- The original Chantels (Renee Minus White, Jackie Landry Jackson, Lois Harris Powell, Sonia Goring Wilson and lead singer Ami Ortiz) perform the group's 1957 signature ballad hit, "Maybe" for a P.O.R.C.C. audience in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in October of 1995.
These women are sooo 😍 🤩 👌 😘 beautiful...what angelic voices and lovely women.....true. beauty!!!
The song and singers are such an integral part of the progression of music
What a great song and done so awesomely I might add.
great song keep onkeeping on
great voice
Great song and a group that survives.
When the Squires recorded So Many Tears Ago on Gee (1082), Richard Barrett was playing the maracas and Arlene was sitting in the studio along with Wellington Gray, Richard's friend and our manager.
Great performance, great song! Although the name "Original Chantels" could be a little deceptive in some ways. For anyone who didn't know, although the group does contain original members who recorded the records, the lead singer is not the original lead. Ami is a great lead vocalist who has been with the group for many years, but the original lead singer on "Maybe" was Arlene Smith.
This is true, although the backing voices were all original members. However I feel that Ami Ortiz emulated the original lead sound better than Arlene Smith was able to at this point
@@rem-so1lynah nah nah. She did pretty good though!
This was done so beautifully
If only George goldner would have put Chantels voices more out front in the recording, it would be even better.
Ami Ortiz is an excellent singer, but the song isn't the same without the soaring vocals of Arlene Smith.
Sonia and Renee shown here are original members
As are Jackie and Lois. At this time, there were four.
reading those names, these are pretty much the originals minus the original lead singer, Arlene Smith.
