Ganzo -if you don't want copies stick too models that start with FH , that is their lineup they have started in-house but they are starting to work with outside designers too. I know of 6 that have had the D2 tested and the HRC average is over 61
It definitely is 👌🏻and no matter where my knife journey takes me I will always love a good budget knife, especially now that I have a channel I am constantly looking for the best budget Blade’s at the best price to share with y’all so I can try to help y’all stay away from the duds. I’ll definitely do another video on some more good options, I had about 30 out for the video but I figured it would be better to break them up since most people only watch for the first 5 minutes if I’m lucky lol
Love these types of videos. Rat 1 in aus8 was my first knife that got me hooked into this crazy hobby. Still going strong five years later. Penguin is great. Despite the steel, the santa fe is one of my favorite budget knives, really like the blade shape. The Ganzo fh series are all good values. I'd add the cold steel pro-lite to the list. A solidly made beater.
Love my Ruike P662. Under 3" blade for those areas and great steel for the price. The jimping and that little notch on the top really help me know where my finger is on the blade.
I have a Civivi Fracture (orange drop point) and I love it. Very comfortable in hand and great fit n finish. They have a really cool/unique sound when they close. Great video once again Stassa.
A co-worker was inquiring about some budget knife options recently, so this video is good timing for some additional recommendations. I'd recommend also the CRKT Ruger LCK, but with a few caveats: it's apparently discontinued (BOOO!), and one of the two I have didn't deploy well out of the box. It took some disassembly, cleaning, and tweaking of the pivot tension to get it working nice.
Nick, I picked up the Ruike p662 up twice because of your recommendation. The first one was a dud and a half because of the world's worse (and hardest) detent. But the second one works like a charm!
Good show! Didn't realize the wide selection of good & reasonably priced modern knives. I usually am attracted to the traditional patterns; but it's time to try something new. --thanks, don, mphs

If you haven’t already, you should make a video of the knives you have customized to make your own and talk about what you did and how you did it. That would make a nice series.
That’s the correct range for 8cr 👍 if you sharpen it to 15 degrees per side you will get even better edge retention but you just can’t be really hard on the edge
@@Stassa23 15 degrees is too easy for the edge to roll. this is more for kitchen use (tomatoes, onions). for harder use you should go for 18 to 20 degrees.
Great video, love my budget knives. I recently found a knife on Amazon called the SENCUT Actium that looks very interesting. Claims to have D2, ceramic bearings, skeletonized liners for $35. Been looking for video review on it but can't find one anywhere on youtube. I'd love to see your thoughts on it
The QSP Penguin feels more expensive than it is. I know a lot of folks are anti-Ganzo but you can't say anything against the value you are getting. I've yet to get a bad one. I can't say that about some much more expensive knife brands.
I have the qsp hamster, love it!! Ti handle scales, ball bearing flipper s35vn for 135$ it’s great. It is probably way too small for most people, myself included so a lanyard is a must for me to use it, but my state is stupid with the laws so I can comfortably carry a tool, I use daily without worry.
If your a qsp fan check out eafengrow, I recently got two for my birthday from wifey. They are in the style of a strider sng shape, d2 steel and g10 handles, I can’t say if the d2 is real or g10 but I can say it’s great handle material and steel is good if it’s d2 or not! Highly recommend for 30$ get 2 or 10 haha
How’d you get that sweet look of worn jeans on your qsp penguin? I have a couple in the denim micarta and have been sanding the scales but can’t get the white spotty look 👀 did ya bleach it?
Ganzo does NOT ripoff other makers. They only use patent designs AFTER they have expired. And they never copy a logo or trademark. Gonzo is printed on every blade.

Recently got a Sitivien ST124 for $30. D2. G10 handle. Axis-type lock. Pretty thick blade. I think it was a pretty great deal.

I like the petrified fish pf878, ganzo fh 91, sitivien st128, and ruike p801. I think those are best for $35 and under.

my 8Cr tested 59.2 HRC. decent edge retention, no chipping.
