I been back in the Hobbie since 2015. an in my experience Traxxas makes great trucks; but watch out for the electronics. In my opinion get everything aftermarket. Hobby wing for esc, Savox for servo an so on. Good luck and thanks for the Entertainment
Hey I just found your channel looking at buy a traxxis maxx v2 . I know there really durable but what parts should I get to keep on hand . I’m just getting back into the hobby since I was a kid. Thank you in advance for the advice. Love your videos
Great choice, and you won’t need a lot of parts. Extra axle, extra front/rear hub, caster block, and a hub pin/screw set in cause you loose one. We’ve had extra hubs for almost a year now and haven’t broken them yet.
I owned an Xmaxx, and i SWEAR, that 99% of its issues come from too much chassis flex. The flexing of the chassis negatively affects nearly all of the moving parts in this RC. If Traxxas could figure out how to stiffen their chassis, it would fix a lot of these issues, moving parts must be stationary. Imagine the steering column in your car moving side to side when you turned or if the engine in your car shifted constantly. People are trading basher durability for stripped gears, worn-out servos, pinions flying off, drive shafts rubbing and warping, yes all of this happened to me and many others who own or owned an Xmaxx.
@@redbanditracing Oh, that's right, those exist, I believe it just protects the bottom of the chassis, not sure if it prevents it from flexing. Try one and post your thoughts. I'm really searching for a reason to invest in another Xmaxx. It was so awesome and fun when things weren't stripping. I still regret selling it on FB marketplace.
I went through 3 2085R servos so far. Traxxas has been replacing them for me for the past 2 months. It’s not your ESC, it’s not anything wrong with your RC. It’s the servo and Traxxas won’t acknowledge it. Install your old servo and it will be ok. I made a video about it , I recorded my 3rd servo break and uploaded it. Traxxas will replace yours and I put my money on it that it will happen again. Traxxas had me send in my truck after the 3rd servo broke to “look into the issue” only to have them simply replace the servo them selves and not diagnose anything. They wasted 3 weeks of my time not having my truck. I’m still waiting to get my truck back. I will record the 4th servo break and I will post a video again because I know their servo is the issue not the ESC or anything else with the truck. This sucks.
That does suck! Keep us posted. I have 2 XMaxx’s and I’m using the 2085X ones and while they are probably not as powerful as the 2085R newer ones they are decent enough. I may try that one after they sort out their electrical issues or possibly the Perfect Pass one that is a direct fit.
@ I will man. What drives me nuts is TRAXXAS didn’t want to reimburse me or give me store credit … mind you that was after the 3rd one broke. Once I get my truck back and the 4th one breaks, I will demand store credit or ima stay in this infinite cycle of having them replace it every time it breaks which is insanity and expensive since I pay postage to mail it to them.
@@stogie0608 That’s frustrating brother. Maybe you can speak with a supervisor and see if that gets you any further. I don’t know what their business model is when it comes to issues like this with repeat manufacturing defects but they should do the right thing.
I’ve been told the 2085X isn’t much of an upgrade, that’s why we got the 2085R. Not everyone is having the same issues with this high torque servo. I am making an update video once everything gets this once everything gets mailed back.

Haven’t had to many issue with electronics till now. Hopefully new servo works right, or we will look into aftermarket servos.
Traxxas is all about customer service. I have good experience with them since 1997.
Traxxas needs to up its ESC/Servo game
Just cut the old drive shaft in half and pair it with the new one.....tha way you get 2 new shaft with a spline in the middle 💁♂️ thank me later
What do you use on your bodies to make them tougher? What do you put around the bottom edge of them?
Check out or upgrade and repair videos, it’s body armor. Works great!

I’d say a composite chassis with a metal insert, and rugged chassis braces would help a lot.

You supposed to put the servo on 2nd ch1
The servo does not operate properly on either channel, there were two separate issues. Receiver CH2 was shorted, the servo 2085R is also junk.
@@redbanditracing ohk I read manual that how I know where to put it. Tnx to let me know cause I getting one this week
I went through 2 so far....very disappointed, and it fried my receiver
I think this is an isolated issue, not everyone is saying they’ve had issues. I am making a follow up video once everything gets mailed back.
That sucks..........
