@@CricketStories007 Your Video Was Good , The Narration Was Nice And You Broke Every Stereotype About Sir Viv Richards . Overall A Good , Point To Point And Informative Video . 10/10 From Me
Undoubtedly the greatest batsman I have ever seen. No one could ever even imagine of playing like Richards. The way he batted without helmet, the way he walked, the way he carried himself - everything graceful and unique. The Biggest Boss!
Viv Richards was the greatest batsman I ever saw. Rank him above Tendulkar, Lara and Kohli. He was absolutely fearless and intimidating to bowlers. Also he was an excellent captain and a truly brilliant fielder.
The luckiest thing in my life was being around on little rural Somerset county grounds in the 70s when Richards was coming into his own. I had his autograph on a scorecard, he was already an international star but always found time to chat with supporters, especially youngsters, during intervals. His career batting totals were eclipsed by the more careful great men of the game, because he was not playing to accumulate runs. He was playing to win matches and that is done by brutal fast scoring and psychological domination. The King of cricket in his day, and under his captaincy West Indies, the smallest and poorest Test nation, conquered the world of cricket.
The Master Blaster in cricket attributed to Sir Viv is no mean achievement it spoke of authority, confidence, power, and grace in his overall performance but especially batting. Well done Sir Viv. Take a bow.
Everyone talks - with ample reason - about what a spectacular and exciting player he was. However, I've always felt he rated highly as a stylist as well. He was an elegant-looking, eye-pleasing batsman with a classical-looking cover-drive.
Richards was great ok. He faced only two genuine pace bowlers i. E.Thomsun and Lilee. Others were medium pacers. At that time helmets were not not in use. Helmet becomes common after 1978.Sunil Gavaskar faced express pace bowlers like Holding, Roberts, Garner, Croft, Marshall, Daniel, Thomsun, Lilee etc with out wearing Helmet. Richards had great respect for Gavaskar. He scored 14Centuries agaist mighty west Indian pace.
Just so smoothly confident. We used to think Clive Lloyd "The Cat, The Big C, Super Cat" was smooth but Viv was something else. I delayed the start of my first real job to see the 1975 6th Test Aus v WI. Watching Lillee, Thompson, Richards, Lloyd, Kallicharan, Chapelli, Chappell G. Great memories!
My respect and honour to you sir for such a compact , beautiful , and respectful piece on the great man. We love him and his great feats . Bless you sir Viv.
Not just the greatest batsman. The most socially aware cricketer. To see him wear that ites green and gold wrist band was an enormous political psychological spiritual mental symbolic subliminal message sent by him to the world. He wrestled not just bat and ball but was the epitome of what HERO means to all those who fight for freedom justice and equal rights.
He picked up the line and length a fraction of a second quicker than mere mortals allied with his lightning reflexes made him at times almost impossible to bowl to, just simply a truly great batsman
Sir Viv used a time machine to travel to 2023, watched Ben Duckett bat and that is how he could play so aggressively. Too bad that Viv didn't give him credit in any of his interviews.
Richards batting is the best we would have ever seen in the history of cricket. No batsman ever come close to him. Richards hitting six over squareleg on a yorker..brilliant stuff.
Every single batsman, all-rounder , wicket-keeper and specialist bowler of the day batted bare-headed. Just as they had since the first Test match in WG Grace's time. And Viv never faced his own brutal bowlers. Had he played for India in exchange for Gavaskar, he would have averaged 45 and Sunny 60+. Get a grip on reality.
Douglas Jardine invented Bodyline for Bradman. His fast-bowling strength, Larwood, Bill Voce, Gubby Allen, would have eliminated IVA with their leg-side field. Richards was like Tendulkar, great when in a position of strength, otherwise lose your composure, get out, then sulk in the dressing room.
*In the era of paper-thin bats, long boundaries, no bouncer restriction rules, no free hit BS rule, and having to face the likes of Lilly, Thomspon, Headly, Imram and Botham on uncured pitches ..... HE WAS THE KING OF KINGS !!!*
Viv the batsman every one would aspire to the greatest untouchable the king , my happiest time watching cricket to see the master . Thank you viv my hero.....
