- There has been a lot in the news lately about Nebraska and the weather: everything from floods to tornadoes! thankfully, we are all okay and so is Pepper! (oh and our buildings and equipment.) Many Nebraskans lost their homes. Then, a few days later, we experienced solar storms that cut out our tractors valuable GPS navigation technology. In this video, we assess the flooding we experienced (so thankful to finally get some rain!) and replant our fields. Thank you for watching today's video, and we'll see you in the next one! If you want to see the full news clips from the beginning of the video, I got them from these links below and use them under fair use.

Laura and Grant. This was a powerful video showing one of the perils for our farmers. Thank you for what you do, and for feeding all of us.
I thought they planted a corn variety used for ethanol. Are they planting food corn?
@@PatrickPoet Ethanol mostly unless I am incorrect. SOme sweet corn with the old tractors(another video).
Thank you for being a farmer we need more like you and Grant I happy none of you got hurt
You showed us the reason for the expression "save money for a rainy day." Farming involves both risk and reward. I appreciate your good attitude during times of loss. God bless.
Driving tractors to school reminds me of when I was young. We were tomato farmers in Florida. One day, I drove a tractor up to the window of a McDonalds for lunch. The manager came running out and told me to get the hell off the property with the tractor. He was a real $hit..
Later that season, a fungus hit most tomato farms and you could not find a tomato anywhere, except our farm, as we were spared. That same manager came to our farm to buy tomatoes and my dad went out and told him to get his truck off our farm! What goes around, comes around.
That manager was just a little shit! Laura and Grant took their tractor thru the drive-thru on camera once. Did you see that episode? I can imagine that was one hell of a sight...I mean how often do you see a farm tractor going thru the drive-thru? Some places have a 24-hour drive-thru even tho their lobby isn't open 24 hours! And, at least here, they don't want to serve you at the drive-thru if you walk up. I think it's stupid to have a restaurant be closed up with only the drive-thru open and then refuse to serve people for walking up. NOT EVERYONE HAS A BLOODY CAR!!! I had that happen to me and I said 'what do you expect me to do, go home and come back with a vehicle?' and they said that they did and even asked me how long that would take me! I was like 'once I leave right now, I'll never come back'. I mean what's the point then? I've got food at home. That manager learned a BIG lesson that day...Farm round to find out! Well, when the tomato blight came round...he FOUND out!
Sorry for all the bad interruptions, Laura. You guys work so hard to get us the food we need. God bless the farmers of the world. Stay safe and praying for a better summer, going ahead.
mother nature can make all of us stand up and pay attention.
Wow I seen that on the news and wondering if it hit you. I watched the video where you planted everything with that big machine that was pretty cool. Sorry to here that it hit your fields.
Government weather weapons
@@joby1 HAARP can't quite do that,...... yet.
There is no Mother Nature.
Farmers have been at the whim of nature since the start of farming. The important thing is that everyone is doing ok.
that was amazing showing inventiveness & adaptation of true farmers
Laura, you are such a little blessing to grant all your family and of course your viewers. Thank you for being the person that you are truly a sweet little flower.
Laura and Grant, thank you for the great video. You are so fortunate to have such supportive and resourceful neighbors.
It's good to see Gage again.
My heart aches for the mountain of hours that you have to reinvest into your crops again.
I love your resourcefulness and your stick to it attitude.
It's crazy how the run off focused in the planter rows.
Thank you for sharing this part of your journey Laura and Grant! I hope your seeds and plantings for 2024 are not affected too much by the water and solar storms!
Dildo
The one row planter is awesome.... SORRY to hear and see all the rain damage. Thank God for no tornados.
Now I see why you really wanted that bridge over that little creek instead of driving though it.
Stay safe and best wished to you for this years crops.
Hello there , how are you doing today?God bless you!!
Sorry it happened to me a lot of times during my farming career it is not good but I lived through it. GOD IS GOOD!!
