  • Danny talks to Glenn Sinon of West Suffield, CT about his amazing '72 Ford Maverick. With his Maverick, Glenn won the Steele Rubber Products Master Builder Award in Boston at the 2018 World of Wheels Show.
    We were very excited to catch up with him and get the story behind the build as well as his tips for other home builders out there. Glenn also explains about how what was supposed to be a quick project turned into an all out, award winning build.
    And, it's even #sealedwithsteele!

    I love seeing people saving a fixing these cars up. The Maverick is not a throw away car. It shares a lot of looks of a Mustang and a Torino in a compact size. I love restomods like your taking different stuff from different Ford's and putting it into one car but your putting things that go together and make sense and sharing ideas with other people and they say hey why didn't I think of that and how brilliant of a idea that was. The Maverick is the perfect little car to build around.

    I learned how to drive in a 1972 Ford Maverick car (ugly brown too), this car is a thing of beauty & class. GORGEOUS COLOR BLUE. Fantastic interior design as well.

      Well done and tasteful Maverick! The first car I drove was my sister's '77 and I got my license in it too. It was nothing like yours though. I'd love to find one and personalize it to my taste.
      Enjoy and I hope it's finished one day!

    • @SteeleRubberProducts
      @SteeleRubberProducts  5 років тому +1

      Yes, he does. It's actually his daughter's car but she's 17 and she's afraid to drive it. lol.

      I sure do!! I finished the car in March of last year and put 900 miles on it last summer. I expect to do many more than that this year. This is NOT a trailer queen show car.

      Sure he just says it's his daughters car just so she won't get mad but in reality he fixed it up for himself lmao

    No talk about the drivetrain? Enquiring minds want to know. Instead of just an infomercial it could have been an interesting infomercail.

    Nice if they looked like that from the dealer sales would of been through the roof.

    • @SteeleRubberProducts
      @SteeleRubberProducts  5 років тому +1

      Couldn't agree more! Glenn built it way better than Ford did.

    • @pookiedig
      @pookiedig 5 років тому +6

      The sales were through the roof they beat mustang sales that's why ford took the Mavericks of the market

      Ford tried to kill the Maverick with the Granada, but Maverick outsold the newer Granada so they kept building it. Then Ford tried to kill the Maverick with the Fairmont, and could hardly give them away at cost. Finally they just stopped production. Highest selling body and chassis Ford ever built. Same body on the same chassis from mid 1969 to mid 1977. US Maverick only, no Comets, production from 1969 through calendar 1975 was 17,673,377 units. Can't find numbers for 1976 and 1977, or accurate numbers for Mexico and Brazil.

    I prefer the 71-72 Grabber completely stock with the grabber stripes and vinyl interior....but he put a lot of work into this car.....just not my flavor

    The car is gorgeous, but it’s so overdone, it doesn’t capture the nostalgia of the original Maverick.

      I agree/disagree. my grandfather and I have been working on a 72 for about 15 years and I love the cars, this one may look unique but I think it looks just the right amount of unique. that blue makes me drool 🤣
