Valley of the Sun 2019 Stage race in Phoenix Arizona. Showing the Time Trial, Road race and Criterium all from a Cat 3 perspective.
Can't go wrong with char broiled dead animal.
Amazing video. Wonderful information. Great place to track on.. Great job.
The 80s powerballads really bring this race to life!
I have to mix it up!
I was the guy that sniped you in the field sprint btw. Good video that race was way too short.
I got the Gamechanger in white. I absolutely LOVE this helmet. Content has been top notch man. Keep it up. And the 1990's movie action scene music was a phenomenal touch!! Hahaha.
I love the helmet however I dont use it for crits as I just dont feel very safe in it for some reason dont know why. Thanks glad you enjoyed the vid!
@@CyclingVirgin dude I thought i was just imagining it. I feel the same way. Do you think it's pretty thin? I feel like there isn't a whole lot of material in between my head and the outer shell.
In these races where there isn't a ton of organization, bring more patient and using your first "leadout" guy to just sneak you and Brendan up to the front with half a lap to go and then having Brendan just throttle the last two turns like he did will save you a ton of stress/frustration/energy. Just sneak the mini train past the group. If Brendan yelled to you and didnt come by soooo fast, you wouldve been able to win also. Great vid!
Cat 3 heroes in that crit 🤣
Dude for real people were headbutting with 15 mins left in the race.
Always enjoy your vids!
Dope video! Dope music!
Thanks CG!
Enjoyed the vlog bro. Great racing out there !
Great job on the win! loved the video!
Thanks Harry!
Congrats on 3rd! Always a win when you keep rubber side down.
There was a few close calls for sure but happy for sure we all stayed safe. Thanks Mr H!
No W but good race. What fork mount is that? I have a Silverado also and have been looking for a solid one.
Its made by Thule I forget the name. Thanks!
nice work man
Dude, where did you go??
Just found your channel. Super cool. Watched so many of your old videos. Would love to do a collab with you at some point?
Great video👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻
Thank you!
American Flyers !
@4:54 Rotation over? You didn't pull through for 304!
Oh, I didn't realize it was the lap after the breakaway formed.
Good video quality. What are you using?
Session 5 thanks!
What a great demeanor you have! So humble, humorous and genuine. You should be in sales :)
I appreciate that Doug thank you!
You dont roll with a team?
what'd you eat while doing the road race? gels bars ?
Both. I had one Bonkbreaker and 4 gels for that ride.
The guy's move at 14:24 seems clean to me -- not like 10:54 where the dude cuts right over your wheel. You're right though, strange he'd be aggressive on that turn and then not even attempt to sprint. Great video, congrats on the podium!
I agree the move in the last two corners was clean he just had the held the inside.
Both moves were clean. If you corner slower than the pack and let gaps open in a crit, they're going to be filled. Remember, the guy who is doing the commentary has done fewer than 20 races in his whole 'career', all in a not super competitive region of the country. Respect for what he's doing, I support anyone bringing awareness to the US road racing scene, but he just needs to be careful calling out other riders as unsafe when in reality they are racing tactically and simply holding their line in a corner then shutting the door. Go watch videos from Justin/Cory Williams (The 'best crit racers ever' referenced in the video) and you'll see moves like this, shoulder bumping, etc. over and over again.
Sitting on your couch I’m sure you have a great perspective on what was unsafe and not. Sorry but unless you are there in that moment you are just taking out of your ass. 👍🏻
And I’m not afraid to bump shoulders and have a position taken with aggression but chopping my front wheel is a shit move.
@@CyclingVirgin I was there. That CA bozo in the leaders jersey was me. I didnt chop your wheel. Have some humility and realize that racing 15 crits doesnt qualify you as an expert or give you the authority to call out other riders when its really just you lacking experience/perspective.
1st go get fit on your road/tt bikes (by an experienced bike fitter research it) it will make a difference your performance will improve, trust me on this. 2nd race on tubulars, they perform and handle much better especially in crits. 3rd. I am not a fan of power meter, but if you are going to use the power meter do so only in training, when you are racing your attention needs to be on the racing, not the power meter. Keep racing and learning racing don’t rush to make cat 2 (looks like you have a good sprint work on improving it) Pro 1/2 are a different plant than cat 3. Good luck bro.
I didnt say in the vid but I borrowed the TT bike from a friend for the day so I didnt want to make any changes to their front end setup. Of course on my road bike I have had numerous fits over the years but what you said is great advice and correct! Thank you!
I'll stick to triathlon. That crit looks like a suicide mission.
You should speak over the race rather than just putting words.
Lol! The way you say dead animal, knowing you’re going to piss vegans off 😆