Good to see you two keeping a positive attitude through this. I'm sure it's disheartening and your point about not being able to control the weather is so true. Best of luck with you improvisation!
That takes me back many years. As a kid, I remember using a two row planter very similar to that to plant our entire farm. Of course, the farm was small. Dad thought he went to a big time farmer with when he upgraded to a four row, no till planter. He would be shocked at how big the equipment is now and how much you can plant in a day. Thanks for the videos
Oh my god Laura and Grant. My heart goes out to you both. All that hard work gone. Thinking of you guys. 🥰🥰🙏🙏
Thanks for sharing this with us! Hope all goes well for your seeds!
I'm sorry you guys are having a rough time. You are so lucky to have friends, family and nabors that care about you guys. Just think your lurning what farming was like for about a century until you got your technology today. I'm proud of you guys for not giving up and trucking on.
That little planter is cute, makes you appreciate the big guys.
You guys are so blessed. We pray for your continued safety and prosperity. From Columbus Indiana 🙏
It's frustrating farming some times. But it works out in the end. Glad yall didn't get any damage.
That is pretty cool!! That one roll planter!!
Good morning Sunshine! Mother nature sure hit you all hard, but thankfully you didn't experience a tornado. It was heartbreaking to see the filed damage and I pray that your efforts to mitigate the damage done to your planting it mitigated. Regardless, it is a financial and time consuming cost associated and I just hope your resulting crop is not negatively impacted too severly. You and Grant will be in my thoughts and prayers. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
Was up in Marquette this past weekend for graduation, stopped and visited with my buddy Todd D. Was able to watch that fancy German machine put seed in the ground, until everything stopped because of the solar flares, took them awhile to get everything working again, but thank God nothing major damaged, just some rebooting 😅 prayers for great weather and safety 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I'm very sorry for the trouble you're having with mother nature. Please stay safe and don't let yourselves or anyone in harms way.
Thank you for the update and please stay safe
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO LAURA AND GRANT 😊
Laura I am old enough to be your grandfather and grew up in farm country I have never seen a farmer happy about the amount of rain or the price of a crop.
Resilient folks…my dad used to always say with any investment , if you are only looking back, you will be irrationally elated or depressed…keep doing the right thing, expect some bumps and you will probably win in the end. Your diligence will be rewarded- thanks for sharing!!
Hello there , how are you doing today?God bless you!!
Our prayers and thoughts are with yall to have a successful result planting again!
I am always so impressed with your attitude. You just live the Serenity Prayer 'Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can't change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference'.
And all with big smiles on your faces! Champions!
Glad you all are ok , prayers that everything works out for you 🙏❤🙏
Wow! Just something I would have never thought of or expected. Glad you were able to recover!
A quick 'thank you' for the update. I'm just some random guy in Essex UK who enjoys learning about your operation on the farm. So hearing about the solar storms and the weather events in the news means we worry about how you guys are doing, like you are our physical neighbours. Watching with interest how the reseeded parts do in the harvest.
now thats called real farming-you find a way to improvise and adapt to different problems-fantastic! laura, grant and gage-charlie from arkansas.
Bummer. I’m glad you guys didn’t get hit by one of those devastating tornadoes
Good luck you two, we need our farmer's
So sorry to see you going through this. The good thing is that everyone is ok. I hope you are able to restore the lost seeds and everything goes smoothly from here on out. Good luck!
Nice work! That's a cool little machine for the smaller planting jobs! We're praying for you guys, It's going to be a good year! 🙂
Hi Laura & Grant, yes use had a bad storm, but I am thankfull that everyone is ok, cheers from Seagrave Ont
Old school John Deere 71 planter! Very reliable, I ran a 4 row set for years.
Praying for a successful farming season for you both inspire of all the obstacles.
Love that little 1 row planter.
Grant, Laura, amazing story of doing what can be done. Never stopping, always finding a way to improve yield. Thank you for sharing this.
