    "Heart without Nancy was a good cover band with a dynamite singer. With Nancy, it was like one plus one equaled ten." - Mike Flicker, producer of Heart's first 5 albums.

      Listening. They did I'm down? I kind of hated that song. I got a little education about it and easyed up on it some. It was dumb about the music the Beatles and others were intrigued with.

    My favorites of these are "Even It Up," the synchronized lead to "Nothing At All," and "Papa was a Rolling Stone." She often has only four bar leads, or synchronized ones, but can really rip it when she wants to. Her legacy as a soloist cannot be properly assessed without taking into account the masterful intro to "Crazy On You"; which counts as a solo too. Always has been foxy.

    • @jussitikkuri6991
      @jussitikkuri6991 9 місяців тому +2

      WOW.... I agree whole "heartedly " with your comment. Does Nancy do the intro to "Barracuda" as well ? Cuz that's always been very cool as well. The only thing I can add is the Ann should get her ass off the stage especially when outro solo's are taking place.

    I love this compilation, however, it often bothers me when people comment on Nancy, whether or not she is a good guitarist, or disparage her in comparison to Howard or Roger, in terms of "electric guitar", and forget or ignore that other types exist of guitar and Nancy IS primarily an "ACOUSTIC GUITARIST". That's her main instrument (or should I say "her main man" as she calls it). She didn't play an electric until she joined Heart, when she had already been playing acoustic for over 15 years, and of course, I think she's good. But for me, her acoustic stuff on it is superior to any of these solos and that's where I really see and feel her greatness. And that is where the distance between her and Howard or Roger (with whom they insist on comparing her) is marked. No matter how great or superior they both are on electric, neither of them comes close to Nancy on acoustic. Because it's not just about playing the notes, but about feeling and communicating with your instrument. And Nancy definitely has a very special thing with her acoustic guitar. That's where she lives. But of course, she can also have fun with the electric one.

    I always loved Nancy's solo in Kiss. I saw the Lovemongers at the House of Blues in L.A. in '97, and Nancy was playing SO much electric guitar with some very cool solos. It was great to see!

    Every solo is strong, melodic, and oozing with feeling. The song didn't need shred or over the top ripping. She's also a great writer of many iconic songs and intros.

      Tbh Josh homme is a rhythm guitarist at heart, doesn’t stop him busting out a hell of a solo though. I’d say the best guitarists are rhythm guitarists because it’s really fucking hard to transition quickly in the way to pull it off well. Eg, if I’m learning a pixies song the bit that’s stumping me the most is usually Francis’ part rather than Joey’s. Suffice to say Nancy is and always was the real deal.

    Met Ann and Nancy Wilson in 1987. I was just a worker at a marina in W. Vancouver. Making $6.75 an hr and just trying to get by. Beautiful and gracious ladies, Nancy is a lady, and so is Anne. They need each other and compliment one another. One could not do it with the other. When watching the led zeppelin video, Anne relies on Nancy for cue and tempo. Nancy relies on Anne's voice to achieve. It is all good.

    The first time I saw the rock band Heart was in 1980 at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. I'm very familiar with their songs but to see them was something entirely different because they were FANTASTIC ! Nancy Wilson is 1 hell of a great guitarist and in the early days she didn't get the recognition that she deserved which I think was a damn shame. The band Heart in my opinion can go up against the best of the best ! ROCK ON NANCY AND ANN WILSON and the band HEART ! 💞🎸💯😉❤️✌🏼😎😉🎼🎵🤗🎶🔥

    I used to like their music until I seen an interview with the Wilson sisters who said that they didn't like the music at the beginning of their career because it wasn't written by them. Even though these included their biggest hits. I understand record companies didn't treat a lot of musicians right, but I also understand that a lot of musicians would still be unheard of if it wasn't for the record companies backing them early in their careers.

    • @Don-Jack
      @Don-Jack  Рік тому +2

      That was about their mid-80s music, not their early music, which was entirely written by them. And they liked some of the music they did from the 80s. Nancy for instance has always said that she begged to record These Dreams because she loved it so much. They also wrote some of the music from that era, like "The Wolf" and "Nobody Home" that are in this video 🙂

    • @czos9239
      @czos9239 Рік тому +1

      80s was tough for many bands. It was a cash out time for the music companies who generally treated known talent in a take-it or leave-it manner because the gravy train was so intense. So you see a lot of "hit makers" in credits of the time. But as others have said, never seen anything about them not caring for their early stuff.
