I think it has to do with the realistic scenarios that would happen in the real world. You’d have to be really bold to butt scoot in a street fight.

Until there is a new genre of sport BJJ guys that can “deconstruct” the drop to guard specialists, you can’t chastise them for capitalizing on the rules and fighting off the back.
Attack the legs from the top or pass.
The maximum level respect these two have for each other is refreshing to see in the fighting sports.
Do people just refuse to undesrand this stance works for Mike is because every fighter knows the only way to have a chance is to be aggressive because if Mike walks up on them in the same stance they have no chance?

I wouldn't call this pulling guard, he just dropped into guard. if the other guy did the same then they probably handfight a bit and eventually grab a leg.
pulling guard is essentially a reverse takedown, where one drops into guard but pulls the other into it as they drop.
then they're both on the ground already, where 99% of BJJ happens anyway. It just skips the step of trying to get your opponent to the ground.

@@Cokey96 every well rounded fighter trains Jiu Jitsu, otherwise when the Jiu Jitsu guy gets a hold of you you’re finished. Dropping to the floor like that is his individual choice it’s got nothing to do with Jiu Jitsu in general, all Jiu Jitsu matches start from the feet and all good Jiu Jitsu schools teach takedowns

This is a SPORT with rulesets, not a street fight!! Don't like the format?! Bash the organiser or WATCH SOMETHING ELSE!
If the rules allows butt scooting or guard pulling then why wouldn't an elite grappler like Mikey, who's VERY comfortable on bottom position, not take advantage of it?!
The ONE grappling rule set encourages sub attempts and discourages stalling. Its definitely more fun than watching a IBJJF match for the most part.

Mikey literally tore someone’s leg in one of his last fights. The only fight that night that resulted in long standing damage, out of other martial arts like Muay Thai and boxing. I’d consider that a fight.

The best thing to do against a butt scoother is not even engage and run around the ring, forcing them to stand. You should lose points for directly sitting on your azz
