Thank you for the comment, and you’re 💯 correct. I’ve had better experiences with Horizon Hobby support lately than Traxxas even though it takes a while to get through.
Aw man that sucks. Sorry to hear that. I was tempted on buying that same servo but held back and got myself a perfect pass servo that was made to fit straight into the X-Maxx. It was bloody expensive, but the performance is awesome. Hopefully your problems get resolved soon brother 🙏
@redbanditracing Hell yea dude, and agreed. Very expensive, but the performance is crazy, even at just 6V. I paid $270 shipping included, and another $90 from its fees since it was from UPS. So overall, it cost me $360 😂
I put that servo in my XRT and so far I haven’t had any issues, I was thinking about getting an aftermarket servo, but did not find one that fit direct, without an adapter. I also do agree with customer service being hit or miss, I’ve had them give me free esc replacements, no problem, and other times they have made me pay the 50%.
it dosent seem like u recalibrated the esc to ur receiver maybe its off by a little hence why it only works after u give it throttle after the firts start up ? the nutral foward reverse calibration hope u get the issues resolved!
I see the flashing green and no throttle on the New Sledge too 🤔 also at times on the Maxx v2. Both of these ESCs required unplugging to shut off, which is normal. Wondering if they are related 🙂
I just put a 1/10 size servo in mine.. 38 bucks from gxservo hobby.. its called ak70. And its flawless.. it even comes with spare gears if u ever need to replace them
I just bought mine last week from Amazon and had the same issue would run for 2 min I would turn left and it would completely turn off I’d turn it back on and good for another 2 min eventually it just bricked my esc wound t turn back on till I unplugged esc removed fuse and turned back on with original servo Traxxas needs to step it up I’m torn between sending it back to Traxxas which is out of stock or back to Amazon and probably end up with the same issue maybe go with the x instead of r!
Send it back to Amazon, Traxxas informed me it goes back to them anyways so they recycle them. You’ll be waiting for months! New servo install this weekend, video will be up Wednesday.
Yeah I called them and got an rma open but when I asked if they had it ready to ship out they said no it’s been out of stock for a while so Amazon here I come and perfect pass is on its way good luck man new subscriber here long time rc fan! Love your content keep it up
Key Fulcrum 75kg XMaxx servo is the only way to go, I’ve had mine since they came out about 1.5yr ago & it’s been flawless…. Fast, super strong & NO adapter needed
1. It appears the servo draws excessive power, causing the esc to trip. Only way to find out if you install a non-Traxxas servo. 2. Traxxas servo is designed to draw more power and the esc's internal BEC is insufficient. Nothing wrong with servo and esc. Noth not compatible; servo designed to operate at higher voltage, while the ESC's internal BEC may only output 6V or less. Keep us on the loop.
Also heard the servo could be drawing too little voltage because of the ESC causing an issue. Guess we will see what a non Traxxas servo does. Definitely keep everyone updated
If the esc detects any kind of throttle or brake from the transmitter it will flash green. Normally I would a apply a small amount of throttle or brake normally fixes it. If not then I just re-calibrate my esc. I think its because when dust gets in the controller it starts messing with the neutral position. Its very sensitive. Its weird but once I figured out why it flashed I just kept running it as so. As far as loss of power, I have no idea! Very strange and disappointing.
I have, the only issue is for the cost of the 2085X you can get something with twice the torque. We’re going to start venturing away from Traxxas Electronics.
I'm still new, but it sounds like Traxxas has a lot of electrical issues. And they tossed your servo away that you bought elsewhere??? Thats BS man hope it all gets fixed up
It was already calibrated, the X-MAXX system needs to see a response from the receiver to go steady green. Only the X-MAXX I’ve seen have that kinda delay when starting.
That sucks. I have had 2 of these since they were first available and they have been great so far. Probably because both trucks have Hobbywing max G2 combos in them instead of the traxxas ESC and motors (Max6 combo in my Xmaxx, Max10 combo in my Maxx). I'll definitely keep an eye out for any of these issues on those trucks when they roll over. I have had Traxxas TQI receivers go bad on a 2 cars lately (a Trx4 and the Maxx). So I feel like the receivers can crap out at any time, but they are cheap and i like having them all on one remote so i just throw another one in. my other cars have Perfect Pass Monster servos and these 2085r's have been performing pretty much the exact same as those. I'll probably put Perfect Pass Monster T's in if these 2085s start having issues. hope they don't.
If you’re running a HobbyWing, that’s why you don’t have those issues. That servo doesn’t play well with their own electronics. Sucks cause I’m sure it’s a good servo.
My Xmaxx ESC would burn out the servos. They replaced it and so far I have not had any issues. I first thought it was the servo itself but now I believe the ESC is a problem too.
I've never had good luck with the traxxas electronics and I've dealt with the traxxas support and it is terrible. Me personally I just ditch all the traxxas electronics whenever I get a traxxas vehicle. I would just get the Perfect Pass Monster servo for the XMaxx. Its $170 but go watch his video on it on here. His channel name is Raz Shifrin. Hopefully I spelled his name right. Im going to be getting that servo for mine when I get it. I'm going to be getting my XMaxx next month.
Why don't you just connect that servo to another one of your Traxxas cars' receiver/ESC and see if it still has problems. All Traxxas servos are 6 volts anyways so any 4-8s ESC should work. The 3S probably won't have enough amps. Obviously you can't install it but I mean just a bench install. Also, that shorted temp wire could have fried something else. One time I had a shorted fan wire that smoked and prevented the ESC front even turning on until I noticed the short and fixed it. And another time some lighting kit wires got stuck in the pinion/spur (very unlucky) and it fried my receiver and servo but my ESC was fine. Electronics can break in weird ways...
Funny you say that, I had the fan wire in the MAXX do the same thing. I think we’re gonna start going to HobbyWing, which will also let us increase the BEC for other servos.
@@redbanditracing I'll be honest dude. I really like Traxxas' stuff and I thought "their electronics were fine" for quite a long time. And truth be told, they are fine. But... Once I tried one of the new Hobbywing G2 sensored motor/esc combos... Traxxas electronics seem like kind of a joke. I ended up buying 2 more of the new G2 systems. So now I have a Max 5, a Max 6 and a Max 8. You will not want to use Traxxas electronics after using a sensored Hobbywing system. I mean the stock Team Corally electronics are amazing, basically just rebranded Hobbywing stuff.

It’s a win win since you can get a refund from Amazon too I hope. I get your frustration. My truck was pulled apart for 2 months as I waited for new servos every time they burned out. Let me tell you about my issue and what happened. I posted a part 2 video of the resolution. My ESC would flash green like yours spontaneously although I never thought much about that since the blinking would go away, then come back and go away… Traxxas replaced my ESC, I am not sure if they replaced my receiver too because it’s something that remained clean so I couldn’t tell if it was swapped. They also replaced my servo.. they had my truck so they worked on it themselves and returned it serviced. ESC does not blink anymore. So far my truck has not broken, I am on day 3 of using it. I am waiting for it to break with mild abuse but it hasn’t. I believe there must have been an issue with a certain batch of ESCs where it over volts the servos .. that’s all I can think of. Sorry it happened to you too. You’re lucky you got it from Amazon because they have very lenient refund policies.. traxxas won’t refund hence why I kept replacing them, I bought directly from them so I had to keep sending it back.. $150 is alot for me.
