One of the greatest bands I’ve ever seen live. These guys are legends in the metal community for a reason.
Agreed! Saw them in '08 with Gojira and All that Remains. Still one of the best shows I've seen to date.
Legends? I've never heard of them? Maybe legends in the core community, but this ain't legendary anywhere else lol
Angus brown..... They are legendary been around since the early 90's. In flames was a pioneer in the melodic death metal scene.
Agree. Caught them a few years ago in a smaller venue and it was a killer show
In these replies we have a "new to metal" fan if you don't know of In Flames
In flames - Cloud Connected
Tarek Kassis ^^^this. Would’ve been a better one for him to see.
Or Colony
Definitely....Cloud Connected.
fuck yes!
Hell yeah!!
This song has one of the best choruses I've ever heard in melodic death metal. In Flames are legends and are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to melodic death metal and it's such a diverse genre that it's got something for everyone.
Matthew Cohn I like older IF better. Late stuff seems like Anders has a Jonathan Davis man crush. IF and Dark Tranquillity were two of the main flag bearers of Gothenburg metal for sure.
@@Scorpioangel71 for sure. Newer IF sounds like really shitty metalcore
@@Scorpioangel71 You have forgotten about At The Gates. It was a holy trio, not duo dude.
Mudvayn
Yeah this is probably the very boundary of melodic death metal. It’s more like heavy metalcore
“Only for the weak” man... that song is just amazing
I love in flames but this is the only weak song

You should definetely react to more In Flames. They have changed immensely in style from their earlier efforts, and alot of people will agree with me that their first few albums are their magnum opuses. React to Zombie Inc. Next. That's an amazing song
I agree, their earlier albums are alot better than this tune
In Flames went into a nose dive when Anders and Bjorn started taking control. Jesper was the the driving force behind making In Flames In Flames and when he took a step back they went downhill. Jesper is a good friend of mine and every time I listen to In Flames, especially NEW In Flames, all I can do is shake my head at what they've become.
Indeed, the jesters race, colony and reroute to remain are must listens for any metalhead.
Reroute and Soundtrack are my fav's
Listen to this guy Alex, the one fucking person that has a Clue what In Flames' good songs are!
In Flames - Quiet Place
This was the first song of In Flames I heard 14 years ago. Pretty much opened the door to the world of metal for me.
Listem COME CLARITY - IN FLAMES
Yea Come clarity for sure, he would def like that song for sureeeeeeeeee
Because that song is their best song
Brasileiros em todo lugar kkkk salve! ✌ #inflameswetrust
F. Cesar Strings pior que praga haha
@@com1kz875 "crawl through knives" is my jammy jam, but I think "come clarity" got beat out with "stay with me" as best in that style of anders lol. Dont get me wrong, "come clarity" is a must but stay with me...man, that shit is amazing just by the way he sings it and by the end screaming it crushes my soul every time.
Mark Morton featuring Chester Bennington ( cross off)
Considering Alex and Paolo from Trivium are on this track, it should be a no brainer for Alex. Killer song!
Mark M are you mark morton undercover? Secretly trying to promote yourself?
Lol, last name is Moore. I'm just trying to give the guys from Trivium some love for their performances on this track.
I actually didn't know that, so good on ya. Super excited for the rest of the album
Ne Obliviscaris - And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope 🤘
You should definitely check out Jinjer's new LP for "J" too, they killed it.
He still hasn't got to Devin Townsend yet which I find unacceptable, but if he can at least do NeO, after so many people requesting it for so long, I'll be at least happy for that xD
Ne Obliviscaris is amazing, but maybe Devour Me, Colossus instead. Everyone does And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope.
@@xenogorwraithblade2538 Eyrie is by far their best song in my humble opinion.
Maaan, this takes me back!!! I listened to this everyday when it first came out. good times😊🤘
Rip Insomnium.............. PLEASE MAN DO INSOMNIUM - WHILE WE SLEEP (After this series is done ofc)
I can recommend listen to primeveal dark and while we sleep together. Its just epic😍
@@JP_Hatecrew come unto me, Bartzabel....
Here here! Insomnium would be awsome since Alex Hefner already did Amorphis! More awsomeness from Finland please Alex!
@@florisbiezeman3800 by ra hoor khuit
It would be awsome if he did do Insomnium- while she sleeps! and he'll most likely enjoy that lyrics as well.
Yeah baby!!! Great choice. In Flames we trust.
