It's such a good song. The backing vocals are so precise and beautiful. The way the instrumental lines develop...and the drop on "fall". The quality of his singing, of course. I don't know what I was expecting from Jimin's album but listening to it day after day and writing it out to see the structure....yeah it's the gift that keeps on giving. I enjoy your comments, you often pick up on things I hadn't thought of.

If you listen to the album in order, this song comes after Like Crazy. In Like Crazy he is not wanting to wake up from a dream where he is happy and having fun. He doesn't want to be saved but left alone. Then it transitions into Alone, where he realizes that he is struggling and that he is putting on a face for others. Walking around in the dark, repeating the same pattern over and over. He is calling out for help (the Mayday line). The lie reference, pointing out that he may think he's ok, but he's really not. This then transitions to Set Me Free Pt 2, where he finally decides to take control and transform like a Butterfly. He is done listening to those who try to pull him down and is therefore set free. The whole album is so thought out and well made. Unique songs, and goes with a theme and progressive across the tracks in order. Alone and letter will probably my favorite tracks apart from like crazy from this album.
