  • Having to isolate in the house for the last week has led me to identify some work that I have been putting off for a few months now. I took this opportunity to open up the fireplace and do some cleaning.
    Equipment used:
    Imperial Glass Cleaner - amzn.to/39jjR8N
    Cotton Rags - amzn.to/3meoMLG

Simple enough demonstration yet quick enough to hold my attention.

Excellent - great video. And did I detect a Wisconsin accent there? I've got family in GB so I can pick it out from a crowd anywhere!

      Lol...I'm from canada.
I grew up on the border of Minnesota. It might be similar to Wisconsin.
      Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video, is it necessary to turn off the fireplace ?

I'm sure you're supposed to in order to prevent any gas or smoke from entering the house. I used to have a B-Vent gas fireplace which was totally open and I had no problems. But i believe the open system is being banned in many locations. I never had an issue with mine. I would be confident in cleaning the glass with the pilot light running, but I wouldn't recommend it to others.

What is the purpose of turning off the pilot?

I bought Rutland Fireplace Glass Cleaner. It didn’t do a thing.

I think most of the natural gas fireplace cleaners are all the same product, which is pretty similar to ceramic stove top cleaners. Is your glass heavily carboned?

@@DIYNorth Lots of white spots and smears that won’t come off. Besides the fireplace glass cleaner I tried white vinegar, foam glass cleaner, steel wool and a razor blade. Nothing did anything.
