  • There are not a ton of slip-on options out there yet for the 2021 ZX-10R..most notably there isn't a 3/4 version of the Graves exhaust yet...which I probably would have bought. That said, M4 seemed like the best option and definitely the most economical from my research. Today on the channel I'm going to install the M4 slip-on with the cat delete option on my 2021 ZX-10R.     I've had my 21 6R for about a month now and for some reason I like the factory exhaust even though I watched your video with the full intent on getting a different exhaust. I do a lot of night riding so I guess it's best that I don't annoy my neighbors. Great vid 👌 and love the bike.

      yeah i can certainly understand that. it really is, for me, just a personal preference. I like the sound of loud pipes (most of the time anyway) and while there isn't a ton of compelling evidence on this topic...I do feel there is an element of safety to being heard coming. I will talk more about this in another video but I do worry sometimes about the neighbors...but then again I dont do a lot of hard riding through the neighborhood...unless i'm making an exhaust video...they seem to tolerate it for the most part. thanks for the comment!!

    For me? I think this is the way to go. I happen to like the design of most factory headers because most have crossover tubes where most full system header pipes don't. I don't know if your factory headers have them but if they do there are benefits to them. As far as the sound? If the silencer is glass packed it's going to get louder as time goes on. The system looks good! It sure beats the heck out of the factory Trash Can. Just my opinion. I like it! And you saved a bunch of money.

      The factory headers do have crossovers in them and frankly, even though you can’t see them that well, they are beautiful blue and I don’t have any intention of changing those. Also, I’m not disappointed with the volume of the pipe...just something in the tone is off. Overall I think it was a great value and I didn’t intend for my comments at the end to be negative. I just wanted to give an honest from the gut feel for those who may be considering this upgrade. One of my many flaws is that I’m not very patient and what I probably should have done is just wait for the Graves to come out. Nonetheless I’m still happy with the product though and at the very least it looks really good and it sounds like a proper motorcycle now. Thanks as always William for your words of wisdom!

    I like how it looks like a almost under the bike exhaust. Not a fan of any cans sticking out on the side lol! A mix of standard and metric sounds like a Harley 😂😂😂 Maybe the sound will get louder as the exhaust breaks in. I know on my 650 it wasn't as loud at first but now it's really loud, my neighbors just love us 😂😂 The bike looks so much better now! 👊👍👍

      Hey SJ yeah I agree. I think the 650 really influenced my moves on all of my bikes because despite the pretty awful stock exhaust on the 650 I really loved the under the bike exhaust design. When we put the Graves on Mrs. Ninja's bike last year I was sold and I had hoped to get the same result with the M4...but it really didn't pan out that way. It is quite loud but its missing something in the tone. I may take out the baffle and see what that sounds like as well. thanks as always for your feedback!

    I splurged on the SC Project CR-T exhaust because I had a feeling that I would not be happy with the m4. 121 dbs @ 7k rpms my neighbors can enjoy it or stay 😡 😂😂😂 but the neighbors stay ripping up the neighborhood with their straight piped v6 chargers so I guess it’s a little bit of paybacks 🤷🏼‍♂️. Enjoyed your video showed me what all to expect when my exhaust arrives in the next couple of days.

    Note that, when you flash your ECU, you void any warranty on the bike. Power commander is fine.

      Noted Roy, I did an ECU flash on my N1K and the service I used will flash it back to stock on request. That said, I'm likely going to ride this bike well past its warranty but I appreciate the input!

    It will get louder, make sure baffle is out, you should also bust your cats out where the muffler slips on. The m4 gp is where you will get a more deep hollow sound from. Street slayer is a little more muffled and higher pitched.

    I ended up leaving the servo motor connected and just carefully removing the servo wires to the factory exhaust.

    I love the videos. Really the only options I see for slip-ons are Akrapovic and M4. I was torn between the two. I really like the design of the M4 street slayer and liked the sound of it on a ZX6r at my local dealer. The Akrapovic has better tone but is not as loud and the can is gigantic. I want to be heard even if you don’t see me (safety). I ordered the M4 and Servo Buddy after seeing your video. If you are willing to install it on your bike, it’s definitely worth a try for me.     Im curious. Why couldn't you just unhook the cables off the servo motor and save getting the servo buddy??? Just ordered my m4 for my 2023 zx10r. And just thought about that. But i bought a servo buddy either way.

