyboard player, and I recently started fiddling with some Pete Townshend material recently including this one, Slip Kids, Another Tricky Day, Rough Boys and many more. All completely covered by you and these wonderful posts. Thank you for sharing these with us!!!
Love seeing the tuning and chords explained so well! They sound spot on as usual. After listening to Who's Next a million times back in my youth I realized how much I loved this song. Especially the complexity of the drumming throughout. Love the sound of the A 7th chords. Great stuff!!
This could be one of the most important videos you created. The explanation at the beginning is so important to getting anywhere near to covering this song. Which I have attempted over the many years. Usually, I just moved on to one of the more straight forward songs on Who's Next. Thank you! You've earned another badge to your musical teaching certificate.
I like the way you use the high D and G for G and then slam the D and A . I put my thumb over the low g mute the A and play a full G something you taught me that Pete does I hope that makes sense happy 2022
Great lesson! You have done most of Quad. How about Dirty Jobs. There is a great version by Simon Townshend on youtube but cant make out all the cords Thanks!
+James James Oops! I must have missed that part but thanks for the reply.BTW I must say I always like it when people give Pete's acoustic parts the attention they deserve. I know this might be a bold statement but In some cases I think the acoustic parts are better that the electric!
+James James Is PT your friend, brother or what? I'm confused. Did he teach you, or you taught him? Your voice, house, and guitars are all similar. Is there something you're not telling us JJ? :)
thanx for doing an excellant video and showing how to actually play it vs. some sort of slash idiot wanna be talking with a meth mouth and running through the chords so fast you can't learn it. excellant work. thank you.
I don't believe there is a Capo there. Although I could be wrong. There is a cool lesson of this same song here ua-cam.com/video/uZlOiD5sIac/v-deo.html Or just Look up The Who Bargain By Mark Hitt. A professional guitar player that played with John Entwistle and Rat Race Choir. Sounds just like Townsend!!
James James I hear you very cool Video my friend I wasn't being critical. It sounds very close. I know so many people on you tube can says stupid things. I Was just showing a video up close of a guy who actually played with Mr. Entwistle. The part you do in the beginning @ 2:20 with Capo he bars with index in place of capo. Sounds like his guitar is tuned down half? You could be dead on. There are multiple tracks. Just offering differant look. Cheers man! Good job!🎸🎸🎸
Capo's work good I play Blue Bird from Paul McCartney a lot and I prefer to capo it myself. although they tuned down in the studio. just like the unconventional way of playing woman from John Lennon from The double fantasy album you capo the first fret and then all the sudden when the keychain comes on the second part you just slide the cable forward quickly a fret LOL.. hell even George Jones did that back on some country thing in the 80s he's cranking out singing and Good Old Country tune and next thing you know he hits a cord and then just reaches down quickly and shoves the capo up one fret
The bridge for this song is so beautiful.
love the chord progressions. townshend is such a creative genius.
Thanks brother in acoustic arms!
Bargain and the seeker, those songs don't get enough credit, nice job!
James I know you don't give a F***, but I love your videos. Keep on my man.
Kevin

You have a great ear! This Who stuff is really good bc the guitar parts are so strong on these records. Thanks.

Great song. Probably my favorite WHO song. Great Jersey!
Nice job on this song. Being a lifelong Blackhawks fan I love the jersey too. :-)
I love you, and I love the who

Agree completely, and I never realized there was so many chords in 'Bargain'.
thanks.....blessing and respect....

Nicely done! I’ve learned a great deal from your videos.
Great job on this man. You caught the genius rhythm playing that is the Townshend trademark. Good luck..lol!
Thank you for this one.
Thanks James, another good one!
Love your Dove... Thank you JJ.
I haven't played this in so long I'd forgotten how to, thanks for reminding me.
Yes ! Now that's a Jersey! Great song and Lesson
I'm digging all your vids cheers.
Thanks brother, exactly what I needed
great job James grateful to you and your abilities
Thanks so much for your lessons. You even look like Pete playing this!
Good. Thanks.
this is fantastic thank you
I still don't get how the guitars are tuned differently, but no matter- this really shows how to play the song on an acoustic! Thanks!
Nice. I owe you a few beers since you did this one. Thanks.
Thanks!
ALL James James videos are a Bargain
Man ! That’s fun to play!😂
I’m impressed!
Very good, I always thought the acoustic was the key part in that song.
Added to music folder, thanks man. And Merry Christmas,
Thanks good stuff

Thank you, James! Goog video
Learned a lot here - thank you for all your efforts - truly
Thanks. Never would have figured that out.
I love these lessons where there is a discussion on how it was probably played on the recording. Love this channel! How about "Smash The Mirror"?
4:06-4:36 beautiful picking 🥺💙
Thank you for this lesson.
Man!!You're doing a great job!!!
The album is Who's Next.
I just play it a half step lower so i dont have to capo. makes it a lot easy to hit that high note singing.
One of my fave who songs.
Nice job..thank you!
Nigel Tufnel would be proud : ).
Great lesson! You have done most of Quad. How about Dirty Jobs. There is a great version by Simon Townshend on youtube but cant make out all the cords Thanks!
Sorry if this has already been answered but, the acoustic is tuned down a half step with the capo? Good presentation as usual
Try it with the 6th tuned to D.
Continue man good
Your best jersey 🤘
Great lesson! Your strumming pattern is slightly different than Petes, but it doesn't detract.
Does the beat or tempo change after the intro? It seems like it speeds up quite a bit.
+fed1776 I think that probably has something to do with Moon entering the picture.
+James James what type of Gibson this is.
Pete's homage to Mehr Baba
Fucking Balls man. GREAT JOB!!
Did PT not use a J200 on this or did you just want to use the Dove? I usually see use the J200 on Who acoustic songs.
+StratTele98 No, he used a 12-string. I'm pretty sure I mentioned that in the video.
+James James Oops! I must have missed that part but thanks for the reply.BTW I must say I always like it when people give Pete's acoustic parts the attention they deserve. I know this might be a bold statement but In some cases I think the acoustic parts are better that the electric!

Are you a Chicago Blackhawks fan ?
he was different hockey jersey in every video
YOUR RIGHT, THEY WEREN'T THE SAME WITHOUT KEITH MOON.

+Wilde Beast The point of the lesson is that I think the acoustic has a capo and the electric doesn't.