It's the fact that he played his whole career without wearing a helmet, knowing that one mistake could have serious consequences, is what makes him a legend. Even if we get other players who will probably match his productivity both in tests and odi, the fearlessness and courage will always set him apart.
Irrespective of his records, I have never seen a batsman who struck fear & awe among the opposition players like Viv did. Getting his wicket was like getting thru half their line-up!
Viv faced pace batteries of those times who were deadly and destructive like those of England , Australia and New Zealand, never seen him rattled by pace and swing Even played class spinners of those times with ease..... In bowling he had broken many good partnerships with his off-breaks......a complete cricketer of all time who could be matched with no one..
I was privileged to have grown up watching Sir Viv Richards. For me, hands down the best batsman. There is an excellent documentary on his rise to the top, it’s on youtube.
Yes, I met him&presented him with a beautiful piece of art in cricket(created all by myself) for which he wrote best comments (compliments)& he wrote his Antigua address on my notebook! His home name is "Gambles Terrace"! I wish him good health! 🌹 ❤🏏
How good actually? He was amazing i have been watching cricket for over 50 years and at his best there has been none better. I have seen many great batsmen some no longer talked about but Viv is the best i have seen.
He would have been awesome in any era of the game , I saw nearly last 6-7 yrs of his career, he still was sublime how good he must have been in his prime?. Saw him doing nets against the late great Malcom marshall prior to their match smashed 5 out of the 6 balls and Malcom was bowling in the nets with a fiery pace. Also made 50 in that match he took on Abdul Qadir who at that time was a premier legspiner . Finally he was removed by Imran Khan but never I have seen people so crazy about dismisal of a batsmen, people were jumping and dancing on the chairs such a prized wicket he was for then opposition . He was particularly tough on rookies loved the challenge from any bowlers never had fear in his eyes against any quick bowlers.if people like Richie Richardson,Sachin Tendulkar ,Arvinda di Silva,Saeed Anwar,Inzamam UL Haq,Brian Lara all idolized him and wanted to bat like him is a testament to how dominating he must have been on the bowlers. . A true legend of the game. may your legacy as a cricket great be remembered for a long time.
His style. Swagger. Confidence. Gum chewing. ❤ GOAT Makes cricketers these days look like novices. Also remember there were no fielding restrictions or tiny grounds or bowling bouncer restrictions. Viv One and only Great video ❤
One other factor you ought to have mentioned: he didn't have the super-powerful bats that they had in the 21st century. What the hell might Viv have done with one of them?
The 80s and 90s gen appreciates the legends. We always acknowledge the legacy even though we do comparisons. The current gen however, is all about putting previous gen players down, just to prove that the current Batsmen are the best of all time. It's obvious, the new generations will play better because of the training facilities, technology, bats, etc. We have more shots than before, we have better catches than before or whatever. But we need to always appreciate and respect previous legends. That said, of course, there are some sensational players in today's era
In my humble opinion. Vivian Richards (The Master Blaster) was the most feared Batsman that ever played the game of Cricket. Even Pakistan former Captain Imran Khan said that Viv Richards was the greatest Batsman he had seen.
No helmet .. uncovered pitches and he played to win in style / intimidation and fear by only looking .. today them pump jump dance like monkeys .. he was a true genius and when he walked to the ground .. there was fear !! Legend
Sadguru one of his interview said to Chris Gayle that his favourite is Vivian Richards and he also said nobody till today nobody bats like him,i totally agree to sadguru Sir.
Would the other great batsmen that arrived on the scene after him have averaged their's in both formats , had they not worn a helmet??? This answers most of the questions w.r.t Sir Viv . Simply he has been the greatest perhaps baring a certain 99.94 averaging Sir Don .

You have potential to judge the batting.
Not fear you took all of my comments. Have a blessed day my friend.
Michael Holding said Sir Viv Richards was a Team Man he wasn’t concerned about personal glory.
Yeah
That is one cricket topic for which I won't engage in a debate. Viv was the greatest, FULL STOP...
