This song is off his 'Face' album that was released exactly one year ago. When he wrote the songs is was during the pandemic...ultimately, we were all alone one way or another, during that time. His album is brilliant, and his feelings were very much valid. Alone is heartbreaking, but very relatable. I’ll never get over how much Jimin, Yoongi (SUGA) and the BTS members share their own struggles and are completely relatable to any of us. Sadly during the pandemic, especially during the times of forced quarantine, being ‘alone’ wasn’t even a choice but forced upon. It’s even harder, more difficult to deal & cope with for a performing artists, especially someone such as Jimin who’s even stated that he doesn’t feel totally alive until he on stage performing during concerts in from of his fans army! Even rest of members always have commented how excited & thrilled Jimin is, even having tears of joy, whenever they got to go on tour & perform again, even during normal times. Whenever there were breaks in the past he’d slip into a depression. Happily he’s seems past all that now, but there seemed a time where being on stage validated reason for being. Jimin has even mentioned this during various vlogs. Jimin’s whole album FACE was about all his thoughts, feelings, & just what he all went through, including, yes, depression which he wanted to convey, to share with others who could possibly identify & relate to, so they might feel they’re not the only ones with these thoughts or feelings. Jimin has helped so many through the lyrics, that he writes. Also Jimin composed & helped produce all his songs as well! 👍❤🔥😍🔥
As mentioned he did experience depression in some form and I think he added this song, so that others experiencing the same thing, either during the pandemic or any other time might find their way out as well. Condemnation is a severe battle. Jimin showed how to be an over comer. Like the title Face Off, you have to face your struggles. Struggles are real for a lot of people and BTS speaks to people in their needs, which is admirable. I thought it was also very transparent of him, to reveal and relive those moments and share with Army and the world. BTS albums, and solo albums usually have a flow, one song to the next. It’s eXactly one year anniversary of Jimin’s FACE album! ❤️🔥😍 🎉 Jimin’s song “Alone” is such a hauntingly, deep, emotional, ever so beautiful song Jimin also wrote composed & helped produce, which comes right after Like Crazy. “Face Off”, with a trap beat, absolute fire, the opening song from album is another must to hear! Which like all the songs on his FACE album is about his thoughts, feelings, his emotions, even depression he was going through during the pandemic, which he wanted to convey, in hopes others could relate & be helped by. Also recommend you listen to the Eng version of “Like Crazy”, that I actually prefer, since it has a change in lyrics, and his vocal delivery, his pronoun citation, with emphasis on certain words & phrasing is such a must to hear! Even “Letter” from the actual album I also hope you give a listen since Jimin is the one playing the acoustic guitar in it! Don’t believe you’ve even heard the ost Jimin sang “With You” which even beat out Dynamite in the most listened in shortest time! There’s just so much that you’ve yet to hear as well as watch Jimin dancing, & performances! A lot of very nice comments , I have seen how depression can change someone , it's very sad and , I hope to never be in that situation , I read in the comments that , Jimin was singing this to let others know there is help out there not to try and .. face ..it alone , and I agree this is also what I gathered from this song .. Not about choice it's about how he felt due to the position he was put in due to Covid. He was alone and he was very down and felt the loneliness of isolation remember he's used to being with his band brothers and being on stage. This was Jimin being very real with us. In fact his whole solo Album FACE is about his experience with covid eg isolation, his fears and darker thoughts he even realised he was drinking more than was normal for him and did something about it once it realised it. The BTS members are often extremely real about what they are thinking, feeling and going through. It often encourages other's to know that if they are fighting the same battles it's ok your not alone it's ok to be battling with things at times.
I do agree that it's depression, perhaps with a small d, because Jimin isn't a depressed person in general, he's pretty happy. The pandemic hit the world hard and many people were alone and depressed. It was very difficult for BTS because they had an even larger world tour ready to go, which was postponed twice, then cancelled. All of them went through a period of shock and loneliness at first, along with the whole world. Then they rallied, put out three fun and lively videos to cheer up the rest of the world, which is what they do. They also held an online concerts, one had 1.3 million viewers. They performed at the 2021 Grammys, by video, and did the wonderful things they do. In 2022 they did a short tour and performed live at the Grammys, but with military service looming and feeling it was a good time to explore their music individually, they went on a hiatus. Jimin here is looking back at the depression he felt during the beginning of the pandemic, being separated physically from his brothers except to work. In his album FACE, he also explores other aspects of himself, not pandemic related, but as a musician.. As you know, they are all in the military right now and the first one (Jin) comes back in June!

Jimin suffered a lot during the pandemic, the other guys were worried about him. They say he drank too much. The Face album is all about his feelings after their world tour was cancelled because of covid. Jimin is made for the stage.
It wasn't JIMIN's choice to experience isolation during the pandemic, which is what this is. He's opening up his heart and expressing the feelings of depression and isolation he was going through during the pandemic. This was part of his journey to facing himself and getting through it. I applaud him for sharing it with us. It's not that different from what I went through as well. Spending day and night doing the same thing over and over because we can't do the things we normally did. And then when things started opening up again, it was like having to deal with the anxiety of adjusting to the "New Normal". I totally relate. His album FACE is a chronological journey through his feelings during the pandemic. He said he named the album FACE because it was about Facing himself. He needed to do it in order to move forward. The depression was a side effect of being isolated during the pandemic. NOT his fault.
You are correct. It is depression. But keep in mind this was also during Covid. There wasn’t much choice. He felt isolated. Their tour was on hold and eventually cancelled. Everything he’s supposed to be able to do as an artist/ performer was not really possible. He didn’t just feel alone he felt useless.