Mark Morton - Cross Off ft. Chester Bennington
Yes!!!
It’s so good too!
Fuck yes!!!
Yupp! (Sorry Meshuggah)
YES!!
I am SO HAPPY u did In Flames!! I too Luvs me a little melody with my metal! Love you Alex!
Man, I'm really impressed by your analysis and the encouragement you gave. That was the most meaningful part of this video. It make me *grateful* (ha) that you do your work from a genuine place.
Keep it up!
"K" will appear soon... so I suggest KORPIKLAANI (Finland). It's a must-know! One of their most known songs is "Vodka" (it was recorded about a decade ago, but they released a new album lately). As for the genre... I guess that folk-metal would be the closest to describe their music style. But it's not epicly symphonical folk-metal that (for example) Eluveite is known of... it's more like a shanty-songs and power-metal hybrid. Tbh I have no idea what are they singing about - I just like their song's tempo and their sound in general ;3
It's also known as pirate metal. :D
In flames is one of.my favorite bands back in 07.
Anders has a unique scream.in my opinion, easy to get used to also. 👍
Great video man.
Listen to them more.
🤘✌
Could not agree more there a great live band also seen them with avenged and disturbed was a great show
@@ltdoom875 that's was probably a fire concert my friend 👌🤘
Anders is by far the worst live performer in terms of vocals I've ever seen live.

@@hallogenesubtil4951 seen them 5 times now and every single time I was extremely disappointed by his performence. He had no timing, wasn't able to hold on notes, seemed to be breathless. He's the kind of singer that only sound good on studio records and that's not enough for me.
I didnt even know about the "ABCs of metal" series until this popped up, nice to see you're enjoying my favourite band!
I never grow tired of this band! one of my many favorites! and i saw them live a couple of years ago. one mf my best fu***ng experiences from concerts!
[M] Mark Morton - Cross Off ft Chester Bennington
You need to hear this!!!!
And for those that don't know: Mark Morton is the guitarist of Lamb Of God and Chester was the singer of Linkin Park until he killed himself in July 2017. This song with Mark was pretty much his last Metal project.
Have a nice day :)
Machine head for M, he can do cross off as a tribute to Chester at another time
Fucking great tune
Someone’s sounding against anything that has to do with Chester..
@@xXNightedgeXx just because I think Machine head is better? Linkin Park got me into metal and was my favourite band as a teen, but nowadays I can't stand hearing Chester. Linkin Park isn't what you'd call the prime of the metal scene.
Please do *JINJER - Perennial* for tomorrow!
Their new EP just released and I saw them live this weekend. Amazing is all I can say.
Achhh another overrated band.
I was literally about to say that he should do that song
@TheDretch Just because alot of people who aren't familiar overly hype them, doesn't mean their music is bad or that someone like me and alot of loyal fans can enjoy their music. In the end music is subjective and I personally really enjoy their music alot. Hope you can relate to that. Cheers.
@@twelvy7362 By definition over hype means they don't deserve the attention their getting.
@@TheDretch And you don't deserve having a keyboard but you are still using it. ^^
I love these guys I've seen them so many times. The energy they bring live is insane. I was so FUCKING happy when I saw he's reacting to this.
Glad you did this. Classic song that I haven't hear in a long time. First time I really paid attention to the subject of the song. Heavy stuff. Cheers from Finland.
When you get to K, do Killswitch Engage. Thanks dude, keep doin whatcha doin.
Cody Hon that’s not a bad idea
Either My Curse or The end of Heartache!
Rose of Sharyn would be cool!
Killswitch engage end of heartache !
End of Heartache, My Curse, Rose of Sharyn, Hate by Design, Strength of the Mind. Dude there's endless possibilities with killswitch
In Flames is great but you'd have loved Insomnium man. I used to listen to bands like In Flames and Trivium but once I got into Insomnium, just couldn't stop listening to it. Still can't.
Probably it would have been better to go for an older In Flames song, maybe Jester Race album.
@who cares Above the weeping world or Shadows of the Dying sun
@@lordecircojeca2039 Dude ikr, either that or Clayman, both are way better than the new stuff
@who cares I recommend their album Across The Darkness. Not a single skip on it!
@who cares Not the person you asked, but also a huge fan on Insomnium. Personally my favorite 3 albums(in no real order) are Across the dark, One for Sorrow, and Shadows of the Dying Sun. They are somewhat different than Winter's Gate as it is really supposed to be one long epic song and the ones on the albums mentioned above are not that way. My personal favorite track is probably "The Harrowing Years" but it is really hard to pick just one.
