You are 100 percent right. Noone has a clue how much money let alone blood swet and tears go into a business like yours. I started a sawmill and logging business 20 years ago and there are very few who could ever succeed. You are very lucky to have your entire family behind you. Well said Ken. I've learned that people who say they want what you have think that you work 40 hrs. like they do. A 60-70 hr. work week would scare them to death. You're doing a great job- don't change a thing.

Always a pleasure to tune in and see what's going on in your life. Some time ago, I posted how to me you represent a person and family living the American Dream. That is, by hard work, dedication, and lots of physical , emotional, and mental stamina, persisting to make that dream a reality. It's certainly not an easy thing to do (if it was, everyone would be doing it) but it's possible in our good nation.
Starting and running a successful business requires much more sacrifice than most people realize. It's refreshing to hear your thoughts that run constantly behind the background noises and operations of the lumberyard and how your state of mind and reflections help to steer things on a path of growth and success.
We never stop learning and what you've learned is constantly put forth to teach others, be they members of your family or viewers and customers of the products of your labor.

That was great. Most folks don't understand having a business means there is a constant weight on your shoulders with you 24/7. That constant stress and thought of the business is why most don't succeed cause they are not willing or able to giving 24/7. I have been in a very dark place for many years and I was sitting on my balcony in Durban, South Africa at 3am in the morning and wondering about the decisions (mostly bad ones) that I have made I came to my computer to watch F1 motor racing and your video was recommended to me. God spoke to me powerfully through your message and I want to thank you for your obedience and your humility in bringing it. God bless you and your wonderful family. The world needs more men like you. On the balcony God exposed the lie to me that I have been believing for so many years. I am NOT the person defined by my immediate thoughts, the wicked thoughts I have don't make me wicked it's the wicked actions that do that. My past does not determine who I am. Everyday I can become the person God intended me to be. Its my choice to be obedient to the Holy Spirit.

There is a big difference in owning a business and working for one. Also having a family business is a lot different than just a regular business. Been there doing it. Debt isn’t fun when owning a business and having that great partner like a spouse really helps.

It's unfortunate that money is in short supply in your industry now. I agree sir that we have very little control of what happens and in most cases none. Your actions over the years from the videos shows me a picture of hard work and diligence. Not only in business but in life in general. Look at where you started and where you are now. Time is precious! I am from germany. My parents married in 1959. My dad was a baker with a master title(For this trade you need a master title to be allowed to have your own business), he had to start working at 12 in 1944 . They took over an old bakery, they had literally no funds, so they had to take what was available. The house, containing the shop, had running water in the kitchen, and that was it. No bathroom, no heating. It was build before 1900. The second building was the bakery. The only toilet was in a barn behind these two buildings.
They ran the bakery for about 10 years to save up money to build a new house. That was build in 1969, i was 5 at that time. Interest rates were very high, above 10%, so they got a mortgage with a fixed interest rate, to prevent it from raising further. In the following years the interest rates dropped, but they had the fixed rate, they had years where they were just able to pay the interest. My mother operated the shop, my father did the baking. They had an employee once, but he was a thief. So my dad did all the baking all alone. He got up at 3 am, to have the fresh goods in the shop at 6am, when the first customers came. All they did the next 12 years was paying back the mortgage. Every money went into that. Falling ill was not an option, it would have meant ruin. In 1982 everything was paid back. My dad was 50 by then and retired. He needed to, he was literally worn out, having worked nonstop since the age of 12. He was allergic to flour.
Owning a small business is no joke. I didnt take it over, because baking wasnt my thing, bakery chains took over the market, and my dad from his long time of working alone was no team player, to say this gently.

I tell people that we control very little of our lives maybe 2 to 3 percent at best but you are right we can control our thoughts 100% . If you don't believe in the impossible then how do you expect it to happen? I fully agree with all you have said Ken. At the age of 40 I started over with nothing as a result of some hard learning experiences but I had a dream, and one day at a time I worked towards that dream. Today at the age of 79 I live in a beautiful forest of 9.6 acres with a stream running thru on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. I have a 468 sq.ft. home that meets all my needs, I share this with two amazing dogs. I have no debt and have in excess of 150K in savings, more than I can ever spend given that there is nothing I need. What I have today far exceeds any of my dreams. Hold on to those dream Ken and family.
I come to your channel to renew and refresh. The message today was - is - very timely. It's far too easy to allow the negative messages to bombard our consciousness and distract us from achieving whatever goals we've set. You've got this fella. I remember a few years back when your girls recalled your amazing and potentially life-saving actions during large flash-flooding! you were then and remain today a hero. Though the world seems to be on a deliberately treacherous path, and that invokes in us all a continuous flight or fight condition. Problem is, who exactly do we "fight" or where do we run to? the result of this external pressure is just adrenaline driven frustration so you are not alone there. Personally I think all who are able simply stand our ground and deal with whatever comes our way. On the positive side, you have a lovely family and children who are an outstanding example of you and your wife's parenting skills - you both deserve to be proud. What is happening on this earth is a pitched battle between Christ and Satan. So it helps to have Christ in your hart to stay calm, the battle has not even gotten bad yet! Things to do in my opinion are to first stay connected to Christ. Second move to a country location if you can. Three have drinkable water without electricity. four grow and store food. five have various forms of energy available that will work without electricity. Like say firewood from LCLY😀 Some people find it hard to view how negative the world is and take action. One kinda has to work in two contradictory directions. One is kinda insurance against extremely nasty times and the other is to keep moving forward in business regardless of the negative vibes.
A person can be what ever they dream to be as long as they put forth the effort, make adjustments as needed , be truthful with everyone and especially your self. Have integrity