Thankful y'all or your home's wasn't hurt or devastated,in my neck of the woods two and four row mechanical is all we ever used,I've still got a two row and plenty of plates for beans and corn, May God bless y'all and keep you safe.
Documented reality - great job and great recovery - You are a great farmer's spokesman
I am sure that I would not last as a farmer, your attitude in the wake of huge weather setbacks is to be admired. I hope the balance of your planting season goes well, Good Luck. Ray
I got my 6-7 acres planted near the end of april. The corn is several inches tall now. We have been getting a ton of rain here in Kentucky which has been ok for the corn but its got me behind on hay. Life of us farmers!
I grew up on the farm in Southwest Minnesota and feel your pain. Weather risk is real. Take care. Things will get better.
I appreciate your positive attitude -- can we still farm without technology? You bet! Much success to you both.
Persistent. You are farmers! God bless you all and safe travels. Especially in those muddy fields. Bye Gauge!
Was hoping to see Laura using the ol' 4020(?) to pull that one row planter until we saw her on the ATV. I recall my grand-dad had an old two row planter that was converted from horse drawn to be pulled behind his '48 Ford 8N. We used it to plant sweet corn on his acreage when I was a kid back in Iowa. He would drive the 8N while I sat in the big metal seat between the seed hoppers and worked the foot pedal and the hand operated lever systems that controlled the two basic functions of the planter. At 10-12 years old, it was all I could do to make 'em work.
Farming is such an exercise in faith and Laura confirmed this. Farmers accept what comes, deal with it, make the best of it, learn from it and move on. It's a wonderful thing. It's really no wonder why our farmers are so fiercely independant. God Bless our farmers!
I was thinking just this morning about riding the seat of the two row horse drawn planter while my Dad drove the 8 N.
I had you guys on my mind. Happy to see you are ok and got to replant.
prayers for a good harvest god bless !
Bless you for doing what you do.
My heart goes out to you f0r your lost labor and seed.
Back to the old days planting lol ...stay safe and catch you soon
Glad you are ok love to see you water ski in the ditch 😊
Glad to hear y'all are okay, with the tornadoes in Nebraska,I and I'm sure others that follow, were concerned for y'all
Keep on farming
Well that was something different, I hope you can rescue the most of what you can from the flooding. I know insurance doesn't always protect you completely.
Laura still manages to smile, if we lost that smile we would be devastated. Love from Mike. ❤
You watch the news that covers the storms and see the impact to buildings and houses. This video shows the periphery effect to the fields and what the effort involved to recover. I find it interesting that the rows where corn that was not flooded out, is popping through and is adjacent to the rows from last year. Is that on purpose? That implies alternating where the seeds are planted each year. Thanks for sharing, chin up and keep moving forward!
Good luck on the new individual rows! Hope y'all have gentle rains for the rest of the summer!
With the low crop prices this year, this is a real kick in the teeth. Back on our small hill farm in Missouri during the ‘50’s, my dad terraced some of our fields and he planted his crops on the contour, specifically to alleviate the soil washing away during rain events. But he had 40hp tractors and 6 foot implements; things no longer practical on most of today’s farms.
Such a cool education channel. Thanks for the learning Laura and Grant and fam.
We are very sorry for the bad things you have to go through. We learn so much from your videos. It is good to see Gage, adain.
Wow, hear goes out to you guys. Stay the course . You 2 got this
What a crazy turn of events. Praying for you and all the hardworking people going through this difficult time.
That one row planter really is very interesting. What an amazing idea for repairing a damaged field! I'm glad to see that you are able to salvage your fields at least a little bit. Looking forward to seeing your next video!
I'm so Sorry Laura So Much Distruction From The Heavy Rains!!
Thanks For Sharing Hope Your Crops Do well From Here On Out And You Are Able To Recover!! Try To Keep Smiling On!!
😅👍👊❤️
Wow, really a great episode ! Good luck with this season!