I love it when you pick the right song and video from a great group. When I saw this one it was an instant click moment because I knew you would love it.
Happy birthday Alex!!! 🎉 Hope you had a great day and an even better year. God bless!!
Love In Flemes, Love that album, greeeeeeeeeat choice...and i
havent wached the video yet xD
S: Shadow’s Fall- The Light that Blinds. They’re an amazing band that doesn’t get as much notice or praise as they deserve. Based off what you liked from this song, you’ll like their work. They go from a softer, calmer acoustic feel to a heavy, chugging, hardcore sound. I’m not much for screamer singers, but their singer does a mix of that and actually sings well when he’s singing more clearly as well. Please, check them out when it gets to S.
YES!
Soilwork could be a good option, too
@@chrismooney4382 Swallow the sun - Cathedral walls would be my suggestion. Doom metal, beautiful, melodic, makes you want to crawl into a corner and cry type of music.
I miss that band
The lack of Shadows Fall being reacted to is sad... +1 for Shadows Fall
Glad you watched In Flames! One of my favorite bands of all time. Nice video dood!
Bro this was my exact reaction when I was 16 in 2005 hearing this!!! I'm so happy you love it too. Keep on rocking!!
K for Korpiklaani, dude!
hell yeah
Would love to see you react to the new Jinjer song Perennial. It's been a while since you've reacted to them. Really dope song.
Never heard this song but sooo awesome
I agree it definitely grows on you !
Dude I love your positive energy! Also when you said "I can't stock shanking my fucking head!" I realized how hard I was headbanging myself lol.
Stoked you did In Flames and like it! That being said, you NEED to check out Iced Earth - Dracula even if it's on your own time and not a reaction video. They're a "must know" of metal. Live what you're doing and how your enjoyment seems 100% genuine compared to all other reaction channels! Keep em coming!
There are better Iced Earth songs for starters, Melancholy, Dark Saga, Watching over me, A question of heaven (my favourite song from them). Then he can move up to The Hunter, Dracula until he reaches the masterpiece Dante's Inferno.
In Flames - Artifacts of the Black Rain
My favorite In Flames song by far.
The riff is so damn catchy
I'm so happy you're finally hitting up inflames been listsenkng for over 10 years hands down one of my fave bands!
Super happy to see you react to this Alex. This song introduced me to In Flames and Swedish Melo Death in general back when it was released in '06. The album Come Clarity is still to this day among my all time favourite metal albums.
Soilwork's Stabbing the Drama, Dark Tranquility's Character and Arch Enemy's Doomsday Machine came out around the same time and also feature really high on my list of all time favourites.
Can't wait to see who else is gonna get the Hefner treatment 😁
Jinjer "Perennial" for J
Spiritbox - Perennial >>>>> Jinjer - Perennial
This is a okay song by In Flames to start with, imho. You ought to check out "Cloud Connected", which is one of the first ones I ever heard. It's got a good range of their various skills and you can actually understand the damned lyrics.... That being said:
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! And I agree with Cody, when you get to K, go for KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. I suggest "In the Arms of Sorrow". You're welcome!
They've got some great stuff and just have fun when they play. One of the funnest shows I've ever been to
One of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands. I knew you'd love it!
Talking about switching from screaming to melodic, clean vocals, since it didn't happen with D, let's try it again with letter T. T for Townsend?
I'm with you on that. Maybe we can get him to do Strapping Young Lad for S!
Man, I really wished you'd give a shot to Iced Earth here.
Yes! been waiting for you to do inflames forever ha. you should some of their newer songs a listen. saw them on the tour of the latest album when the supported avenged and disturbed, was such a good gig.
take this life was my alarmclock back then on collage.. it woke everyboby but me.. cause i love it. :D
Guitar hero 3 is where i first heard and played this song😂
A buddy of mine said he could play any song on expert . So I said take this life.
1 minute later way too hard
oh yes! please some more In Flames!
Also, PLEASE try Soilwork - Stabbing the Drama
Dude i sent him 2 soilwork cd's months ago and havnt seen a vid yet
Hands down my favorite metal song. I love In Flames! One of the few bands that I can just sit down to and listen to the entire album without wanting to skip anything.
Their lyrics are crazy deep, and their musical structure is just beautiful. Very melodic instrumentals.