    Sounds much better than stock and your neighbors won't hate you. Win Win! But I get what you mean about not being in love with it. I have an Akrapovic full system on my Z900 and I love it, but I'm sure my neighbors want to kill me. Like you said, later on you can try upgrading to the Graves or another brand and get the sound you really like.

      yeah that Akro on your Z sounds amazing man! I really love the unique sound that bike has. If I was your neighbor I'd have a beer waiting for you every time you drove up haha!! I think its highly likely I'll switch out for another exhaust at some point in the future. Until then though, I'm cool with this and its growing on me.       @@StormtrooperRides Honestly, I like the sound of that M4 you have on their now. It probably sounds better in real person. Don't rush to change out. Spend a little time with this one and see if it works out for you.

    I am like u I have the full M4 on my gsxr it sounds ok but I hate it. I kinda knew when u pulled out the M4 I thought oh shit he’s not going to like it. The Akro sounds very good on the new ninja

      yeah MauiMan I feel ya there. I dont hate it but like I said I dont love it...its been a strange adventure so far. Its the first bike I've ever owned where there wasn't just an instant LOVE right as I got on the bike. Its hard for me to explain but I'll try to get into it in some upcoming videos. I like it all...sincerely....but love might be pushing it....at least yet. thank you for the comment and I'll check out some more Akro sounds and perhaps one of these days I'll head down that road.

    I received my M4 Street Slayer but haven’t installed it yet. Since you’ve had the M4 installed for a while now, does it run lean since installing the Street Slayer? Do I need a Power Commander with this setup?

    Plan on going the M4 route as well. Question; Is that the M4 street slayer? I doesn't look like it. Also, I believe the cat is actually in the forward pipe and the chamber is just an air chamber. For me I just want a little more growl and a bit louder and wanna keep the spend under $600. Definitely wanna get the servo out and would put in the servo buddy. Great vid.

      hey 3Shot! appreciate the feedback. As I understand it there is cat in both the rear chamber and in the forward pipe for Euro5 compliance...but I could be wrong on that. taking the rear chamber off, regardless of whether there is cat in there or not, definitely made a difference in terms of loudness. I paid roughly $560 including the servo buddy shipped to my door. It took about 10 days to get it directly from M4 (I bought the servo buddy on amazon). It is in fact the "street slayer" and I think they changed the design a bit (for the 21) over previous ones. Not sure if there is a sound diff or not. Anyway hope that helps and I'll be interested to see what direction you go.

    Once you break in the baffle it will get louder and raspier. What exactly is a servo buddy?

      servo buddy just plugs into the harness where the servo used to be so that you can remove the entire servo assembly. It fools the ECU into believing the servo is in place and working...and saves a little weight. Its very small.     Hey I’m searching for a servo buddy but I cannot seem to find one for my 21 zx10r do you have a link where I can purchase one?

      Hey Mikey, yes this is an issue but after doing some digging the 21 zx10r uses the same servo buddy as the 20 zx10 and 20 zx6. The model number is 42-1112 and pretty much fits all Kawis in the last few years. I dont believe Woodcraft/Skutrnet has updated their listings to reflect the compatibility with the 2021 ZX10 yet. That said, since I bought the same one last year I just bought it again and it worked just fine. I threw no FI codes after removing the servo. Hope that helps!       Pretty sure you can just disconnect the servo wires and let the servo spin freely without removing it as well. That is just what I plan to do on my 21 zx10. That is what I did on my zx6 and put 20k miles and it was fine

      only if you remove the servo unit itself. If you put on a slip on without the "de-cat" then NO you wouldn't need it.

      there is no midpipe needed for the M4 exhaust. Its considered a "shorty" so when you remove the cat/rear chamber it just hooks straight to the headers. Hope that helps.

    Do you notice a bunch of popping and crackling with the M4? I got the same exhaust on my 21 zx10r and it pops everytime I accelerate on from off the throttle. Curious if you had the same issue

      My Zx6r was like this I loved it. My Zx10r has a graves exhaust and sadly no pops or crackles. I’m getting an M4 soon.

      You need to install pair block offs. Will stop the crackle and pops.

      I just got m4 slip on and did a cat delete on my gsxr 600. Only ride it for like 5mins just to test it out. It’s pretty loud now but I didn’t notice any pops or crackling. Do you think it’s because I just installed it? I didn’t do any wide open pulls yet, I just cruised around the neighborhood and back.

    Question, when you put the slip-on did you replace the 02 sensor with a plug?

      No not until after I flashed the ECU. I'll cover this in more detail with an upcoming video. Thank you for the question. Until the bike is derestricted you must leave the O2 sensor in place...once its derestricted you MUST unplug the O2. Hope that helps.