We're so sorry to hear and see all of the flooding you guys experienced recently.... hoping that the recovery will be a swift one and that your re-planting will be a huge success... Prayers and thanks for you and your family from Ohio.... hang tough kids
Laura, this experience shows how small we are in the scheme of things. As always it is worse elsewhere and give thanks to God that you have a chance to replant and hopefully a successful harvest.
I pray that you continue to get the rain you need, but not as gully-washers!
Laura and Grant thank you for sharing! So happy that you are safe and still able to bring captivating videos about your daily farming activities. Love the channel. Not a farmer but love @TrailMater, @MattsOffRoadRevovery. Keep up the great work. May god bless your farm.
Hang in there guys. Prayers being said for your continued success this planting period. God bless. 🙏
That's farming folks. Going through drought now myself, first time in 20 years with no rain to kick off seeding and pastures for lambing season. Weather patterns change and you just have to go with the flow. Keeps you on your toes. Sometimes the old simpler way is the best way. At least there is options with advancement in technology over the years, when it works.
That’s sucks Laura but that’s the changes of farmer I wish you success this season .from Canada Ontario cheers.
Blessings for your crop correction. Hope planting is Easy peasy from here on out!
I been following both you guy's on FB for long time now so i decided to take a look on here for ya! Much love from the coast of Maine 🤙 ❤️ you both are awesome farmers!!
You are amazing team! I think you guys are able to handle just about any challenge that comes your way. All the best
I saw you at Matt’s off road and I was impressed with how you spoke over the microphone. Your driving was ok but you had Royi spotting. I now am watching your channel as a person that grew up on a farm 50 some years ago I find it very interesting and more important I find that you and grant give me hope for gen z. You work your buts off thanks
So sorry to see you all having such adversity and lost expenses, especially right off the bat. Not too late to fix it and you all sure did! I'm proud of you all!
A perfect demonstration of the old adage: Be careful what you wish for. You may get it!
We can all see that was a heartfelt video. You deserve everyone of your 1/2 million subs.
Appreciate the video; and, as always, I watch with much interest and intensity. As another farmer to the southeast of you in Missouri, I very much want you and Grant to succeed.
Thank you for the warning on Scams related to your Channel. I was contacted last year by a person claiming to be Laura asking for an investment firm a skid of Laura Farms Merchandise.
Praying for a quick recovery to the storm damage to your fields and crops 🙏. good luck with your Season.
Great video! Good positive energy after a turf turn of events!
I was hoping you guys came out OK after the recent storms in Nebraska. Sorry to see you were affected, but glad it wasn't any worse.
Thanks for sharing Laura & Grant sorry to see all the water damage to your fields hopefully your crops are not washed out.
Hi Laura, Grant and Gage, I'm pleased my favourite crop farmers from southern Nebraska are all OK. The outcome of weather systems, we have absolutely no influence over, and they'll mow through farm land as they do. Farming is definitely the epitomy of "character building"! Clean up, fix and move on. That's all any of us can do. Looking forward to seeing some more seedlings popping up above the soil as the weeks go by.
I love your channel Laura! Best wishes from me down in tiny NZL, David
I appreciate your channel. You make it interesting and personal. Your heritage in farming is wonderful. Interesting how farmers have had to deal with weather event ssince the beginning. God does not always make it easy to do good things. I grew on my uncle's farm. Did not have the stress of dealing with these issues as child but was familiar to similar events. Generally people unfamiliar with subject do not have clue about farming. Glad you are providing educational information, Keep informing the world on farmers efforts.
John Deere 71 flex planter. one of the best ever made.
Thanks for the video. Hope the replanting works.
Sorry to hear of the damage, no buts, just, best wishes for the rest of the season. ❤
Rain, such a fine line between not enough and too much. A good show of the trouble farmers deal with from year to year to grow the crops that feed a world.
The struggle is real. never can learn to much, thanks for sharing
You farmers are the hart and soul of America! Good speed
Talk about making lemonade!!! Thanks for sharing guys. Really interesting