My Sweet Shadow, Quiet Place, The Hive, Where the Dead Ships Dwell, Crawl Through Knives.... So many good songs!
Great pick. This is one of my favourite songs.
They've apparently come out and said it's not about depression and suicide, but that's what I've always imagined from the lyrics and song itself. The video, too. As someone with deep depression and suicidal ideation, it's spoken to me in that way.
I know it doesn't fit into the "ABCs of Metal" series, but you gotta react to "Cross of" by Mark Morton and Chester Bennington!
Love ya Alex
It totally fits, members of lamb of god, Trivium, and Linkin Park, I think it's worth being in the list
For O can you please check out Oh, Sleeper-"Hush Yael" it's written about a tragic true story and it's so incredible man
He definitely needs some Oh, Sleeper in his life lol
@@ryanls2330 right? Plus he always researches the song so he'll read the story and it'll blow him away

thats exactly why i love in flames and why they will ever have a special place in my heart, whether or not they sound the same like the pre 2000's or mid 2000's.
In Flames evolved my musical taste and range in a way no other band has done and allowed me to discover much more musical epicness i'd might never had discovered - and for that I'll be forever thankful
In Flames was one of the band's at the forefront (and basically started) the entirety of metalcore.. They're truly great for that reason alone haha
Job for a Cowboy - Entombment of a Machine! One of the best metal songs written! Definitely influenced the birth of the deathcore genre.
N - nothing more - don't stop

I was thinking nothing face
They’re not metal lol
@@TheCircuitGeek oh yes! I love nothing face !

in flames have so so many awesome songs. never get tired of listening to them. definitely check them out more.
Jinjers new song Perennial is pretty damn good, you should do that song next, which I'm pretty sure Jinjer is the only Metal band that starts with J (at least that I can think of off the top of my head) so you'll probably end up doing one of their songs.
I can't edit my comment but I'm a dumb ass Judas Priest is another band that starts with J you could do that's Metal.
@@Werewolf914 or Job For A Cowboy, but Judas Priest is of course a huge classic. Still I prefer a reaction to Jinjer
There's also Jasta, plus Janus but they can barely be classified as metal
He’s done Jinjer before. Also, Jinjer are terrible.
@@LeviBoldock Jinjer are terrible? What the actual fuck? lmao gtfo

This was one of the first In Flames songs I ever heard when it came out, so much nostalgia in that riff
Yes! Great video. Do another In flames - pinball map! You wont be disappointed!
What's up Alex? For "J " you should check out the new song from Jinjer "perennial" pretty dope stuff
I'm seeing in flames in March and I'm so stoked. They usually have this song on their set lists, but they've got a new cd coming out a week and a half before the show I'm going to. So might be alot of the new album. But in flames is amazing!! Check out they're other stuff too. Leeches, all for me, the puzzle, in my room, like sand.. great band!
I’m really glad you chose this band and song is one of the most badass singles from my time in middle school
I second
JINJER - "Perennial" for letter J! :D
For P you could do Polyphia. It would be something a little bit different.
They play instrumental Progressive Rock/Metal, but the have heavy influences from popular genres and play beautiful melodies.
Songs to check out would be: Goose, James Franco and GOAT, although i almost like every song they put out there.
I don't understand why people keep suggesting bands for letters that are further down the list.
@@Ammut6 Although i agree with you, that it's somewhat senseless, i just had the idea this moment and wanted to get it out there ;)
Also many do it for the same reason, that people suggest the same song under every video. If he sees the comment under multiple videos, it's more likely it's gonna get picked.
P HAS to be Polyphia..mainly GOAT or james franco is acceptable too
In Flames is amazing. They have a song from their newest album that is heavier like this one, but with the chorus being more regular singing. It is an awesome song and the words helped me cut ties from my abusive family that I still clung to. It is 'I Am Above' and it is fantastic.
Maaaaan, my birthday is same day as yours, you're officially my favorite youtuber lml
K:Killswitch engage-The end of heartache/My curse/This fire/Holy diver Cover
For [J] - Judas Priest - Cathedral Spires. That song is so awesome, yet so forgotten.
He's already done Judas priest tho. It's gonna be Jinjer
He also did a reaction to Jinjer. Besides, Ripper era Priest is pretty different from the Halford one.
@@tomaszpl95 doesn't matter, look at what the comment section wants. That's what he's going to go by for this one.
