You are The Best, Becky Saif! I completely, fully understand phase cancellation now. Fabulous examples to drive points home. Very well presented! Thank you.
Voxengo's free multiband correlation meter is a godsend, and free. I tend to use an 'invisible' multiband split with a utility on each band and generally its always to lower the width in certain areas. Its crazy how many samples come with phase issues right out of the pack lol
Great explanation! Potential phase cancellation in sub frequencies is one reason I don't tune percussion to the key. I know you're aware of this one, but phase cancellation can be done deliberately to perform a null test which determines the level of difference, if any, between two pieces of audio. Finally, there's the classic tip of checking your mix in mono to reveal stereo phasing issues.
I love this, I thought i knew everything I needed to know about phase cancellation and you gave me a few tips i wasn't really aware of. Ace moves. Love this channel. edit: and i hate social media and twitter is the worst. nice moves again.
This is great! Glad you got more from this video. I was actually thinking of doing a more advanced phase cancellation video in future as well. Keep an eye out!
So many people don't care about this. I still have the Novation Drumstation from back in the 90s when it was first released. Did you know the snare isn't in phase with the kick drum on that device? No joke. That would be a nice topic for another video: Making a kick and a snare sound perfectly together. To many people this seems to be a real issue.
Great video describing technical terms in an interesting and informative, easy to absorb, way (no mean achievement!) Its a small point but @224 I would have said 'reversed the polarity' rather than 'flipped the polarity' :)
Good video! Very important subject and definitely overlooked. Its not exactly inspiring, though 😅 When I’m working in midi, I often use Ableton align delay to both align phase and add a nice groove to the drums 🙌
How can you not feel inspired by the wonderful science behind the artform? I love this stuff. I'm a proper nerd though, with a science background. Ableton align delay, great tool! Love the idea of using it to add groove to drums. Thanks for sharing :)
Those using a subwoofer need to be sure its phase coincides with the studio monitors, even though you may still hear some bass it will be attenuated if the phase is opposite between the sub and monitors. 😊
I'm trying to figure out how to solve vocal phase cancellation with other sounds, but it's tricky because it sounds whacky if it's not using particular frequency in the mid range but this overlaps other instruments. How or what is the best approach to solve vocals around mid to high frequency? Is it possible in the case of vocals to fully remove phase cancellation?

Saif (safe) surname is cool for musician in the UK - probably more so in the early 2000s. (I realise its Arabic and doesn't mean the same thing- its just cool)
I wish my likes would help as much you do with your tutorials! Thank you!
hahaha get liking everything ;)
obligatory comment to remind the algorithm to promote tutorial vids that are actually useful 😃
many thanks for sharing this, good info.
Thanks for that! haha appreciate it

oh! Amazing to hear. So glad you are able to fully understand after watching my video. Means so much 🥰🥰

Very good video, thank you 👍👍🙂
Amazing!!!! Dont sleep on the last solution ( deleting some elements ). It may be simple but very effective.
Yes!!! The delete button is my best friend in music production. Totally support this 🙌🙌
Nice explained
Thank you 😃
Great stuff as usual
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the long time sub! Appreciate the support.

Thanking you 😁
This is a great video , really well presented.
these are great tips! 🥰
Glad you think so!
6:54 Great! I'm too lazy to layer kicks anyway. 😅
I only really do one kick as well. Unless I'm feeling extra special and want to spend a year on a track 🤣
Excellent, I love you so much

Needed this! Always knew about the cancellation and with so many layers in dubstep my mix would get lost. Thanks 🤍
You're very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to watch and to comment. Glad you liked it.
